    Pretty much same process with solvents. Although we could hammer 3 coats all in 1 shot with spies hecker back in the day. Wait 20 min at 80 degrees then clear coat. It was super fast! I’ve never sprayed water before but you did a great job from what I saw 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

    The place have been working at for over a decade just got bought out by Joe Hudson this year. I have to spray this ultra 9k paint and I hate it! I was spraying chromax ez axlta waterborne paint and I love that paint so much u never had to fight with blends! Never had to wetbed! Color match was on point! Now I'm dealing with something I never had to deal with before and it's that sand look you talk about! Even on new parts! 1 thing I thought of was mybe the basecoat reducer is to fast as it says it's standard reducer but I was told there is only 1 basecoat reducer and nothing else slower. I live in a really hot state so I'm trying to figure out how to prevent this issue before it gets to summer time 😢 man I miss ez the best paint I have ever sprayed!

      Just wet on wet your coverage coats. After you control coat spray a coat of 9020 over the top. It’ll smooth it all out. It’s a really easy system when you get it down. Don’t get frustrated just approach it different. You can switch to just using blender over the whole blend after it’s done if that works better for you!

      Well you’re here now lol. Like I said instead of leaning towards frustration just slow down and figure out what works best for you! I have literally no issues with U9K. I came from ehp PPG and that shit was trash! 😂

    I been spraying ultra 9k for three months and I gotta say it’s nice.. but I’m still having trouble sometimes with metallics I use to spray cromax water had no problems but just need to get use to spraying this one more

      Slow down control coats. That’s the single adjustment I made that made the biggest difference!

    Man I’ve been struggling with silvers lately, I’ve done everything and I still get mottling on my blend panels

    • @olie_olie_paintz
      @olie_olie_paintz  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Overreduce a touch and spray them a little wetter. If you’re using water you really need to wet your color out to even metallics. Should be silky and mottle free before your control coat. Takes some adjusting but you’ll get it!

    If you were painting a hood on a vehicle and blending into the fenders. Sealing the hood with p30 and blending PAU ultra 9k how would you do your wet bed on the fenders what would be your method of attack. I’m new to the ultra 9k system

    • @olie_olie_paintz

      Wet bed before spraying color. Allow to dry then blend color out. I usually just spray blender once before color and if I’m unsure of the blend I’ll spray it over the whole panel to check my blends before clear. Most of the time though I don’t need to and go right to clearing after my control coat.

    Any tips on color match side tone on the flop especially om silver? I usually use flop additives and the side flop will be slightly lighter. That's make it really difficult to blend on silver.

    Our shop just converted to 9k and so far it's nice stuff. What are some base guns you recommend for this paintline? They gave us some dv1s but others you like?

    • @olie_olie_paintz
      @olie_olie_paintz  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      My favorites are Sagola 4600 with an aqua cap, 3300 GTO and a walcom hte base. This stuff loves to be smashed on so a good gun that will lay it down quick is a huge benefit. Dv1 is good for control but it’s not better than a prolite if I’m being honest.

    Hey man, thanks again for all your content. I know you are super busy but if you get a chance, can you fulfill another request. Could you make a video on how you shoot your pearls. For whatever reason shooting my pearl , is coming out really dry. I'm reducing it 10% as my formula requires us to.. but doesn't apply wet. Which results in my clear coming out SUPER dirty man. I'm using my DV1 AT 21 PSI. AND 20 PSI ON MY CONTROL, But my lay down coat comes out to gritty and not wet like any other material. Please help , when you get a chance brother.

      Turn that thing down if it’s the digital version! I use 12-13 psi on the digital for base. Sounds like it’s probably too much air pressure. I know it sounds low but it’ll make a huge difference wetting it out!

    • @danielcaceres5187

      Every color my Dude! The digital gauge on them reads incorrectly. If you put a gauge on the bottom it’ll read like 18-20 psi when the top reads 13-14. Sprays a lot better turned down!

    Will tacking right before clear not cause streaks in the metallics? I spray solvent, idk if it’s different, but I’ll tack between every coat except my last and I’ll blend into the wet bed wet and it seems to help with sand piling…

    • @olie_olie_paintz
      @olie_olie_paintz  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It will will water unfortunately. If it’s been drying for a long while it won’t but most guys don’t wait that long to clear.

    Hi,
    How does lowering the psi on a control coat help it lay out?
    Could one just spray the all the color at say 22 psi and not have to worry?
    Thanks,

    • @olie_olie_paintz
      @olie_olie_paintz  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It just helps to lay it down a bit more even. Not 100% necessary as long as you’re comfortable with your gun and material!

    Looks like this product is very similar application as the ppg envirobase line right? Also the wet bed doesn cause the pool effect darkening silvers? Whats a psi for a sata 5k for coverage around 20psi and 18psi control coat? Thanks for any advice brother just got into a shop that sprays sherwin i never had sprayed this before a but nervous but ive sprayed envirobase and spies hitec and this looks like very close to how envirobase is sprayed

    • @olie_olie_paintz
      @olie_olie_paintz  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s more similar to spies. Covers quick like it. If you’ve sprayed those you’ll be just fine man! Super easy! And no it doesn’t pool effect on silvers! 23 coverage 19 control on sata and you’ll be good!
