You and LTT were at the races to get these videos finished before each other lol
LTT however will do a actual technical analysis and have an testbench to test future cables.
This dude has found great cables but we dont know more than that basically.
I look forward to LTT tests as always
Unless he has early access on float plane and it’s just gonna turn all of their video results into TH-cam shorts.
unfortunely this guy's videos aren't worth more than your average reviewer on amazon or something and has no real way to prove his point.
LTT on the other hand has thousands of dollars of equipment and has literally graphs and data they can show to prove that some cable- while it might work well can still have weird data losses or die prematurely.
This guy's videos are great to find recommendations but LTT has what you want if you wanna get into the topic

"It has to be fast"
USB Standards: "Am I a joke to you?"
Yes they are
There are actually differences between cables. Some are only 60W (3A) while others are 100W (5A). The USB-IF Association mainly standardizes the actual serial bus protocols, connectors, and a 3A minimum. 100W/5A cables are required to have a "e-marker" chip inside that communicates with the device and power source.
You are right though; saying "it has to be fast" is a foolish way to say "it has to support 100W power delivery."
I hate serial connection...

What you want is a Thunderbolt 4 Cable... It should have everything but you will go bankrupt.
Instead he buys a 3.2 Gen 2x2 (or whatever it’s called) lol if anything worse. Even if not TB4 USB4 would also be good
10gbps thunderbolt cable is cheap and enough for most devices.
Damn. After looking I saw that Anker has one. And I just bought their other cable. Good thing it's just for charging rn 🤷
@@NovaIsTheBot I got the same cable too...but I been just charging anyway not transferring data 😂
@@adoboFosho yea. I don't transfer data much anyways. If I'm doing that I have their USB hub. Works out anyways I guess
You never wondered what those numbers printed on the cable mean?
Plugging the cable in and seeing if it charges is not the correct way to test cables. Instead, you should have set it up with a load and tested the voltage drop, current capacity and other standard usb spex factors, without any uncontrollable variable (like random devices)
Good point. He also could have done that test together with the random devices. So we get a comparison for real world application, and Raw ability

