Joe Benigno is not really 71 years old. He's 31.
Being a Jets fan has just accelerated his aging.

Rex talks as a bad ass, but he was as much a player's coach as the Jets have ever had. AND the team was as undisciplined as ever.

And he still led the team to two straight AFC championship games in his first two seasons. What's your point? At this point, just making playoffs would be impressive. 14 years is too long to be this bad.

Ryan's Jets won games and stared down the prime of the Brady/Belichick era. I'm a Patriot fan and Rex always had his teams ready to play.
      What is your point ?

@@SportsGerbil You're not wrong, but what is your solution assuming of course that we're stuck with this owner? Rex is absolutely flawed, but he at least cares about the Jets and would want to be here. Who else are they going to get in here? It's the worst job in the league, bar none. And after this season that core "talent" has regressed.

At the start of the 1990’s, I never imagined that the Bucs, Saints, Seahawks, Cardinals, Bengals, Colts, Rams, and Browns (Baltimore Ravens) would all play in or win a Super Bowl, before the NY Jets did. Those were the perennial losers and in 2024, the only losers are the Jets, with 15 years of NO PLAYOFFS. SUCH PUKE.

    • @steves9964

Great point, but don't forget the Falcons or the Patriots becoming the league's foremost juggernaut. Just unreal. Things weren't great with the Jets circa 1990 but it's astonishing how much worse it is now.

    • @Dragon-Believer

Seahawks only started in 1976. They were good in the 80s. They went to the AFC championship in 1983. Chuck Knox was 80-63 as Seahawks coach. The Seahawks got Hall of Fame receiver Steve Largent in a trade for an 8th round pick in their first year.
An interesting thing about Chuck Knox is he went to the Rams and they fired him for drafting Jerome Bettis and traded Bettis to Pittsburgh. Knox also angered management for wanting to draft Brett Favre.

I’ve made this comment a bunch of times, but WHY did the Jets and fans think AR was going to be so great based on he ended things in Green Bay. They basically helped him pack when they drafted J Love. The Green Bay organization couldn’t stand him and his bizarre antics and standoffish personality. None of this surprises me. Everyone else just woke up.

    • @steves9964
      @steves9964 5 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

This is your personal narrative, nothing more. You and so many others don't like him because of how things ended in Green Bay or for his oddities or how he behaves or handles the media. And that's fine. I'm not defending him because I honestly couldn't care less about him. I care deeply about the Jets and that's it. I only care about the green. He's not a Jet nor is he a New Yorker so he can fly on outta here (pun intended) and I'd forget all about him as soon as he does.
Setting aside his play, sometimes there are situations where a change of scenery is worthwhile for all parties. That could have been in play here, if of course the Jets were a competent organization. We know they aren't so the experiment failed. He also sustained a serious injury at 39, so anyone expecting miracles this season was dreaming. The average Jet fan such as myself was just looking for competent quarterback play. That's it. Moving the ball consistently, limiting turnovers and converting third downs and in the red zone. Maybe scoring 20+ points in dare I say, half the games. And in doing so taking pressure off a painted into the corner defense that's been trying to limit damage over the last two years in constantly playing from behind and defending short fields.
It's just funny to me how outsiders speak about "delusional Jet fans" as if we thought this result was impossible and that a Super Bowl was in the bag. Have you seen what we've seen over the last fifteen years at QB? Even a 40-year-old coming off of a serious injury with lots of off the field baggage is better than what they've had. He has certainly not played well, but other than the unexpected Fitzmagic year of 2015 - a year that only happens because Geno got punched out by a backup linebacker over the reimbursement of a $600 plane ticket - he's been the best they've had since 2006 Pennington or 2008 Favre pre-bicep injury.
The problem is the rest of the team got worse, the inept coaching couldn't hold down the fort and ownership came in when the season was teetering on the brink of collapse and overreacted at just the right moment to ensure failure. The kicking game was the best part of the team over the last couple of years; now an extra point is an adventure. The defense hasn't stopped the run since night one, and can't ever get off the field. And then the usual Jet trio of key injuries, lack of discipline and penalties and the general circuslike environment derailed them the rest of the way. I've seen it in many forms over more than forty years following this team. It's gone on for decades before Rodgers' arrival and it'll go on for decades after his departure.
Just enough with the AR narrative garbage; what was their alternative? This organization under this ownership simply refuses to build organically. They always have an eye on someone else's girlfriend. That's what they do over and over again with the possible exception of the Mangini years when they drafted sensibly with building blocks of Brick, Mangold, Revis and Harris in the early rounds of 2006 and 2007. Other than that the emphasis has been on winning the back pages and the offseason. Get people talking about them for firing or hiring someone when other teams are still playing meaningful games. Or spend a high draft pick on an unproven QB then expect him to be properly developed by a defense-first regime. That's been done four times by my count. Or trade for an over-the-hill up Green Bay QB. That's happened twice. This is what they do, so as fans we're relegated into hoping a stop-gap move works out when we know it won't. No real Jet fan thought this guy was leading them anywhere other than into fringe playoff contention, at best. I personally thought he'd play better than he has but end up getting injured, you know, sort of like what happened last year. I think the numerous cheap shots he took in that first New England game at home hampered him because he was moving better that night, and hasn't since. Either way, good riddance. He can take his act and all the outside vitriol it brings somewhere else next year.

Rodgers spent his entire career in Green Bay hating coaches, hating GM’s, blaming teammates for everything. Now he’s on the Jets, and he will never say it…but he’s realizing his success was way more due to the packers organization than himself. There’s a reason the packers always have a great qb and the jets never do. And it’s not luck!! Rodgers has been exposed!!!!

Facts. The Packers are one of the best organizations in the league. I'm not a Packers fan, but they are a model club. They are on their third franchise QB since 1996.

Rogers would never work out with a good franchise. Good franchises don’t allow a QB, no matter how great they are, to dictate scheme and personnel decisions. Rogers audibles away from so many plays into one of three types of route concepts. The majority of Jets positive offensive plays are scheme related. Rogers ruins it by thinking he knows better than anyone. Get that bum outta here

It’s the fact we laugh about these losses, if it were the Steelers, Ravens or hell even the Colts lose games like this they’d have a fan meltdown. We are so used to losing these games that the comedy of errors just become the norm. I couldn’t believe my eyes on Sunday to have the start we had even a kick six. They gave me hope to win a meaningless fun game of football and they still fucked over my Sunday 🤣💀

Just put this in perspective... The last time the Jets won a Superbowl?
Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and Jim Morrison were all still living
    Woodstock hadn't happened yet
    The Beatles were still together
There were no playoffs in baseball yet. The team that won the pennant went straight to the world series
Joe Biden was still three years away from the BEGINNING of his political career
Lyndon Johnson was still the president (for a couple more weeks)
There were families that still didn't have color tv
    I'm just saying

We're on to another 5 year rebuild. Why bench Rodgers is are QB of the future on this team ? NO. I would LOVE to see Rex back here . He bleeds JETS green. If we draft a QB then we need a veteran QB starter. We always make the same mistake we draft a QB then anoint him the starter. It never works out. Lets not forget we all wanted Rodgers. It's obvious he's not the same as he was 10 years ago. We have some very good talent on this team enough to be competitive next year. Unless we can land a quality free agent QB we should start Rodgers at QB he can still sling the ball. This is just my very humble opinion. I'm 70 years old started rooting for the Jets the last year they were the Titans. I just hope I live long enough to see them make the playoffs.
