Or rather another crabs doom, cause the medicine bottle won't go underwater. It's too light and contains too much air. It will either float or the waves will wash it away from the crab wich makes the crab stay unprotected e.g. from attacking seagulls.

I like to think he doesn't even care about that, and is just driving around willy nilly. Maybe in a year or so, the car will reappear in DDOI with him saying something like "This self driving car finally came to a halt, after the motor was unable to drag any more random things from the street."

No. Me personally would announce "I have a plan" and I would find a big table and swipe all the shit away with one smooth sweep of an arm and slap down an old map and bring out my grandpas vintage compass. I would then point to where we are and then with a pencil draw the complicated route of where we need to go. I would go on the deck ship with a hand held telescope with one foot on the steering wheel and the other planted on the ground. I would grasp the telescope in one hand while the other provides shade to my eyes.

Actually the crab is happy. The inside of those bottles are smooth. So he is very fortunate. It does suck that litter is so common on the beach, but at least this little guy is recycling in a way.

Someone's gonna get chased by a hermit crab wielding a broken bottle.
I'm as old as the hills by TH-cam standards and my late father(God rest his soul), served in the navy throughout WWII and was Sunk 'Twice' in the Atlantic Ocean. Seeing that ship gave me a glimpse of what he went trough. It must have been Absolutely Horrifying. If you were to ask him 'how did you survive' ? he would simply say :
*_"you've got too or you'll die."_*
I kinda like that crab one. It shows how nature can repurpose even man-made waste. These are the kinds of tiny details I wish would be put in post-apocalyptic settings.
Don't mind the crab, he was having one of those migraines.
