( Nero pack ) cons, brakes are poor for spirited driving, only 1 electric seat ( poor ) electric estate door slow, air con slow, heated seats slow and panoramic roof a bit small. Best bits, heated steering wheel and front screen. 👍
I really like the Mondeo Vignale. I would certainly consider it over similarly-priced rivals from the "proper" premium marques. Also quite intrigued to see if the next Focus will be offered as a Vignale model too - I imagine it will be since the new Fiesta is. Quite an attractive prospect!
i just don't understand who they're trying to target here. Why would someone buy a premium version of an affordable car for a price that competes with cars that are actually premium?
Because you get much more kit in these more affordable cars when you spec them up instead of buying a base model of a more expensive car. But everyone either likes ignoring this fact and pretending like a base version of any car is decent. For example if you're buying a base A4 instead of an almost fully loaded Mondeo or Passat you're fucked in the head. I've been in all 3 from the last gen and that base A4 is a hilarious joke.
@@xIcarus227 you are right if you are buying luxury car and in base trim you don't have essentials that makes a luxury car and you need to spend on options, you just bought it for the badge...

And might I add I’ve driven Audi, BMW, and this car out performs them big time! Why does he think the Ford Sync would be any different though? Yeah I get that it’s a high end trim level but no car manufacture is going to make a WHOLE NEW touch screen radio operating system just for a Vignale/ Platinum (U.S.)

Best car have ever had, superb spec and exceptionally quiet inside due to acoustic glass and noise cancelling system. Auto gearbox is so smooth due to double clutch system and has never let me down and starts first time every time. 😅
Mat Watson I love your reviews I watch all of them. This Ford Mondeo Vignale looks really nice. Can't wait to see what the Ford Fiesta Vignale is like when it's released in 2017
You all who criticize this car should notice that for the same price you almost can't get a basic-equipment german (german cars at base level are simply embarassing!!). Clearly if you buy a 5 series or an A6 for 70000-75000 € you will notice the difference in quality, but also in the weight of your wallet!

The ford *idiot* Mondeo is nowhere near as good as a blooming Kia Stinger. The Stinger is a front-engined, rear-wheel drive, five-door coupe, so it competes directly with models such as the Audi A5 Sportback and BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe, but could also be considered as an alternative to other premium models, such as the Jaguar XE, Alfa Romeo Giulia, VW Arteon and Mercedes C-Class, or coupes such as the Lexus RC, Infiniti Q60 and two-door versions of the A5, 4 Series and C-Class. And the Ford Mondeo *Vignale* has a crappy infotainment system and has only 182 hp
Yeah most cars have heated seats, but those are also cooled and massaged seats. Also it has apple car play which not all cars have and it has more safety features that aren't even an option in some cars. You can also start it with its key I'm sure as most do that in the ford line up. Also, it most likely has adaptive cruise control which many cars don't have
I used to have a Mondeo Ghia X from 2006 and it came with climate seats... Then they started removing features like that and making them 'premium'. Lumbar, climate seats, folding mirrors, auto dimming mirrors were all standard back then which are now optional even on a BMW
TheCamshafter While it's not a premium brand, VW is far from it too. I don't understand why you're saying VW are 'way up' on quality over Ford. Last I checked, the only difference in interior quality between a top spec Golf and Focus is in the interior door padding, where the Golf's plastic is softer - but unfortunately scratches way easier. And about the deprecation, I think you should research into where the MK3 Focus prices are on the second hand market. They're still quite expensive. Premium car buyers won't buy either Ford or VW, let's be honest now. The A6 for example is not that terribly priced and is above anything Ford or VW has to offer.
I've got a Titanium Mondeo, specced in exactly the same colour as this, with every option ticked - including the ones you mentioned here as Vignale options (airbag rear belts, ambient lighting etc). And when it had its first service Ford washed it too. There's genuinely no need for the Vignale, especially as it just looks like they've slapped a badge under the Ford one on the tailgate. Poor concept. Also: the hybrid's not that bad. Mine is the hybrid (for company car tax purposes, obviously) and while it feels slow, thanks to the CVT box, it is actually just as quick in the real world as comparative motors. I agree with Avoid though - the Vignale is simply not worth the premium; if you're going to spend that much you might as well just go for a proper premium brand.
Your Titanium is nice but it simply does not look as good as the Vignale as they are two completely different designs. The Titanium is great value for money though when compared to BMW and Audi.
I live in the U.S. and let me tell you guys we have a version of this as the saloon. It comes with the sun roof, every bell and whistle you can get on a car and it starts here at $36,000 USD.

