He always sang like it was the last song he was ever going to sing on earth. Every musician in training should learn about Elvis Presley. In any genre. The dude had EVERYTHING.
That was a great song. I can just imagine all the people in the audience listening to this. One of Elvis's sexy songs of all time. Thank you for sharing with us. A fan for life over 63 years now. Long live Elvis!!

Just like I was back in 1973 and watching him live in person. He was so effortless in his presentation. He was so amazing to watch in person.
I love how Elvis really feels the blues in this song and it drives the Ladies crazy with his dancing face, he doesn’t have to move his legs, he could stand still and sing jailhouse rock, and the girls would still go crazy. Great song and as always off the charts reaction.Oh and please play “I’m playing for keeps”

A fantastic blues from his legendary concert via satelite all over the world. After hearing my deluxe edition of this concert I think it is the rehearsal concert from january 12. Awesome.

I really like how Elvis always interacted with everybody on stage. He's always looking towards them and smiling. He seemed to really like being on stage.

Amazing. This was actually the rehearsal show which took place a few days before the actual legendary Aloha Concert. Elvis is in control and in command of everything.

Elvis was always at first and last a Bluesman. His first songs were covers of Arthur Crudup and Big Mama Thornton. If you go to Graceland, check out his record collection in the Museum behind his house. Mostly Blues!
Oh, this is from the "alternate" Aloha from Hawaii concert. Folks who saw it say that it was the better of the two and the one that should have been broadcast.
Yep. Elvis was understandably far more nervous for the live broadcast, so the alternate - which was taped - was a far more confident performance. The live broadcast was no slouch, of course, but the alternate was that much stronger.
The other version of Steamroller from the actual show is better. He's in better voice.
@@MarkRogersVOCFB I agree with you. The rehearsal version lacks the sparkle. And there was no need to say "One More Time" as the next line was not a repeat of the last. In the live show he ends it with "Yo mother." :-)

Aloha From Hawaii was simply a magical performance and steamroller was certainly one of the best! You saw that jumpsuit! Dang! I remember at the end of that show he was given A fantastic White leather cape that he only wore for one number and then hurled it into the audience! I wonder if The Fan ever gave it back or if Elvis had another one made for the display?
As far as i know, the fan gave it back a few years after this concert.
I don't know if he sold it or if it was bought back.
But i'm not absolutely sure about it!
Dani. Always a great reaction out of you. Just imagine if you would've been older and be in the audience and u come to the stage and Elvis would let you take a towel and wipe the sweat off his face and then he kissed you on the lips. Bet you would have fainted. That happened to one woman in the Elvis on tour thing. She got so overwhelmed by being able to do that she almost fainted. Yes Elvis Presley was the ultimate package. I figured you'd love steamroller blues one of his all-time favorites.

As mentioned in Elvis The Alternate Alowa booklet, perhaps it was the knowledge that this was not The Show that gave this performance its relaxed authority. Perhaps it was in this rehearsal that Elvis proved privtely to himself that he would be able to do it for the world two days later. Perhaps it was just a lucky phase of the moon. But whatever the reason, Elvis never bettered what he delivered that night...
Love this song one of my favorites from the satellite special ! Pure Elvis magic ! Never be another like him ! ! Promise you will pace yourself ! If you spread youself to thin you won't enjoy what you are doing ! !

The song Don't is one of Elvis best. I never see it reacted to. It really showcases his beautiful voice.

After listening and enjoying Elvis's music for 40 plus years, your perspective adds a new element of enjoyment for me, maybe something I didn't catch before. In that vain, have you heard him sing 'Let It Be Me' it's a love song, he sings it live from his On Stage Album? His performance and vocals are strong and emotional creating a great listening experience. I think you would really enjoy this song. Also, you've surely heard, Polk Salad Annie, it's the live version also on this album. Keep the Elvis reactions coming.

I won a radio show contest and the prize was a day with Elvis but our friendship lasted past that one day in time. All the memories of my friend are tucked safe in my heart forever. dancing and singing breaks my heart because i know he is not here anymore my mind understands but my heart never will, i saw him a few weeks before he passed we had a short conversation, which i will never share again because people are so nasty and comment hurtful heart breaking things they do not know me but they still can't keep their mouths closed about things they know nothing about. I walk past Graceland everyday without fail. Love from Memphis Tn..

There were two almost identical jumpsuits, one for the rehearsal (here) and one for the broadcast. This is his most famous outfit and he looks great

The sexy looks and the simple moves start a fire-like frenzy through the entire audience, And when that voice of his comes singing thru, he has you mesmerized, as you hang on to each word that comes out of his mouth. You really should go back they renovated a lot of Graceland back to original when Elvis lived there is just a magical place. is so much better than the rendition of it from the Alternate Aloha concert from Friday, January 12, 1973
(the rendition that's shown in this video).
The Aloha from Hawaii concert was filmed two days later on Sunday, January 14, 1973.
Interestingly enough, this song was written by James Taylor as a parody of blues songs ("I'm a napalm bomb guaranteed to blow your mind"!), yet as performed by Elvis it is anything but a put on. Elvis makes this song powerful and sexy.
I only learned that much later, I didn't even realize it was supposed to be a put on when I first heard James Taylor perform it :) A great blues song either way!

I’m pretty sure this one is from the “practice” show, also known as the alternate version. He recorded this the day prior… in case something went wrong with the live via satellite broadcast, they could switch to this previously recorded version so they would at least have something. Thankfully, the real live broadcast went great and this one was left unreleased until more recent years.

The last great thing Elvis did. I watched the special with my wife last month and her re action was something I didn’t expect. I was 14 when AFH was aired and I still remember watching it. I will say she was not trilled with this great performance. It would take to long to say what she didn’t like. A different generation.

Hi Dani, it seems that there are a lot of singers/song writers that also review music as well as some vocal coaches. Is there some unwritten law that prevents you or them from making contact with all these others and those on to others and start doing reviews on y'alls own music some times. That way your music would be exposed to all of their subs and theirs to yours...Do you see where I am going with this? A Lot of you guys are really good except nobody knows it. Oh well if I didn't do a good job of explaining it, let me know I will do better next time.
