    Great tank Joey. It looks almost like a mangrove. Can't wait to see what fish you've chosen to be the archers tank mates.

    You should put some K1 media, in the chamber under the blocks, with an airstone. Would be cool to see if you skim anything off the top of the blocks once you increase the salinity

    Venomous brackish fish?
    Well there's quite alot of those.
    My guess would be scats, toadfish, waspfish or morays.

    At some point you'll have to make an "Archer compilation" showing the from when they were really tiny last year until they are really big, at some point, and all the changes they have been through. This would be very cool.

    @The king of DIY For the Archers I would love for you to build a circular tank where the centre is taken out, in it's place have a terrarium in the middle for their food that would naturally climb over and out to be eaten, plus archerfish love swimming, hunting and exploring.

    i work with jellyfish and a good bit of the ones available are brackish, and after working with them a bit i've found that you use freshwater bacteria for anything 1.010 and less, and marine for 1.014 or higher, but they overlap a little in that 1.009-1.013 range. and if you get the salinity above 1.009 you'll also want a good bit of apocyclops copepods to keep the filter media from clogging since brackish bacteria seems to grow very stringy and traps a lot of detritus

  • @jameshong2255
    @jameshong2255 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Wow im overly excited for this brackish water tank. I had one myself with mono kottelati and banded archerfish and some horned nerites. Was gonna add a freshwater moray. I CANT WAIT to see your tank in its prime

  • @jona2590
    @jona2590 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Joey. if you are switching the tank to brackish water i would recommend removing some of the media from it to preserve it for your future freshwater tanks. that way you dont loose all of that bacteria. unless you plan on having more brackish tanks then obviously that would be fine.

    I swing my brackish hard When I do water changes. Some times I do 50% all fresh water or sometimes I do 1.023 salinity. Some times I do 1.007. Just depends on how lazy I feel doing water changes. The fish love it.

    • @joeyspijkers9867
      @joeyspijkers9867 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      MoneyMatt16 brackish fish are adapted to changes in salinity though. When the tide is high, more saltwater comes in. When there's been a lot of rain, a lot of freshwater comes in through rivers. Although I think those changes would be more gradual than described here.

    I keep all my livebearers in brackish water. I also keep my fiddlers in brackish water as well. For some reason I don’t ever have to do water changes. I just swap out the filter and top off the tank and they thrive and reproduce like crazy. I give 10 fish away and the next morning I’ll have 30 more fry.

    I had two Mono Sebaes in a freshwater tank and they were super aggressive to their tank mates. So I converted them to full salt and dropped them in my 300. Those saltwater fish instantly put them in their place. “No so aggressive anymore, are ya? Are ya?”