This car which I was very surprised with outperformed those vehicles in my opinion He is very anti ford and just a premium snob. Ford focus he dissed which I believe out of bmw 1 series Audi a3. Focus was second to Audi a3. When you sit in the 1 series driving seat your feet are cramped and feel unnaturally to the left. Don't really think much of his reviews on ford because sorry in my opinion totally biased !!!!
I've got the hybrid version of this as a company car; its BIK tax is relatively cheap. I actually like it. It's quiet and comfortable on long journeys. My only issue is that the premium service that you are supposed to get with it doesn't exist. If you live in Worcestershire, Ford will not keep their promise to collect it for servicing. I have to take time away from work to get it serviced and they won't even provide a courtesy car unless I pay for it. Not all Ford garages service the hybrid variant, so I have to take it to central Birmingham for a service. Would I get another one? Probably not.
I was fortunate to have the opportunity to drive the hybrid Vignale around the Alpine circuit at Millbrook proving ground. I agree with most of your assessment with the exception of the boot. The hatchback has a much better boot and the estate does have an electric tailgate lift. Both have better headroom in the back. The hybrid goes well, but sounds awful. The sound system is awesome and I don't agree with your views on the infotainment system.
Used many different Mondeo's for twelve years all having over 100,000 miles one had 230,000 before someone hit it, they're the bees knees, no wonder people buy them and they run up so many miles they're so comfortable, the large alloy wheels eat tyres though at the front, ones with space saver wheel have massive boots, don't run low on fuel too many times the dirt can get to injectors about £180 each ×4, I use shell nitro diesel the moment injectors show a problem that seems to sort it.
My point here is instead of knocking Ford for getting a more premium brand in its European line up they are picking at straws, I agree the car could have a bit more, tighter finish, but since Ford was out of this segment for years via its Granada offering I think it will take some time to catch up, but the price reflects great value for money yet it is not portrayed here so. I use a lot of leased and rental cars in these segments and the Fords of today are not very far behind the brands that directly competes with them, yet due to some serious partisan and snobbish attitude, the Fords are approached with negativity from the outset. I remember the Hyundai Pony and Stella, etc horrible cars that took decades to get right but we bought them by the bucketloads and still Ford is around and offering better alternatives only to be met with the down, the nose arrogance from these. VW had the biggest scandal with its cheat emissions but was given a pass, Toyota has been doling out some serious lemons of late but is given a pass, that Honda Civic Type-R is an ugly duckling but is claimed to be more desirable than the more impressive Focus RS, The Honda NSX is a bloated over engineered piece of modern day anti-climax but is rated so highly by these, while the superb Mustangs are given lukewarm reviews despite their first attempt at the sports car market and right-hand drive, I could go on and on but I hope you get my gist. So say what you like about engineering, I don't have to be to know a good car when I see one- Again all that is needed is for Ford to get very hard on their out-sourced suppliers they are the ones who provide not so good workmanship which the manufacturer can't pick up in such volumes but replies on customer feedback- give them a chance it is the first iteration of the Vignale....
To all those who think a premium car has to be an Audi, Merc, BMW- Go and look at one and then drive it. A Mondeo Vignale with perforated super soft leather, active noise cancellation and the 180bhp powershift auto gearbox is super smooth. Then you'll question if it really is premium economy because it feels every bit as refined as an Audi A4 or BMW 3 series. The other thing is why not drive something different that stands out and that actually is a nice car. If you went out and bought an E-Class, 5 series, or A6 they all look the same and just aren't different enough to have any personality. A Jag XF (with the right colour and wheels) or new Volvo S90 look much more dynamic, with the S90 in particular being a stunning car both inside and out. Also Matt, why have you reviewed this car with the old Sync 2 infotainment system. All new Fords now have Sync 3 which is a Blackberry based system and is way better.
@@Nood4159 because you're a sane human being who cares about his own comfort instead of what others think of him. It's almost always much more sensible to buy a fully loaded midrange car than to buy a base premium car with a few options. It's always been that way, but people don't see a lot of fully loaded midrange cars so they automatically assume they're as shit as the base ones. In Ford's case they don't even realize how much different a Titanium is over a Trend or Style.
I don't understand. If Vignale is supposed to be the top spec version with better sound proofing and quiet ride, why save money and 'just as well get Titanium model'? Better customer service (supposedly), leather finished dashboard, these nice seats, isn't it exclusive for Vignale? Isn't itsupposed to be above Titanium? I am so confused right now. I would appreciate explanation greatly.

