- Personalized Baby Blanket Part One: Sublimating Your Own Personalized Fabric: Custom Baby Blanket
This video is PART ONE of this three part series on how to make a custom personalized baby blanket. In this tutorial I will be sublimating minky fabric with a baby's personalized name and monogram and a watercolor clipart graphic.
The finished dimensions of this blanket are :
30 in x 36 in
Depending on your seam allowance and how you like to topstitch/how comfortable you are with sewing minky... you may need to add a few inches to give yourself some grace !
In PART TWO I will be embroidering the Minky dot fabric with large name and in PART THREE I will be finishing the blanket by sewing it together.
To make these designs/ names I used PicMonkey and clipart I bought from Etsy to make different designs to place on blanket! You could use a template to make it all on one page (8.5 x 11, 11x17, or 13 x19) or piece it together like I did! Print on your Sublimation printer...place on fabric...and tape down. MAKE SURE whatever you do you , use special heat resistant tape so the designs don't shift!! I pressed at 400 degrees for 40 seconds but, do a test patch to make sure that works for your fabric!! All fabric and heat presses are different so find what is best for you!! Don't forget to lint roll too!! Press all designs and then you have your custom personalized fabric for your personalized baby blanket!

Thank you for your video! Your smile made me smile the whole way through!
This is why I don’t mind paying what is requested. Hard work! But you make it look easy 💪
What a great idea. Now my head is about to explode with all the ideas this has given me. LOL
YES!! so glad it inspired you!!!There are so many things you can do!!! Thanks Morgan!
That turned out so good.... I make my own fabric for all of my purses and handbags. It's so much fun making your own fabric for anything you make and atleast you know it will never be discontinued or run out..
@@UtahGmaw99 hi, yes I do. I do full color prints usually 13x19 or larger depending on the size of the purse I'm making..
Do you have any tips on printing an all over print? Or do you just use a seamless pattern ?? I would love to see your bags!
Where do you buy the minky fabric and do you purchase it in bulk?
You did a great job illustrating! Looking forward to doing a blanket in sublimation thanks!!
Thank you for sharing ❤❤ we need more people like you who can teach 🙏❤
That turned out awesome!! Very unique!!
Thanks Mary!
That is absolutely gorgeous!
Such a great idea. Now to watch part ! Thank you for sharing!
Can't wait to try it! Thanks for the practice demo :)
Love this!! You have me wanted to sublimate now!!
Haha it is so much fun!! You totally should! Loved you video today, so real! Best of luck on all your Easter baskets!
Beautiful
Awesome project!
Thank you so much!
Never knew I needed this... INSPIRED!!
yay!!
Good job on the sublimation. Love it.
Thanks Barb!
This is awesome!! So the parts that you already sublimated, did those bleed when you added the new ones to it? (If that makes sense) sorry- very new to all of this!
love the video....how did you keep from pressing down the nap of the minky material? I did one and it had heat press marks. The fabric was flattened and would not fluff back up.
Great Idea! How did you print on the large sheet of paper?
That looks amazing
Thank you so much!!
This is great! How would you make a blanket like the Caden Lane ones? Colored blankets with white lettering?
Loved
How do you add it to the other fabric? Do you have a pt. 2?
Good evening hope you are doing great, love your videos❤ do you have a in the hoop machine embroidery baby bib design?
So sosss cute!!
Thank you Cynthia!!!
I love your videos! You have taught me so much. I never thought about making my own fabric design, but now I want to try it.
aww thanks Janet!! It was a little intimidating at first but it was so fun, you should definitely try it!
@@TheMonogramMompreneur Can you or do you know if there is any company or person that makes custom band quilts/blankets? I'm looking to get the band Korn and Slipknot and Disturbed's album art on a heavier quilt or blanket. Thanks!
great video! what brand is the shirt that you are wearing?
What type fabric can u use new at this n I love this idea
Do you wash the fabric befor sublimation
What type of fabric are u using for this blanket?
