But now I am DEFINITELY excited to see what I'm sure will be an epic crossover in Deadpool & Wolverine this summer!! I really want to watch Deadpool 2, but let me know if I should react to it! 😂 this one was definitely a fun watch but SUPER interesting trying to censor this to the best of my ability so this video wouldn't get struck down the second it saw the light of day AND YES I wanted to trim this down to maintain my family-friendly approach to the best of my ability here. That said, it was still impossible for me to trim out everything, so apologies for the swear words and violence that slips in here and there.

Deadpool's 4th wall breaking is actually considered one of his powers. He's well aware that he's a fictional character and references it regularly.
It's not really one of his powers, but they pushed it over the top with Gwenpool. Basically her main power is knowing all comic books and being able to jump panels and stuff.
In most versions, yes but there are a few where he is just insane and believes that he’s fictional and he just happens to be right

Stan Lee is also one of the biggest hype-men ever, he'll never admit to anything negative, like how he refused to do any of the other umpteen lines they wanted him to do (the one in the movie is the only one he would say), or that Roger Corman's Fantastic Four movie was never meant to be seen in public.
What makes this film so much funnier to me, is the fact that he kills everyone asking where Francis is but everyone knows him as Ajax

It’s been very interesting learning about the campaigning Ryan Reynolds had to do in order to make this happen, I had no idea at the time when the movie was released that it was a huge labor of love from him to get this made

The *origin* of Deadpool in Origins:Wolverine is actually accurate - he was part of Logan's unit, he did get his powers from Logan's healing gene copied and pasted into his... but everything after he becomes Deadpool ... we don't talk about it.
The origin in this one was created for the movie but once he becomes Deadpool, he is much more faithful to his comic roots.
It's sort of 50-50
Both movies get it half right.
A sketchy government agency gives him a treatment of being given JUST Wolverine's healing factor to cure his cancer that's killing him.

I'm glad that you've seen Ferris Bueller's Day Off *before* this movie, so that the post-credit scene makes more sense.
When the first 2 Deadpool movies released they weren't owned by Disney, so they aren't part of the MCU and didn't need any approval from Disney. Since Disney acquired Fox they got the X-men franchise back. Though the success of the first 2 Deadpool movies should ensure that they continue to be R-rated. If you aren't familiar with the comics, Deadpool is one of a handful of characters who break the 4th wall in the comic books too. You should definitely react to Deadpool 2. Great reaction!

Not just through the success of the first two movies. The massive failures of nearly all of the post-phase 4 movies means Disney needed a win, so they (hopefully) couldn't afford to mess with D&W.
If you read the comics, this is Deadpool. You can’t make him a PG-13 character without him ceasing to be Deadpool.

Fun fact: The scene where Vanessa gets knocked out in the alley was supposed to be longer. But they had a limited amount of time to film and they had to do the scene as quick as possible. So they had to rewrite it on the spot. Small scene but interesting
What was cut out?
@@geeebuttersnap2433 They were originally going to shoot a scene where Vanessa starts fighting them after they try to take her and she was supposed to put up a huge fight until they got her. They didn't have enough time so came up with the scene on the spot. The owner only gave them a certain amount of time and the day was almost over

they've had a few great casting in marvel movies. mcu had rdj and wesley snipes casting as blade was so perfect they completely rebooted the comics character to match the movie.

If your shocked by the movie just so you know Deadpool is like that in the comics also this was ripped straight from the comics to the screen
One thing they didn't make clear, Deadpool's cancer was never "cured" his super healing heals the cancer cells just like the healthy ones....it's just his healing ability keeps his living cells a half step ahead of the cancer
Indeed, it actually gave him Super Cancer that his Super Healing is constantly fighting against. Hence, the scarring which in the comics is sometimes open sores and they constantly change (makes it easier to draw I'm sure bc you don't have to worry about consistency lol) because he's healed and then the SC comes back in an infinite cycle
They didn't *linger* on it, but Francis actually says Wade's mutation "is killing your cancer as fast as it can form."
Wade's mutation is super cancer, he has an implanted secondary mutation of super healing that heals the cancer and his injuries.
So if a power stealer steals his power, they just get super cancer.

