Three years ago, when I was 65, I took my 81 year old aunt to the movie theater when they showed the 68 Comeback Special for the 50 year Anniversary at certain theaters around the country. There were three theaters in Alabama that showed it. We went to the one closest to where we lived. Elvis came out on that huge movie screen, with those beautiful piercing blue eyes, doing the song, Trouble, looking completely through us and every woman went absolutely crazy. I immediately screamed Have Mercy! And the Guitar Man song was unbelievable. It was like being at a concert. We all clapped and screamed with each song. He draws you in with his eyes, his smile, and that sexy charisma. I only saw him once in concert and that was in 1976 when he came to Bham for the first time. He was Elvis, he had lost some weight and he was gorgeous.. While he was singing his last song, they announced we could run to the front of the stage. My cousin and I made it to the front and we were so excited when we were so close to him , that we didn’t even try to touch him. He blew us away. His presence just fell all over you. Dani, as usual, you did an awesome reaction. And I’m sure that Elvis would have blown you away, as he did me.

Now you understand why women screamed at him when he sang at his concerts. I did the same at the Cow Palace in 1976. I just couldn't hold my emotions in any more; stood up on my chair and screamed "Elvis I love you". I was in the front row and he heard me, smiled at me and said I love you too honey. I JUST MELTED..

You need to read the new book out about Elvis'health problems. It is very informative about his life and the reasons he had to use the drugs he used just to maintain. It is called "Destined to Die Young".Elvis would have died an early age without the drugs. How he was able to last as long as he did was miracle!!

I know what you mean about his looks sweetheart. I've been an Elvis fan since I was in first grade. We usually had to ben in bed by eight o'clock when I was a little kid. A little later I guess during the summer. I remember one of the first times we got to stay up late. We were happy just to be up late, whatever the reason but on this night my mom was watching a movie, and it happened to be an Elvis flick named Girl Happy.
I know the movies were mostly pretty silly, but to my first grade self I just kept thinking it was pretty neat to see this cool guy surrounded by girls in bikinis. My mom explained to me that he was a pretty big deal and his name was Elvis Presley.
I wasn't into music at that age but I always remembered who it was and he seemed like the coolest dude around. As I got older and learned more about popular music and culture I became a huge fan and was fascinated with the story of his early years and how he kind of invented this new form of music seemingly overnight.
I was lucky enough to have seen him in concert twice. Once in the early seventies and again in the mid seventies.
You mention his looks and say he doesn't look real. I know what you mean. There are plenty of handsome men in the world but Elvis during this time wasn't just handsome, he had this quality about him that women and men were both awed by. There are handsome men, but no one ever had the charisma that Elvis possessed.
I've often wondered how God could create someone so handsome and then give them one of the most beautiful and versatile voices ever. It boggles the mind.
He had so many gifts, it was sad to see the way his life ended. Most folks just aren't equipped to handle outsize fame.
I'll always love his music and hope he's in a better place.

This TV special was his first television appearance since the Frank Sinatra special upon his release from the army. As it was billed as a 'Christmas special' most folks expected a traditional show. Many traditional Christmas songs..perhaps a new one hear and there to sell records, and a run-of-the-mill Christmas show. Instead, the program opened with an extreme close-up of Elvis warning the viewer(s), "If you're looking for trouble....you came to the right place!" It blew everyone away. After all those crappy movies...he found his way back.

You are the best at what you do. But yes, you need to get the part of King Creole where he is singing Trouble. He will truly freak you out. Two years ago the 68 special anniversary was shown at certain theaters through out the states. We had to order the tickets. I took my 82 year old aunt and we had a blast. It was like being at the original one. Elvis, up on the huge movie screen and it started with him singing Trouble. Women were screaming and clapping and me and my aunt were, joining right in. Most fun ever. He will always be alive thru out the world. Another gorgeous song is Anything That Is Part of You. He will make you swoon. Later
