      59.26 , 20.74 are
      correct
      Ra = 53.34 + 5.926 = 59.26

    when you were finding for the member reaction matrix for member 2 @ 18:30 why did you assume that the member is fixed from both sides, you can apply the FEM as FEMbc= WL^2/8 since its a roller ended beam. Because you will be getting a different answer if you're assuming its fixed ended from both sides

    • @DCBAonline
      @DCBAonline  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ahmed Ismail while writing those equations you need to consider all supports to be fixed, the fact that it is a roller would be used in Step 7 when you cancel out all what is not required.

    • @ahmedismail4743
      @ahmedismail4743 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      So you mean that if i applied the advanced FEM equation for the roller ended part as WL^2/8 it would be wrong when am writing down the Reaction matrix, And its a must to to assume that its always a fixed end even though its not always fixed ended? Thank you sir for your quick response and you have earned your self a new subscriber :)

    • @DCBAonline
      @DCBAonline  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ahmed Ismail by writing advanced FEM equation u mean finite element method quation or fixed end moment equations?, that step was reaction step and you need to write the fixed end moments ans reactions generated at each span and for that matte you need to assume every span to be a fixed end span.

    • @ahmedismail4743
      @ahmedismail4743 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      DCBA online I mean the fixed end moment equations for a roller/pin ended span like in this example which I was suggesting to use wl^2/8 and assume that it's only fixed from one end which is b when analysing Member 2

    Why [Ar] is subtracted from [Aj] in calculating combined load matrix.please reply soon.

    • @DCBAonline
      @DCBAonline  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well to just simply say, it is the method which has to be followed but if you want an explanation than, there we are dealing with two kinds of matrix one is a load matrix and another one is a reaction matrix, take note that both are opposite in nature to each other and hence if we have to combine them we have to change the sign of reaction matrix i.e. done by subtracting it and hence Ar is subtracted from Aj.

    When calculating the member reaction matrix Ar. The moment in the middle M=10 kNm was not included in neither members. was that a mistake? What if there is a force in the middle.

    • @DCBAonline
      @DCBAonline  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Youssef Cherqaoui no it's not a mistake, Ar is the reaction matrix and no force is to be included in that, the moment of 10kNm has been included in Aj matrix which is a joint load matrix in which all loads on the joints have to be considered. Force in the middle means where exactly please specify joint location or beam location

    Sir I applied this procedure for a fixed beam. But I didn't get answer sir. Is there any modifications, for fixed beam problems

    • @DCBAonline
      @DCBAonline  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      seelam manohar there is no modifications you can apply it to a continuous beam, by fixed beam do you mean a single span with both ends fixed? I guess such a problem would not be solve as all the rows and columns would be deleted later, for both ends fixed you need to solve it using energy methods like castiglianos theorem or flexibility method or unit load method or moment area method etc

      It was included in Aj as a joint load. As you end up assembling Ac from Aj and Ar it would be doubled if you included it in Aj and Ar.

    There's a mistake in the solution. How come MB is zero ?!?!

    • @DCBAonline
      @DCBAonline  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      it has to be zero since the joint is getting rotated, as it gets rotated it means it cannot give resistance to the loads hence the combined moment has to be zero at such joint, from stiffness method you get Mba + Mbc = 0
      In other methods we do get values of Mba & Mbc but in those methods as well there summation leads to a zero moment.
      The sum is not wrong.
      You can check it by solving through any software you want.

    • @kojak20082009
      @kojak20082009 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      DCBA online if you check it by any software it will give you the actual value of the moment at B. The correct way to get BM is by calculating the forces for each member separately

    • @DCBAonline
      @DCBAonline  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      abduallah adi yes it does but what i mentioned in my previous comment is that if you sum up moments at that joint it should give you zero and that is what you get in stiffness method, if you want the value of moment carried by member BA or BC you will have to separate them and find the moment values separately. From stiffness method if a joint is rotated you will get the value of moment as 0 since it cannot resist the rotation.

    • @venkatesh2285
      @venkatesh2285 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      sir I can understand that you have applied the equilibrium condition at the joint... if the two moments were added together at the joints then it will become zero to statisy the equilibrium condition. but the question is how it doesn't resist the rotation? if we consider the individual moments then it will resist corresponding to the individual span??

    • @venkatesh2285
      @venkatesh2285 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Venkatesh janakiraman if the roller support is provided at the end of the beam means then it will not resist the rotation but if the same is provided as intermediate support then it will behave like partial fixity na. I know that roller support never resist rotation and horizontal translation. kindly clarify the doubt is I am right??
