I live in Washington State. and the dams on the Columbia river haven't had anything more than basic maintenance in 50 years. and if any one of these dams were to fail? it would be a great loss of life. and President Biden is the first and only President to do something about infrastructure.
I thought with season one everything was a big coincidence that so much was still the same. I see season two is no different. Things really don't change
John Oliver has done more to educate the Murricans than your entire school system, and al without a single mass shooting. Y'all should subsidize this show, it's what stands between you and the apocalypse.
I think the point is kind of that the rats were the mode of transport for the fleas? Flea infested rats stowed away on ships, made it to places they weren't native to, the fleas left the rats and hopped into humans, spreading the disease So in a way they did "spread" the disease, they're just not the ones who directly infected us
Actually, I’ve heard a study that said the fleas might’ve been the factors that moved it across the continent, but local spread was probably more due to lice.
It was the fleas that were on the rats that managed to transport the disease across long distances. But recent research has shown that it was most likely lice that transmitted it locally amongst populations. That is why it spread so rapidly, and was so devastating once it reached an area. Lice were everywhere, and clung to fabrics, and it was transported in that manner as well. That’s why once a household had it, even if there were no rats present, it spread without being in a pneumonic plague form.
Just a reminder, the voice of BW and Unicron Trilogy Megatron is reading these Voice Overs. Which I find hilarious as the person who voiced the Decepticon Leader is talking shit about gerbils.

The infrastructure issue hits hard just days after the Western North Carolina dam break. Praying for those displaced, and especially the missing and dead. Is it likely this one was unavoidable? I guess, since it’s so beyond anything we have any record of ever. But it shows us the stakes.
Idk if John Oliver is still doing corrections, but in the gerbil montage the clip used for "buying wheels for them to run on" is actually of two Degus (Octodon degus) and not gerbils.
The tv program Infrastructure could be a hit. The host would be a team of retired inspecters from different parts of the country. Each team would show a different bridge and the best and worst bridge would be selected . Each week would be new additions to the list of most dangerous crossings. If during the season one of the worst ratted bridges collapes that team gets extra points. By the end of the season there will be bridges all over the country that people won't want to cross. Might even encourage governments to fix them.
ok, one comment on the commercial at the end of the Infrastructure main story - there's an awful lot of water behind the Hoover Dam compared to pictures we've seen in the last few years...
Wait?! You can have a sausage sandwich? This is new information to me. I’m interested. I mean, I don’t eat a lot of meat is probably why I missed it but that sounds yummy.

True. Same with Lyme disease. It is not the deer, but that frigging little tick

Fleas don't move over long distances, so they can't effectively spread something across a continent.
It was the fleas that were on the rats that managed to transport the disease across long distances. But recent research has shown that it was most likely lice that transmitted it locally amongst populations. That is why it spread so rapidly, and was so devastating once it reached an area. Trivia: There's so much concrete in Hoover Dam that some of it is probably still curing. (drying)
Curing isn't just drying, it's a chemical process. Concrete dries faster than it cures.