Such an informative video. Can. i know if the printer that we have to use has to be different or the normal ones can do the job?
Some people have converted their Epson Printers to sublimation printers (the ink is key!)
Nice!
Thank you!
Hi, I just finished my first personalized blanket for my daughter in which I had roses and then her name sublimated on a poly blanket. My question is,
can i sublimate the design (roses) first in steps then go back and add the name? Essentially, I will be heat pressing over the already sublimated Roses to add the name, is this okay to do? I rather do it in steps then print the name and roses on multiple pages
I tested it out and it seems to be ok. I tried it with a design half off the press and sublimation paper overlapping a pressed design. There was a hardly noticeable line on one photo, but with a watercolor print it was not noticeable.
Does it wash without coming off
Hi love this, what sort of material is that please
This is a minky fleece 100% polyester fabric... I got it from Joanns
Love, sublimations what size it that blanket? I am in love with this project.
Omg this is amazing! Thank you so much for the tutorial ❤️
Thank you so much!!! I just love finding new things to do with my machines!
Is that just regular printed ink on paper? How did it transfer so nicely onto the blanket.
No
You can sublimate on plain normal white minky? I use minky daily and didnt know this.
Yes!!! The kind I use is 100% Polyester and you can get at Joanns and Hobby Lobby! You can sublimate on the white minky dot too but it shows where the dots are so it doesn't look as good!
Love this! Do you think a cricut easy press would work too? Instead of a heat press?
Yes ! I think I have seen people do them with an cricut easy press!
I really miss your sublimation videos!!
oh my goodness I know!!! What type of sublimation videos are you wanting to see?
Love your shirt. Is that sublimation?
Thanks Kayla!! Sure is!!! This is a heather gildan softstyle shirt and it has been washed so many times and still looks great! It is 65% poly 35% cotton!
Was it done on 100 percent polyester?
Yes I believe minky is 100% polyester!
Do you have website we can order the blankets
What is the paper you are putting over the sublimination paper?
Butcher Paper from Sam's Club
@@TheMonogramMompreneur Thank you very much. Merry Christmas..
Hi, I just found your channel. I love this blanket and would like to make one for my neighbors who are having their first baby! Can I have a link for the white fabric you used please? Thanks for this!
I got some from Joann and Hobby Lobby! It is called Minky Fleece and it is 100% polyester! Have fun making the blanket!!
www.joann.com/soft-minky-fleece-fabric--solids/16038440.html
@@TheMonogramMompreneur Thank you! :)
Will this work on Fleece?
Check the polyester content!!! This was a minky fleece material!
Are you using heat transfer vinyl? And did you just put it through your inject printer?
I have made basic t-shirts and stuff with heat transfer, but never printed anything.
I am using a sublimation printer! It is special ink that gets infused into the polyester blend fabric! It is different from inkjet transfers. Hope this helps
@@TheMonogramMompreneur Have you tried using Cricut infusible ink? Sublimation printers are so expensive :'(
love it! How did you make the designs? Is there a special program you need? awesome video!!!
Thank you Michelle!! I bought the clipart and used my fonts in PicMonkey to do all designing! They have premade templates you can buy on Etsy too if you want some help with designing! Just search baby blanket template and it should show you some great options!
Do you have a link for the white butcher paper you are using.?
Yes!! Its from Sam's Club!! It is a huge roll! www.samsclub.com/p/duro-bag-white-paper-roll-18/151200?_br_psugg_q=butcher+paper
Y’all are going to make me start sublimation
haha I know right!!! we are all going to end up with tons of new machines and supplies after watching each others videos!
Is any tape find or there's a specific one ?
You need heat resistant tape (: cricut has some for around $7 that I really like 💕
That was an awesome video. Next time try throwing your cut minky fabric in the dryer with a damp wash cloth and let it tumble for a bit maybe 10 - 5 minutes or so and let it throw off all of the cut fibers...
Thanks for the great tip!!
❤️❤️❤️
U look fun .. I want to be ur friend 😏🙂
