- This video ends up taking a few left turns. We start off by de-greasing the front axle and motor on the 27 Model T. After the axle was de-greased I got a call from a buddy who wanted to go look at a car. Didn't have to twist my arm to hard so I hopped in the truck and we went to check out a 50 Ford. She needs a little bit of love but we put it on the trailer and brought her home. Once back at my place I finished off the floors on the T, a little bit off an odd video but fun non the less.

I love those old shoe box Fords
I like the '50 Ford project
That Ford 4 door is pretty cool!
The 283 in my dads old 66 Chevrolet step side.. It would smoke the tractor tires..
Yes let's see you guys get it running. You have a 283 there and the odd valve cover is from a 327. I had heard that Chevy only used that cover for a few years as it seemed to cause some oiling issue with the valve train (not sure on that) but they did go back to the original design non the less. The "T' is coming nicely also.
Paint it, And yes do the FORD!!
Paint always makes everthing look nicer in my opinion
I guess a good thing about having a stroke is I can go back and watch all the videos again for the first time.
Sometimes though I see my previous comments and and think WTF?
Definitely get the 50 running! Have to hear that flathead roll.
Make that shoebox run!!
haha
Definitely a project car. I dated my wife in a 49 ford in 1963. It was a two door. If you happen to know anyone who can convert this from a four door to a two door that would be a good move. Lead sled that rear window a bit. Yeah, a real project car. Regards, Solomon
yeah, a conversion would b kinda cool
Great video
Yes to the 50 Ford
Please - paint the axle. The body looks great, but you have a good look going with the frame, too, so carry that through the axle.
I use oven cleaner. Trim down the shell grill instead of slanting it, and love the axle not painted but maybe would paint the backing plates.
Yes, oven cleaner works great. Cheaper also!
Can't wait to see more of the Shoebox!
Dollar store oven cleaner.. cheap and great grease and oil removers. Slow going on the floors. Keep at it. Your getting close.
That 1950 Ford looks solid make a cool cruiser for Mike ,paint the fenders ,get her running check the brakes.enjoy
Hey Danny I found in one of my books that it's a 57 thru 66 - 283 2 bolt block.Hope this helps buddy. That's not a bad old Furd your buddy got there. Well worth the swap. I'd like to see that running, I'm guessing it's got a flat head in it so let's see the thing running. Then he can work on it for a week or two and then leave it sit for a year until you buy it. lol - Later
thanks buddy!
Same as I found.
A small difference. A '57 283 block does not have side mounts cast. They were front mounts only.
Dan, take a look please, I can't tell.
Some of the late 57 had both and almost all of the small blocks had the front mounts up until the late 70s Or should I say they had the bosses for them but didn't always drill them out, but you can. Also don't use a long bolt in the front top mount on the passenger side or you will lock up the fuel pump.

Between you 2 and Jonathan I've learned a ton. Great work on the interior. You gotta get off that kind of work for awhile tedious. I wish I could weld half as good as you guys.
The shoebox looks like a great project. Your T is outstanding
Thanks
Thanks 👍
It would be nice to see the Ford running.
It would be nice to see ANY ford running ! Why do you think everybody sells kits to put a Chevy in it !
Paint the axle. Chop the shell. Fire up the Ford. Keep up the good work. Thanks for sharing.
Paint the front axel and chop the grill shell . Love the ford .
I can't wait to see the running an driving.
Even 4 door shoebox's make nice looking tail dragger customs!
A video on getting the old shoe box ford running would be cool
Oven cleaner works great , it also etches the surface ready for paint when it's dry .
Great tip!
Uh let's see. Don't tilt the shell, section it even with the cowl. Paint the axle AND backing plates a contrasting color (red, white, or even copper). The "shoebox "is screaming to be a early 60's low custom 2 door. And Dannis' gettin the hang of the drone ....whew! There was a lot in that great vid.👍
hahaha thanks buddy! u watched front to back thats for sure
Cool old Ford... Another great video 👍👍🇨🇱
Yes let get it fired up
Definitely wanna see u all get her running
I'm thinking paint the axle. And the shoebox; that's on my bucket list of cool cars to own. Sure get it running.
