- Just got a new camera to record videos on my Ride1up ebike. I am going to use it as a "dash cam" for my bike. Drivers are awful in New Mexico and I would like to document if I get hit on my bike. The state and city governments don't do anything to help the situations. Alamogordo NM currently has a total of zero bike lanes. Speed limits here are crazy fast in New Mexico (Alamogordo is oddly slower than most of New Mexico) New Mexico State controls White Sands Blvd where this accident happens. All the streets are way to wide and most people drive like they are in the race. Deaths on the roads in New Mexico are just an everyday occurrence, even though the population is not very big.

After 30 years of driving in North Texas/DFW, I am having a very difficult time getting adjusted to NM driving. I am so used to dodging guns being pulled on strangers, yee-yee boys trying to kill anyone not going more than 10 over on the interstate, soccer moms whose attention doesn't go any further than their own front and back bumpers, and all those cell phones being used at 55MPH on residential streets. I'll take Alamogordo driving over that any day.
Edit: When you're out and about, watch for that 1 driver who stands out as the worst driver around. 9 out of 10 times, they'll have Texas plates. Many of those 10th cars will have fake temp paper tags... bought in Texas.
That the running joke in NM about bad drivers here. They always have Texas plates.
I lived in Alamogordo many times since 1962; graduated from AHS. It will always be someplace I like. If you have a problem living there, then you shouldn't live there. It is a smaller, quaint city.
I lived there in the early 90s. I used to drink beer at the playground of the School House for the Blind at night. Quietly.

I live pretty close to you and I take the same route to Whitesands Blvd about every day. Love it when you sang Breakin the Law when you came up on the police cars. Lol!!

It is a word invented by a traffic engineer? It's a road design that has been known to be unsafe since the 1960's. Just gives the illusion of safety.

Lived there in the 60's. Not a bad place at all.
People die from bad road designs. Has nothing against the City of Alamogordo, but against the traffic engineers who designed our backwards roads. The city has an atrocious amount of road fatalities every year. So yeah when people die for no reason I am negative.
Thank you for the video. It is so much different to where I am. It seems exitic and stange to me whitch has a facination of its own.
By the way, we have bicycle pathes here. Not just that we have bicycle streets, you would like it,
Alamogordo is ok I guess, but I came here from New Jersey and it's a whole lot better there I think. I came here cause my daughter told me that it was nice cause that's where she was, let's just say that she wasn't exactly being completely honest about it 😢.
Crime in that town and Las cruces have skyrocketed to point they hide it now. Most calls for service are done by internet reports or phone as they won't respond to past crimes unless it's higher crime. Speeding is issue as well as tigress or non insurance drivers.
Id like to see the blind school inside and outside please.

Why would you assume I don't have a license? I drive for a living. I bike because it is efficient and way less stressful than driving. Plus the money that I save is crazy compared to driving. Gas, vehicle cost, and maintenance is crazy stupid.

@@gluemuncher1986 on our highway designed streets yea. I get stressed driving on the alamo-autobon known as White Sands. I mostly stick to the side streets.

Alamogordo pretty good little town. Weather is amazing and the people are fairly nice.
Maybe take the car next time. And ride the children's toys (bike) at the park.
Bikes use this thing called muscles and helps to lower estrogen (which you clearly have a lot of). Plus fresh air! Which will help lower your anger issue, since your mad at people saving money, getting healthy, and the ability not slaughter people under their tires.
Shoot go down 12 and 14 its rubble you know none of the money given for Infrastructure will be use In Alamogordo. Welcome to the wild west lol .

THE TEACHERS THERE WERE SOMETHING ELSE. THE PRINCIPAL THAT I REPLACE HAD BEEN THERE 18 YEARS AND PARENTS HAD NO SAY SO ABOUT ANYTHING! IT WAS LIKE A WAR ZONE BETWEEN THE SCH. AND PARENTS OF THAT SCH. ZONE. I GAVE THE PARENTS A PTA! I DID NOT LAST BUT ONE YEAR. ( IT WAS WORTH IT TO ME). IT IS THE SHITS!!! Rg. 79549
