Thank you. These are my favorite colors. I purposely made it hard to know where the sky ends and the water begins. I didn't want a hard horizontal line going across the painting. It would give this piece a different feeling. When I was new to painting I used to think my paintings had to look a certain way, to look "right" but there are no rules, only the rules we make for ourselves. So while you paint I hope you feel that freedom to express yourself, it's more fun!

Beautiful results! I was wondering how to implement such a technique with a night sky, for example, looking at a full moon over a body of water. Here you match the colors really well, I just have no idea how the color combination would look at night with all the dark tones.
The moon light would reflect off the water and the clouds. The colors would be cool, like blues, purples and so on except where the moons light reflects. This color combination wouldn't work as well for a night sky setting. Hope that helps. You can learn more about color theory here: www.createfulart.com/

I agree; beautiful piece. And I totally understand promoting creativity. It would’ve been helpful to at least show starting technique where sky & land meet (blending), overall washing & explain what the other brushes you used were for.
Because of you and your inspiration. I'm went, just now and bought my 1st canvases and acrylic paints and brushes!!! I want to do fiery impressionistic sunsets and southwestern scenes...I'm beyond excited!😊
Well either you have a transparent white (used for mixing vs. painting over colors) or you have a cheap quality paint. I would recommend using Heavy Body Titanium found here: amzn.to/2m7QkIZ
