    • @chrisgilligan4968
      @chrisgilligan4968 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends on what you consider a mid-life crisis car....since you're looking at the absolute top end of the bike range - you'd have to also look at the top end on the car range....Bugatti Divo has a list price of close to $6M. I think the ratio is still good. Besides you can still get a midlife crisis bike for under $10K if you want to shop around a bit.

      If it was made in Canada, USA or Europe i could swallow the price, but when it is made in the same chinese factory as every other bike, it is a bit rich. Plus their build quality has not got a good reputation.

    2 points: the cockpit isn't really integral, it's modular, you can change angles and lengths etc. Also the stem does go up, but that's because there's no steerer sticking out of the head tube, if there was then it would look more normal. This bike is LOW on the front end without any spacers. I had the 2019 model and sold it on, I wasn't really happy with the brand and the quality. My seatpost slipped and popped all the time. The bike looks great but I had a few more niggles of things that just weren't very good with it. I wasn't as impressed. It was super fast though!

    1:28 disc brakes are more and more popular in the pro peloton
    pro peloton: we ride what we are given, and if we have a choice like Ineos and Jumbo, we obviously ride rim brakes.
    6:08: watch your back. That bike is at least 1kg above the UCI weight limit, you know, that limit we already reached back in 2004 for pro bikes with the 'legalize my Cannondale' advert.

    Wondering who, beside top athletes that don’t actually have to shell out the 17k-18k dollars, can justify the cost of a bike like this? In my mind, the market has to be really tiny with a few people buying this bike, using it for a few hours, then locking it in an armoured glass case to keep it in pristine conditions.

    Why is there a junction box sitting out front?? Is that so you can get the extra shifters hooked up? If yes, the answer is not an extra junction box to get you your extra port, rather the Y junction and a f2f junction. If the answer is no, well then I’m not sure what is going on 😂

    • @nicholasdargus401
      @nicholasdargus401 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Y junction goes through the v stem and is connected to the RD, FD and battery by the female-to-female junction and the cabling. Left side goes to the left shifter and connects to the first port; second port goes to the extra shifter. Right side goes to first port of the right shifter; second port connects to the first port of the A junction; second port of the A junction connects to your extra shifter. This is my setup, with the extra item that my wireless unit is installed in the left handlebar and chained between the left shifter and the extra left shifter. Best you draw these things out in advance to get the layouts correct.

    • @waynosfotos
      @waynosfotos 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes correct, and i know of one major flaw, the headset design. The designers must of had a hard night out on the town the day before they designed that thing. It has a small internal stop and if anybody knows anything about carbon, point pressure is a major no no. If you your headset fails, you face plant the tarmac. I wouldn't ride this bike if you paid me, if you drop it or the handlebars are turned hard, you could create an incipient fault, then you could have a failure just riding along. For this money you can buy a Bastion bike made here in Australia, and these things are awesome bikes.

    Please please don't by this bike, had two cervelos and the finish is poor, they now come in matte to hide the imperfections. The cabling is poor routing so it is a must to have electric + it is heavy.
    The S5 handle bar has a major flaw, it has an internal stop because of the pin design in the head set. This stop inside the head set impacts the carbon in a small area, if you crash, or turn the handlebars hard or say it falls over it can delaminate the carbon internally creating an incipient fault, which could lead to catastrophic failure just riding along. Plus this bike is stupid expensive for the Dura or Red. And it is made in china. Even the ultegra is 11k aussie . Nope!
    If you think i am just hating on Cervelo, then check out luescher technik, he is a carbon expert, and has a vid about the handlebar stop. cheers.

    • @chrisgilligan4968
      @chrisgilligan4968 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When the guy from Luescher said, "you're not even turning it that far"....the rest of his comments lost some credibility. You're turning it past 45 degrees before there is impact. Nobody under any normal riding circumstances is turning the bars that far. Is it a flaw that your frame could get seriously damaged in a fairly significant crash? It appears like Cervelo was trying to enclose the cables in a way that would stay aero while turning....As time goes on and more of these are out on the roads - let's hear what the incidence of this type of failure is before we're blasting it as a major design flaw. Remember that the bikes at the highest end of the range are designed primarily for pro riders who don't pay for their bikes. And if a frame breaks, it gets replaced.

    • @jhvanderstighelen
      @jhvanderstighelen 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@chrisgilligan4968 was actually worse than that. The issue was, any even small incident in the bike could cause an internal impact, even the bike falling over on a soft surface such as grass. Its hard to determine the likelihood, but seems more likely then not over a period of ownership. . The leverage and inertia of the fork, wheel, bar/stem cockpit and the moment of impact against a small internal area, is asking for trouble, and worse of all, any damage would be from inside and very difficult to spot. Also, professional kit is not designed to be fragile (DuraAce for example is pretty solid generally), so i dont see this as an excuse. Its such a pity, as i absolutely love the look of this bike, but this really shocked me, and would be such a liability to own, and even worse to buy second hand IMHO. Cheers

    Dear #CyclingTom, Basically all super fast aerodynamic bikes have hit the SOUND BARRIER, just like super fast airplanes back in 1947. It wasn't until they discovered how to break the sound barrier that suddenly they were able to reach speeds of well over three times over the speed of sound by the late 50s. The same thing is happening with the modern bike.. They need to discover rotational wheel balance, so when its combined with Aerodynamics... BINGO! Suddenly the new modern bike will be able to go faster, safer, and handle like its on rails going 70mph plus.. Yes, 70 plus.

  • @dansotelo228
    @dansotelo228 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    For $17K you would think this bike would incorporate a very basic technology called wheel balance... I am going to make one thing clear, "FROM THIS DAY ON" (7/21/2020), if any so-called super, new generation bike does not have a "Wheel Balance System", it's just all hype! Because just like your car or motorcycle at high speed if the wheels are not rotationally balanced it can not even go 40 mph or 80 klm before it starts to shake and fall apart. Well, I got news for everyone in the cycling world... The same thing goes for hyper 2021 bikes traveling over 40 mph or 80 klm, if the wheels are not rotationally balanced their performance in speed and handing is drastically, and negatively affected. But of course, the Bicycle Industry refuses to incorporate a wheel balance system, because it adds costs, and they do not understand it. Meanwhile, all they do is give you these great Aerodynamic figures because that is all they understand and know... So yes this hype on this new bike is a JOKE.

    • @waynosfotos
      @waynosfotos 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well actually i will let you in on a BIG secret everyone. If a frame is UCI compliant, it then can't be that aero. In the 90s the UCI limited the frame design outlawing bikes like the LOTUS and RMIT superbike, one piece designs, they were very aero bikes, they also limited postions like the superman and the praying mantis. So yep, the UCI has intentionally limited the way frames are made to limit aero advantages. So any aero bike UCI compliant is not really that aero by design.

      It better last longer than a motorcycle or the rest of my life being the fact it's a bike but nothing lasts forever lol! Getting hit by a car a motorcycle is damaged with a car a bike is completely destroyed

    Engineering sucks on Cervélo and at the price? You can get a Ducati. Sorry, no Chinese bike is worth that much.