by far the biggest issue with usb cables I have is longevity.
seriously
they almost invariably go figglety not in years, but months!
I have a usb a cable I use for charging my mouse and I have been using it for about ten years now
any recommendations?
@@PlagueDocVR Which brand?
@@George27484 it was a old charger that came with my phone from like 10 years ago, I don’t know it’s brand but my best guess is Samsung
The Amazon basics charger has 100w or 240w charging [Not really sure which one but it’s either of these because the cable in the product image has 240w printed on it while the description of the product says 100w], 40GB data transfer, can handle 8k, has USB-4, has a variety of length sizes and cable options. And another USB cable is the Spigen USB-4 Thunderbolt 4 which can handle single 8k, dual 4K, has the same specs as the Amazon basics cable but instead the cable is rubber which feels better than the braided or rough cables in my opinion :)
If you want to test cables they sell cable testers. Ones that graph the data signal integrity and power integrity of those cables and gives you an empirical way to rank them. Not some random "well it work with this device" testing.
"Create a problem, then sell the solution"
This should be their slogan
Definitely Buying 1 of em
John Abraham ki 1rs wali Xerox.😅😅
If that's what you consider a "thick cable" then I'm jealous
i confirm. thicker usb cables are common and tend to perform better.
its almost as if the thinner ones miss conductors to full spec
@@vincentschumann937 longer cables likely charge slower due to more electrical resistance.
@@ollllj lol no, not how it works. the difference in resistance is going to be on the milliohms range. for a 20-gauge wire we are talking maybe 8-10 ohms per 1000 feet of wire. that is not going to affect charging speeds significantly or at all. it will affect data transfer because in order to not pick up a lot of random noise signals need to keep very specific frequencies and voltages through the transmission, especially when transferring at high rates. charging is not too susceptible to that because noise is not a particularly big issue.
And also tend to ruin the USB port in your phone. If the cable is thick, it's less flexible. If it's less flexible, it puts more stress on your USB port on the phone if you use it while plugged in. Get a good cable, but don't focus on it, the phone is a much more expensive piece of hardware than the cable.
Ive been running that fasgear cable for like feels like 3-4 years now. Its one of the most reliable and fast ive purchased
Much needed. Thanks bruh 🤙🏽
Thank You!
...or just get an Intel certified Thunderbolt 4 cable and never worry about it again.
No, get a cable with 540⁰ rotation magnetic cable, it comes with different ends that you can just keep in ur usb port
I love it
Excellent work. Thank you.
They are all well shielded
Dude. Thank you SO MUCH for this. I really need one that works with my SSD so I won't have to keep going behind my computer to plug and unplug it. Plus I need a good 100W one to charge my laptop on the go.
Helped a lot❤️
I love those FastGear cables - I find the 90° connector to be perfect for the PSU-side connection
I like the Anker one.
So basically it's a thunderbolt cable.
They are to the thunderbolt spec, so they should be thicker or else the amount of power moving through them would melt the shielding
I use the switch usb c. This little box works wonders and I’ve been using it since like 2018
Cable Matters make excellent TB4 and USB4 cables. I have both active and standard cables and can def vouch for them.
my cables only have that tendency to break at the end, even though I don't bend them, they even have a protective layer around
Anker: “Am I a joke to you?”
Oh my god Yes... He's gone with rebranded AliExpress cables so they'll last like 6 months at most... I have never had a more reliable cable than Anker and if anyone needs a cable like this get one of them
Overpriced Chinese OEM cable rebranded to appeal towards westerners like you. High price dosent mean quality.
@@Andrew-zy7jz Try ugreen.
@@Star_.is anker good to connect ipad pro to tv monitor ?
But anker cables arent fast enough because they mostly made for apple products
As someone who makes custom cables. Good luck. The perfect cable will only ever be bespoke.
The thickness is an instant win imo
woah i didnt know you can charges canon r5 like that
You just need the right cable! 😉
Not only the right cable but also right adapter, a 20watt power adapter won't be able to utilize 100watts so you'll also need one that is capable of doing that.
wait! John Abraham⁉️
Thanks for talking about the three cables, not providing product names for the three cables so people can find them, and providing an unclickable link to find the one you’re keeping. Very much appreciated.
Thanks 👍👍
I’m using fastgear cable (3 meter ) since 2020 for tethering with R5 R6 and it’s working great so far .
i love my r5
Lots of good info quick, subbed for sure 🤙😄
I use a AlzaPower MultiCore 4 in 1 cable (most likely some other cable that Alza just put their brand onto).
- pretty cheap
- pretty durable
- USB C cable
- USB A adapter on one end
- Micro USB adapter on the other end
My go to is INIU, great cables.
Can you do the budget edition :D
People: Nooo you don’t need so many versions, it already works well
“Haha usb 4 2.0 69, version 420 pro max go brrr”
Useful. Thank you.
I’ve been happy with my Anker ones, prefer to buy from a brand with a good warranty.
Nothing beats the Canon R5 charger cable. NOTHING. Anker 747 charger with Canon R5 charger cable is the best set up. Nothing can top that!
now find one with all of this but also supports thunderbolt 4
the more expensive ones use a PCBA chip that has power supplies and VGA. plus the twisting of the cable is done correctly.
Using that exact cable right now!
Brand name?
I like the Fasgear cables ordered a 1.6ft cable for my laptop setup, Full Featured USB C Cable USB 3.1 Gen 2 10 Gbps.
I have that exact cable! Even tho I use it for the oculus quest 2
There are many USB -c's I have the oculus quest 2 as well but some USB cs charge faster than others.
@@dylanbackstrum8856 i know
"Could have come out of the same factory" Well no shit?!
Probably the reason why the other two cables are at a 90° angle is because they're probably intended for VR use because they're basically a displayport cable.
VRLink never really got off the ground. Maybe they're intended for use with the Quest, but I'm pretty sure that's not DisplayPort; I doubt it'd need hardware encoding for that. I suspect it's transferring encoded video frames over USB data.
so to the point. good vid
Finally a USBC cable to RULE THEM ALL 💪😎
WoW, a whole 3 cables!
Can you make one for charging bricks?
Damn. A $4,500 camera. Must be nice.
I bought a fasgear cable after watching this a while back. It's worth the money, very robust cable and connections.
Also any cable that is capable of thunderbolt 4!
Orico cables are very reliable. They also make faster DIY enclosures.
I just want a durable cable lol
Wow I had no idea how much I despise this connect. Thanks!
4PPoe+++ perfect cable 😂❤
needless to say, but bro, this is so helpfuuuuuuuuul!
I have a cool cable that can charge usb, usbc and iPhone I love it bc it's a fast charger
You know that a cables that transmit video signal judt send data over the cable, almost any usb cable nowadays does that, you would just have to have the right G class cable for 4k video/HD etc
Rules for me are simple too. It has to do exactly what it should do, at the very moment that such a thing should be done. In a way that is done with a goal in mind, which is getting done what needs done at the moment is has to be done. And should be that way, after all is said and done.
120W 6a type c to type c .25m length gold plated cable
The perfect one is the OMG cable
It's only super speed 20 gig but you can get thunderbolt which has 40 gig if you really need speed
I have same
Dhivis usb4 type c cable is also good, you can try that one.
USB4 Version 2
I have a lot of cables and devices, and with me everything works with everything, no matter what speed (usb-c) I also do not see why.... that is only metal with copper cable... Okey there might also be electromagnetic indefferances but that doesn't really make a difference if the shielding is at least minimal....
Check out the silkland cables they are top of the line
I remember seeing this video long ago and getting myself one of the linked cables. Now I need 3 more and they are sold out of this specific cable :(
Y’all already know the price gunna be high
Surprisingly enough, it's only $13.
Gotta find one that uses all the pins
remember when Type-C was going to be the be-all, end-all universal cable for everything going forward?
Now theres like 15+ different Type-C's that all do different things.

Could you test the cables made by Anker?
I’d love to see the results!
you can buy cables online that cost thousands and use some sort of copper and fiber optic stuff that transmits 8k
I love that he just hasn’t heard of the USB4/thunderbolt standard