"Leather" is mostly PLASTIC filled with LEATHER DUST. That's one of the things I still remember from decades ago, while studying material sciences and one professor (plastics) talked about the new and expensive "leather" couch he had just bought.
Oh and tanning leather is a very dirty business, plus most of the cow hides are so damaged by insect bites that they are useable only in small pieces.
"What did we just watch?" The best superhero movie ever made, with the possible exception of Deadpool 2 and Deadpool 3. Also the highest grossing Superhero movie till Black Panther.
The difference between the healing factors of Logan and Wade all come down to the fourth wall breaking. If Logan sustains enough damage, he can die. Deadpool knows he’s in a fictional reality, therefore he can’t truly die because he *knows* he can’t die

The first actually good Marvel movie was "Blade," starring Wesley Snipes, and it would
be hard to find more blood in a movie.

Marvel means MCU in the modern vernacular. We all know what it means when someone says Marvel movie. Blade was not a "Marvel" movie.

I realized a subtle thing in the movie....It's crazy how I never saw these the first time....Deadpool is speaking to a victim of the experiment who talks about making banana pancakes with his loved ones as the main villain is about to experiment on that man and Deadpool was low-key selfless in this scene while he was strapped up and was SURPRISINGLY intelligent. He is acknowledging that mans life and offering a friendly listening ear to comfort the man including himself.
“Hey don’t take any shit from him Cunningham.....with a name like Francis”…..Cunningham replies with lessened but lightly existent fear & bewilderment “Francis?" stunned by the humor. Deadpool now *laughs with a black eye also very subtly coughing but not noticeably. You can hear the torture he endured low-key but he’s genuinely laughing as Ajax is now approaching. Deadpool then says, “He got Ajax from the dish soap" spelling Francis in a disrespectful way
which Infuriates Ajax to switch his attention to Deadpool... I THINk Deadpool knew it would switch attention …This makes me think Deadpool preferred himself to be torture grasping that guys attention
Deadpool did this cuz it’s implied Ajax likes when vulnerable people suffer….& Deadpool may have known that because of his experience as a mercenary not wanting to give Ajax the pleasure of "fear feeding” quite the selfless intelligent maneuver…If a psychopath who likes vulnerable beings hurt sees someone screaming in pain or begging, they may get excited & get worse to thrive off that interaction
Deadpool also wasn't just fighting for himself against Ajax...The last thing saw before he passed out was Cunningham burn after round 1 of (Deadpool Vs Ajax)...Deadpool was fighting for the lost lives of everyone in that experimentation facility.
This is a cool detail I noticed about Deadpool amongst many other things in his mainly good/empathetic but flawed nature
This did not need a writer's room because this is how Deadpool is in the comics.
I remember going to see this back in '16 having a clear idea what a DEADPOOL movie *should* be but thinking that they'd never actually do that so imagine my surprise when they gave me an hour forty of *exactly* what I was hoping to see! 😂 Loved how mystified you were by this, hope to see your take on DP2 & definitely want to see more of your Amy Lee covers! PS - This movie was very much in line with what the character has been since it's inception. And, Marvel as a comic book company is not a "PG" organization, per se... the reputation of the MCU as a PG/PG-13 franchise is largely due to Disney, but that has been changing since the end of the Infinity Saga.
at inception deadpool was a basic ripoff of slade wilson aka deathstroke from dc comics. it was shortly after they decided to make him funny

You keep calling this a "Marvel movie." It is not. It was a FOX movie before Disney acquired them and if you check the movie intro, you'll see that it says "In Association With Marvel" Just like Blade, Hulk (2003), Fantastic Four - all of their movies are the same way.
It is a Marvel movie. I think you're confusing a Marvel movie with a Marvel Cinematic Universe movie. Spiderman, X-Men, Deadpool, Fantastic 4, Blade, Howard the Duck. All Marvel movies
The thing about Deadpool is, R-rated is the ONLY way it would work, and that's probably why the studio was so hesitant to actually make it. Until someone (Ryan Reynolds himself, aledgedly) leaked some test footage he'd had made on TH-cam which went viral in 2014, and the rest is history. You should watch the second one, its just as good. :D

@CatherineLaSalle here's some comic book information for you, Deadpool didn't start breaking the fourth wall till he got his super powers.
Reason is that was when he knew he was a fictional character and so is everyone he interacts with.
Now yes She Hulk was the first Marvel character to break the forth wall but she was just giving the readers what she's thinking, where as Deadpool was actually interacting with the readers.

Marvel characters aren't specifically in the MCU...Marvel cinematic universe is a studio. Sony, Fox own a few, and some can be used by everyone