Paint axle black, section the 32 grill and mount it strait is my vote
Paint it and chop the grille!😎🌴
I've used that "Totally Awesome" cleaner from the dollar store for degreasing and was very impressed with results (and it's cheap!). Also, 409 works really well.
a few people have said that. ill have to look into it
The 'shoebox' Ford is one of my favorite cars. The sketchy trailer loading was amazing and no one was killed or injured during the filming. 👍
haha sotry of my life
@@DDSpeedShop I think most of us that drive sketchy cars do some sketchy operations .😇
Thanks that was lots of fun. Got to get 4 door going. 👍😎
Good video love the Tall T
Get the Ford running. Cool project. The T is looking good.
I like the floor. Simple but strong. Not overdone. And yes paint the axle.
Love the fifty Ford!" 👊💨
Paint the suspension to match the frame. Yes tilt the radiator back. Dads not a fan of the rusty ole t, oh well Is he a chevy man LOL When my mom and dad got married they owned and drove a 49 Ford like that He liked it. Or sure talked about a lot.
Hi Dan. I like the old chrome T rad support. Paint the axle. Shoebox Ford's cool.
That's the plan!
i use purple power with dawn dish wash soap added to it . works great the grill looks good leaning
Headers came out great !!, old school look !!
D.D. Call me a purist but I think all under carriage pieces should be black.
its mostly oem haha
Oem with rusty flare
@@DDSpeedShop Dan OEM ???? Part number XXXXXXXXX No sorry , we don't have any of them in stock right now , lol . Bartender give me some of what even Dan is having and a set of them BLINDERS he's got!! PS. Steve is such a good boy puttin up with that drone .
O.E.M = Old enough mess 🤣😂👍
I like that your honest you don't try sugar coat your work i think you do well .
thanks buddy. just show what i do and i know im not perfect hha
Glad you're back!! That Ford will be fun, especially for a Chevy guy!!
haha thanks paul
Paint the suspension/drive train stuff, leave the exterior body and shit rusted. Hell i wouldn't even leave the wheels painted. You're an inspiration man! You give me motivation lol
thanks buddy! really appreciatae it
Looking good! It looks like Dani is getting better with the Drone. Can't wait to see it running.
Love the show....
Use a shifter boot on the floor around the steering box
Paint it Black, pull leather straps on doors for closing and limiting door swing. Looks great
Oven cleaner works great
I think since you have the frame painted.. That shows where you started.. I'd leave the rest rusty..
I think that's a perfect mix of contrast..
Car’s coming along great. You know you need to grab the 50. That car so needs to be saved. Love the videos.
Put a shifter boot on the steering shaft. The square bottom of the boot will be close to the size of the opening of the floor and the top would be close to the size of the steering shaft above the universal joint.
good idea! thanks buddy
Love to see you get it running !
use a shifter boot to cover the steering knuckle be sure to make a plate to screw it down and your good to go they come in square shape or round and finding the right one in a junk yard is highly likely... keep up the good work.
yeah, good point!
Man, I love your show you and the Mrs. are an awesome couple. You have some very cool rides.
thanks thomas!
Oh I dig that shoebox. You might be in trouble …looks like Danni liked it too lol
yeah it was a pretty cool rod
Gotta love the wifey always got tour back! Making sure you covered the carb!
haha yeah she's "helpful"
Section the grille shell. Good proportions are very important. Paint or patina...whatever...is nothing compared to the car having the proper profile. And you're nailing that so far!
totally agree
I would love to see more of that old ford!!
im sure ill get back to it this summer
Because there are far fewer fords of that vintage around and it has its own quirky elements it would be great to see it running/driving again.
As a guy with a ‘51 shoebox driving project, looking forward to shoebox content
Would love to see ya stuff an ls in that shoebox. I'm building a shoebox and was throwing idea around. I'm a chevy guy at heart. Just fell in love with the shoebox body lines. Love your channel. Glad to finally see good canadian content on you tube.
Its amazing how a lot of time and a little love can turn yard art into a good lookin roller
Awesome thows old fords guys would put v8 in them back in the day , here in New Zealand but now they like them restored 👍🏾👍🏾 you will get there 👍🏾
3849852 is a 64-68 283 engine.
Ya please get that 50 ford going its one of my vavs, great lines on that thing.
totally sweet car
Dan: I like to use Purple Power or a generic equivalent. A gallon is under $10.00, cleans greasy stuff good and is an excellent interior cleaner. It would take a case of Gunk to do what a gallon of the purple stuff will do and no greasy film afterwards!
need to get that shoe box running
I use “Purple Stuff” for degreasing!! The shoebox Fords are friggin badass!! Definitely gotta do a fire up video!! Great video as always!! Have a great weekend!!
Thanks! Will do!
