People talk like Rex is stuck in the past. It sounds like THEY are the ones stuck. Last I checked he got interviewed for the Denver job and that wasn't 15 years ago. From what he said they couldn't agree on numbers.
The Jets had a couple bad seasons with him so in typical Jets fashion they ditched him despite being their most successful coach in a long time. They can't keep a coach longer than 5 years, any adversity and fans cry to start over. They will forever be in rebuild mode.
You're forgetting about Art Shell. He got a second chance to coach the Raiders. It didn't work out but it was a nice gesture by the Raiders to rehire him.

The Jets are not a total rebuild. All they need a solid offensive line and a defensive pass rush. Rex would build an awesome pash rush. But is he going to be able to put a productive offense together, specifically an effective offensive line? Jon Gruden's football background is on the offensive side of the game. He had a major injury and wasn't ready to play, that's why he fell in the draft. Don't expect him to ever be a valid option though, he isn't an NFL caliber player.
He was barely a .500 coach back then. That would be an improvement over the Jet's current record. Sadly, it's not nearly good enough today unless they want to rely on luck. He's a big teddy bear and you just want to root for him, but want am I missing? As a fan of another team in the division, I say go ahead. Oh and, good luck.
