@@MrMatteNWkWhat’s crazy about the Philly bridge collapse was that they had a temporary bridge built and opened in two weeks, showing that we can fix/repair infrastructure very quickly if it wasn’t for all the neglect.
@@MysteryMii We in Florida had a new bridge build in two weeks after Hurricane Ian destroyed the only bridge leading to and from Sanibel Island. It's amazing what people can do when they put their mind to it.
A suspension bridge that isn’t safe in high winds, according to a HudsonLink bus driver who was driving us across said bridge. There’s nothing to block the wind, so trucks and buses can easily be flipped in high enough wind conditions. Which is terrifying. I hate that bridge when it’s windy.

I think the point is kind of that the rats were the mode of transport for the fleas? Flea infested rats stowed away on ships, made it to places they weren't native to, the fleas left the rats and hopped into humans, spreading the disease
So in a way they did "spread" the disease, they're just not the ones who directly infected us
Actually, I’ve heard a study that said the fleas might’ve been the factors that moved it across the continent, but local spread was probably more due to lice.
Fleas don't move over long distances, so they can't effectively spread something across a continent.
It was the fleas that were on the rats that managed to transport the disease across long distances. But recent research has shown that it was most likely lice that transmitted it locally amongst populations. That is why it spread so rapidly, and was so devastating once it reached an area. Lice were everywhere, and clung to fabrics, and it was transported in that manner as well. That’s why once a household had it, even if there were no rats present, it spread without being in a pneumonic plague form.

That's actually one of the better maintained bridges in America, from what I understand. Regular applications of new paint, and I believe also cable repairs.

Trivia: There's so much concrete in Hoover Dam that some of it is probably still curing. (drying)
Curing isn't just drying, it's a chemical process. Concrete dries faster than it cures.

Parks and Rec is a show about maintaining infrastructure and small town public officials fighting for a cause, and it's legit one of the best sitcoms ever.
Not one minute in and I'm sad. He was my most favorite character ever...

The seasons get uploaded whenever there isn’t a new episode of LWT.
My guess is that they schedule all the episodes in the older seasons to upload at exactly 11pm ET when this is the case, and TH-cam randomly decides what order they get uploaded in.

Okay, but seriously, i could see someone making _Infrastructure_ as a disaster movie: show some real footage of politicians saying how strong some Infrastructure, like a bidge, is, and then the instigating event of the movie is something happening that it was explicitly supposed to handle, causing a collapse or a breach.

Nearly a decade later and the infrastructure is only marginally better, and we're STILL complaining about funding. HINT: raising the fuel tax isn't the answer. Not sending hundreds of billions of dollars to other countries, not funding wars, and cutting the budget of the DOD would be tremendous starts though.
