Backpacking Death Valley's Sandy Peak in Summer

  • I hiked Sandy Peak with ‪@MatthewSaville‬ in the 86F temps of June and bivvied on the summit in order to photograph the Milky Way over Eureka Sand Dunes. The summit offers spectacular views of the area and can see all the way to Mt. Whitney, 100 miles away.
    Sorry for the poor audio quality. I'll get a proper microphone next time.

    Such a great hike! I love how obscure this general area is, and there is so much else to see... At night you can see south all the way to the Ubehebe area and the car headlights of folks leaving after sunset... ...and then essentially NOTHING else on any horizon, except the faint glow from Vegas... Really and truly, the "middle of nowhere"
