- Personalized Baby Blanket Part Two: How to Embroider Minky Fabric: How to Embroider a Minky Blanket
This video is PART TWO of this three part series on how to make a custom personalized baby blanket. In this tutorial I will be embroidering the minky dot fabric with a large name.
The finished dimensions of this blanket are:
30 in x 36 in
Depending on your seam allowance and how you like to topstitch/how comfortable you are with sewing minky... you may need to add a few inches to give yourself some grace when cutting the fabric!
In PART ONE I sublimated white minky fabric with a personalized name, monogram and clipart and in PART THREE I will be finishing the blanket by sewing it together.

I float with no spray and use a basting stitch and melt away on top and it turns out phenomenal.
Love the large size font! It embroidered out great!
Yay, thank you!
Cool sublimation result.
Thank you!
Also please tell me about the wall hanging behind you. I want to make those too!
Looks so professional! I can’t wait to try this out! Thanks for sharing!
A tip: you can watch movies on Flixzone. Me and my gf have been using it for watching all kinds of movies during the lockdown.
@Nikolai Anakin Yea, I've been watching on flixzone for since november myself :)
@Nikolai Anakin Yup, been watching on flixzone for since december myself =)
What size font did you use?
What type of binding did you do on the baby blanket? Love your videos!
I am not using any binding! I am just going to sew the blanket right sides together... leaving a gap for turning it... and then I will turn it so the right sides are on the outside..... and do a topstitch around the whole blanket to finish it and close the gap!
How do you get your machine to trace the whole edge of the name? Mine always moves around to “trace” where different points of each letter will be
What size needle do you use when embroidering with minky. I find it looks different when you sew on plain Cotten vs. Minky.
I used my 75/11 Universal needle (it's not super sharp but not ballpoint) for this blanket
What size of font is that?
I had two orders for baby blankets last week and no matter which of my single machines I used the name stitched out so rough looking. I am wondering if it was the font I used because I haven’t had that issue before on other blankets.
Yes, try a different font and make sure you are using water soluble stabilizer on top!! Hopefully that will fix the problem!!
@@TheMonogramMompreneur thanks I am going to try it!
What size is the lettering
I've been wanting to try my names centered but I'm so scared it's not going to be centered once I sew haha.
