If you're serious about moving to Costa Rica... don't explore like a tourist!

  • So often, families come to Costa Rica on vacation to see if Costa Rica is the right place to move to.
    This is the wrong approach.
Instead of coming on a vacation, come to Costa Rica and explore like you actually live here. Spend your week days working remotely, shopping and exploring the town you're staying in. And then on your weekends, take a day trip or go explore another region of Costa Rica.
In this video, we describe how to successfully explore moving to Costa and how Your Pura Vida can help you scout the right places for you and your family.

I arrive in less than a week. I scouted and did no tourism. There's time to do touristy stuff once I have boots on the ground. I spent a day in one town, the next in another town, getting a sense of each. I kept returning to my favorite places to see where I felt best. Maybe my first choice won't be the best fit, but I know I've decided based on walking the towns, visiting with Ticos, going to the ferias, etc. I'll AirBnB 3 months to decide if it fits, what part of town to live in, opportunities for volunteering, etc.

Great topic for these gringos. Everyone need to know this information. Came here 2 years ago and the honeymoon is over, so I am here to stay forever. Act like a Tico. Come hangout with the locals in San Carlos. Become a resident , experience a business ownership or car buying, banking, funeral, using the medical caja and more. Why sugar coat it, they should receive information that tells it how it is to live here. Tranquillo, chill down! The honeymoon is over!

My wife and I visited last year in hopes of moving soon. We visited Grecia (the farmers market was amazing), Naranjo, Atenas, and at the end Tilaran and Tronadora. We stay at little Tico Airbnbs, shopped at Pali and ate at mom and pop restaurants. We did do some attractions in between, but we felt like we got real experience our way.

After watching this video i kind of compare it to myself back in the early 2000's moving to Florida. When you visit, it's like "this is great. Warm weather, beaches etc". Once you move there though, you realize you have things like REAL LIFE in the way lol. In 5 years down there i think i went to the beach 4 times. Now, thankfully, i don't work anymore and can enjoy things alot easier but you still have real life things you have to do.