I had an insignia Sri before but had nothing but issues with it so I went for the Mondeo econetic 1.5tdci it's a good looking car I always see people checking it out rather interesting as it's just a bog standard Mondeo

As a fresh one in good shape and from first or second hand it will make an excellent used car one day.
How reliable is that car, honestly ? Thank you
If this very well speced, good looking car had a German badge and price tag.....the opinion of it would be so different.
Nice review Matt. Surprised at that trim looking loose!
I watch these videos just to hear Mat say Vignale!
Philip Wolstencroft yes they are looking the same and this looks like a expensive poor version of a jaguar xe nuff said
I have always preffered mid range sedans loaded with extras over premium models with base equipment.
Hey Mat Watson ... can you make a video on the 2022 Ford Mondeo ?? That would be helpful....Thank You.
It just a rebranded Ghia. The same at the new ST-Line Fords are Zetec S's really. Might be a a good buy second hand?
Matt be like the car costs only £100000 pounds, but if you click up there u can save £3000 wow that's what we call carwow.
With Fusions/Mondeo's don't put your phone in the cup holder it upsets expensive electrics underneath.
Hmmm shall I buy an Audi A4 BMW 3 Series, or a Mercedes c class?? Oh I know ! I will buy a ford mondeo !! Vroom
Looks sped up at 3:44 Seems to handle just as well as the mk4, perhaps better! I'd like to try the awd version.
Always cool review Matt 😁
Interesting they kept the back from 2017 while 2018 US fusion ahs different tailights.
Nice car, very good looking.
Do a review of Skoda Yeti
i like you are honest , well done
I don't understand. If Vignale is supposed to be the top spec version with better sound proofing and quiet ride, why save money and 'just as well get Titanium model'? Better customer service (supposedly), leather finished dashboard, these nice seats, isn't it exclusive for Vignale? Isn't itsupposed to be above Titanium? I am so confused right now.
I would appreciate explanation greatly.
I’d rather have the Mondeo any day than an Audi, BMW or Mercedes myself
So, this is like what the Mercury brand was in the US, correct?
Should have been a variant above the titanium.
Ford has a premium brand called Lincoln in USA and they have no idea what to do with it
Is the Mondeo Vignale the only saloon in the range?
Give us fair review of Mazda 6 !
I've got one a 2015 zetec pretty much a very basic version and it's fantastic very very smooth and refined I have the 1.5tdci it's not the quickest but it's very good and got a good level of equipment as standard. Fantastic mpg on the motorway. I had an insignia Sri before but had nothing but issues with it so I went for the Mondeo econetic 1.5tdci it's a good looking car I always see people checking it out rather interesting as it's just a bog standard Mondeo
If mondeo is like tomato im not eating it anymore.
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Why not buy the SMax instead, plenty of room for passengers in the rear and it drives like a well sorted hatchback. They also look better
Great review!
Can you review the 2016 Honda Civic please
The ford Mondeo and the ford fusion have almost no difference in between the. But Americans don't get a 5 door and an estate model. I am Pakistani and I love meeting British people. They are so nice and kind.
That car will make a great used car
Please make a review on Toyota Allion 2017 G package?

haha! love the picture in the false floor!
At least it has a proper gear shifter instead of a gimmicky dial!
Even a £2000 saving isn't enough!
I have one. Its a real Nice car
it looks like Indonesia Ford Fiesta Sedan Version
What the fuck?
+Livingston Why the hell are you responding to every random comment?
Entitledprick Cause i can.....
+Livingston And the reason everyone considers someone who does that a total moron, maybe doesn't matter to you, right!
Those tomatoes are OOT.
What is the difference between the mondeo and the fusion
