    Had mine restored with a custom 619 motor. But stayed with a modified 531 turbo. Went with the solid non adjustable front axle for strength. Wishing I had your cab though. I work mine, but detail clean it and it ALWAYS stays inside..mine is a late 1976 year with the larger rear axle that was installed from mid 1976 to the end of the production run

      I would love to see your tractor! The cab is good sometimes, tough to climb in and out of. Someday we will restore it but until then we’re going to just enjoy it. Thanks for watching and sending your comments.

    The one we had on the farm had 246 horse. What a bad ass tractor for the day. 24.5 32 with duals. The tractor is still on the farm with another one to keep it company.

    I’m 30 now, been trucking mostly in the oilfield since I was 18. I pulled grain trains and grain trains with an extended hood Pete, pulled step deck with a 2000 W900L that would run triple digits. Then I ran Kenworth winch trucks for 4 years. Now I’m hauling crude oil with a 2011 W900B double bottom. Legal for around 225 barrels at 105,500.

      @@Thewaywefarm thought that one went on your 2002 Peterbilt video. The 6030 is about as cool as it gets for muscle tractors. Last winter I bought a 1976 4430 for snow removal and a toy.

    awesome tractor...they were pure muscle. I have always scratched my head on their production though...I wonder if Deere kept a model from the "old gen" in production thinking to satisfy the guys who would fight the new 30 series gen SGB's? FFWD 20 years and it would've been like Deere keeping the production of the 4960 going while coming out with the 8000's in1995.

    • @Thewaywefarm
      @Thewaywefarm  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are guys that would still buy a brand new 4960. I think the 155 hp 4630 just wasn’t big enough so they kept the 6030 going until the 4840 was released

    • @EDBZ28
      @EDBZ28 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Thewaywefarm that’s a good point. Halpins told me Stokoe farms bought the first new 4630 from them. And considering the auction prices on 4960’s today…you can guarantee there’d be a LONG waiting list on ordering brand new ones today.

    • @tommckinley111
      @tommckinley111 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Just my opinion, I think Deere was scared it wouldn't sell well enough to justify engineering a "4830" in a SG cab with the 531. Either that or there wasn't enough engineering hours for another project. Deere was certainly busy in those days and there was no such thing as CAD. Took a lot of time drawing all those blueprints by hand.