First things first; Dani makes tacos? A true gourmet! Eat 'till you're sick, yeah! Oh, and yes get the shoebox running. Black satin front axle.
It is a 1950. Front park lights and no chrome trim around the tail lights. I like this the best of the shoe boxes.
Make it a 2dr!!! Shoeboxes Rock !!!
now your speaking my language!
Angle the cowl. Don't section it. Could be useful on a different project. No need to paint anything . Just make it go. You have done a great job fabbing up the floor pans. Looks awesome. Making ramps for your car hauler trailer needs to go on your to do list.. Yeah right.
One of my favorite cars...
With the frame already done I would paint the front end! I think a few videos on getting the shoe box going would be awesome! Love what you guys do! I look forward to every video!
I dig that drone!
Noted!
Oh yeah on the t, give the grill a little tilt and it will be mint 👌👌
That deal you found on the seat of the ford holds the registration and it fits around the steering column, I can remember seeing them in old cars when I was a kid. I like your winch set-up, might have to look into that, especially for the dog, I've got a Beagle that likes to escape, Lol.
the 3500lb winch could probably hold back a beagle haha
Hi there Dan the "T" is looking good there it would go on and paint the axle. The floor panels are coming along nicely. The 50 Ford four door is cool I had one about 20 years ago made a Street Gasser out of it. I didn't finish it because a guy wanted it and made me and offer so down the road it went. (All I have is a few pictures of it) Well I got a 49 Two door I'm working on now it's my Gasser project I'm keeping it. Had another one it was a 50 two door but it was to bad to fix so just took the parts off so have it I need them. It's going to be interesting to see what's done with the 50 Ford. 🤔
I want to see the 50 Ford run. I had one in a two door one time. It was only a six cylinder but fun anyway.
I like the Ford
Enjoyed.......Paint the front end to match the frame. Section the grill.
Ya killing me! Who does that song with the organ playing me. I think I remember it when I listened to 60's music in my hippy dads auto shop 40 years ago. I watch all your videos so just mention it please. I gotta have it!
I’m not usually a Castroll guy but their super clean degreaser works great
I win this one internet! Lmao! Made my day!!
haha
This is going to be a cool build! Do all the old school custom mods...skirts, drenched headlights. Hudson's Fab Shop on TH-cam has been fixing one up... he even put 1954 FORD wheel well openings on it..
Don't think I've ever seen drone footage inside of a garage. Liked it! Love how the rod is coming! My vote, flat black up front and yes, would love to see the old shoebox running! My channel is mostly outdoor stuff but I have been a car guy for 55 years. I do have some car stuff on my channel including a local cruise from last weekend. Why don"t you and Dani pop spme popcorn and check it out? Cheers!
Paint it and i love my 51 Ford with a turbo LS
I vote...GET IT RUNNING !!!
Hey Dan and Danni , Things still are a happin' over at your place . Glad to see your happy with the drone Danni . Lori's little brother is much into drones. If you look up WalubFPV on youtube you can see some of his videos . Things sure look different from up there . Have a great long weekend !
we'll check it out. we need all the help w can get haha
Love the 50 Ford. Get her running. I use heavy duty easy off to degrease engines etc. I vote paint the axle etc.
I like looking at your builds, you give out lots of good information as your building. Not really a Chevy person, I’ve had lots of them there cheap and everywhere. I’m a Mopar person I working on a 1926 Dodge. Building a 1955 Chrysler New Yorker 331 hemi to go in it. I always liked a shoe box the 50s ford with a flat head V8. I think I would paint the front axle to match the frame. Enjoy your videos, keep up the good work
thanks man! sounds like a cool old dodge
I'd paint the axle etc. I'd also take a couple inches out of the she'll, so the she'll isn't leaning back. My frame, axle, diff. & motor are all black with a natural patina body. ...Newk from Kentucky
Great build really enjoy the channel . If your not concerned about painted surfaces I find oven cleaner to work best I pick it up at dollar general and it’s usually cheaper than engine degreaser. I would paint the axle black thanks again for the great videos
thanks for watching! really appreciate it
I'm new ti the channel so I don't know if you decided to paint on not paint the Axle but i think I would paint. Glad I found your channel, and it would be cool to see the old ford run
That 49, is Easier to convert to a Two- Door, than a Tri- Five..
yeah i think your right
I'm pretty sure your friend got the better end of the trade with that Shoebox Ford!!!
i think so too haha
I love the old Fords. (In HS , 64-68) I had a 47 and a 53 Ford, GF had a 50. My dream Ford is a 55 Vickie
