    When I was a teen in the 1970s, I used to ride horses at the Singapore Polo Club. On Saturdays, we would go on a lively hack, some of which crossed through an old Chinese cemetery. I was always baffled as to why we were permitted to gallop through.

      Were the grave well spaced apart? Could be one of those "hidden" graves that come under "no one's care" due to it age. We have some graves as well at Bukit Brown near MacRitchie Reservoir. Not sure if any one is even in charge of the place.

    • @DovieRuthAuthor
      @DovieRuthAuthor 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DiscoveryWalkingToursTV It was a very old cemetery with most of the grave markers gone. We stayed off of the actual graves and traveled along the open spaces surrounding the blocks of graves.

      @@DovieRuthAuthor Thanks for the sharing. Its quite rare to have any unmarked graves near the city these days. I guess eventually, the government will take over the land and turned it into something "useful" like more residential estates.

    Ahhh thank you Heman. I was wondering and puzzled as to Alan's motivation to do a cemetery ride at LCK until I read Heman's comment. A 7th month theme! That explains it!👍

    I apparently was the first lift filmer to do LCK Columbariums.
    I plan to finish off my series with a visit to Nirvana (provided security is OK)!
    I was even the first to do Mandai Columbarium lift and escalator.

      Glad to hear from you Rudolf 😊 it's not a location most Singaporeans will visit. As a Chinese, all of my relatives that passed away were cremated (and their urns placed at home or at temples) therefore there was no chance for me to come here.

    I'm curious, why do the Chinese graves so small? Do they bury the coffin standing up?

    • @lecherhao86
      @lecherhao86 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To answer your question. The Chinese graves have to be constructed small as land is rare in Singapore. Got graves not bad already. Most people are just cremated nowadays.

    • @remsan03
      @remsan03 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lecherhao86 Thank yo for your reply. I myself a Chinese person; live next door to Singapore. And we still bury the dead in the "usual" size plot (that is 1 by 2meter). Many of my family members were also cremated and released into the sea. So, there are no tombstones. It just that I see the Christian or the Hindu graves there are the usual plot size. So, I still don't understand about the limited land size reasoning. And I'm still curious, does it mean that they bury the coffin standing up?
