- If you are into your vehicle stats and key performance figures then this video is for you. We whipped out Excel and did some calculations (which is pretty tough for a group of journalists) on which cars get to 100kph in the fastest possible time. We then accounted for budgets using a barrier of R1 million to see what value could get for your money.
The results were super interesting. Ciro De Siena takes us through the top 10 cars on this list and just how fast they accelerate to 100kph. Are there any surprises in this list? Let us know which you would pick in the comments below.

That should be qualified - maybe a politician, linked to both government (incorrectly) or something shady. That being said the prices would help as the fastest EX30 is over just shy of a million as far as I can see on the web so fastest = cheapest 🤑

A lot of people don't know, but Volvo likes to make fast cars for the lols since they enjoy using a Supercharger and a Turbo charger in their 4 cylinder engines for T8 models.
And those are all above R1m
That setup has been known to be an expensive maintenance headache. I mean it costs just under R26k(R11K each plus labour) to do two rear wheel bearings for a Focus ST, a meer Ford. Now imagine how much it will be to fix anything on that T8 drivetrain.
You left out ERAD(Electric Rear Axle Drive). Basically an electrified rear wheel drive system that works with the forced induction VEA(Volvo Engine Architecture) engines.
Give me that Volvo XC 60 any day, i use it at work, it's a great car.
I have 5 children, so I have the XC90, but the 2004 model.
Speed, space, comfort, luxury and I'm now looking at the electric model, because I'm not ready to give up on the luxury yet.
And not ready to move to a Mercedes yet that my children will eventually mess up 😂

I bought a Golf 8R in Lapiz Blue with Akrapovic and just love it. And actually tested 0-100kmh in 4.5 seconds in perfect conditions... Completely stock
All forgetting the clubman JCW claim at 4.9sec but realistically around 4.6s 😂😮😂 I'm getting mine in a few days time cannot wait 😊

I think you missed to mention a couple of Japanese cars here… what about the two Toyota GRs, Yaris and Corolla 1.6T Fours. These two can easily break the 100 kpu in the 5 second bracket. And what about the Honda Civic Type R? Sure this one is right on the million Rand marker, but surely worthy of a mention?

Good to see these kind of stats as well with a fun factor build into it. Can you do a 80 - 120 km/h list some time. Maybe not so exciting than the 0 - 100 timing but this is whats required to pass a vehicle on a busy road.

or an Arial Atom.
For around R300k you can get a decent 987, and still have R700k change.

Ever seen one on the road? I've only ever seen a black FK8 in the suburbs of Pretoria West. I drive along the N1 frequently during peak traffic where I see expensive machinery on the road and I have never seen a CTR, ever.

The FL5 is not that popular but I’ve seen about 3/4 this year already.
That I30N in manual would be godly, the dct is apparently quite jerky. But either way, the I30 N is an underdog, but that golf though, it’s putting me under a tight spot
I would go for the 128ti with the Mzansi Edition kit, I test drove one two moths ago and I must say it is a proper car especially the build quality of the material used in interior. The only downside of the car is that the ride is a bit bumpy but overall I go for it.
Thought Ciro would go looking for these deals on the website.
I would definitely buy the VW type R it's very practical all round everyday drivers car which you can still have a lot of fun with 👍👍

That B58 motor is amazing. Just bought a low mileage G42 m240i with the same engine for under a bar. Sings happily into the red line. Also quite economical for a 3litre 6 cylinder.

Hi have 997 turbo and just bought an ex30 twin motor. The Volvo is faster in most instances 0-160 but the Porsche will take it after that.
