I think one of the best films literally everyone is forgetting or they don't even know about is Tuntematon sotilas (Unknown soldier). It is a finnish film made in 2017 about the winter war (ww2).
Unkown Soldier suffers from the same problem as Beyond the Frontline, The Front Line and many movies like those. They deal with mostly unknown wars and the quality isn't that good for most people, be it cheesy dialogues, bad CGI or whatever. People don't forget about it, they just tend to stick to the more commonly known movies.
one movie that always stuck out to movie the past couple of years was Peter Jackson's "They Shall Not Grow Old," he used amateur footage taken from the front lines of British and Commonwealth and remastered them. it was a movie in honor of his grandfather who fought with the ANZACs shows what life was like as a soldier but not portrayed theatrically, but narrated from interviews taken by WWI survivors

@@probablylarsulrich5654 I loved that film, my favorite two scenes: 1. A scene of estonians on the german side, where they have to salute to an official by saying the "H.H." salute and answering with, in estonian, "won't say it" (ei ütle), which if said quickly sounds _like_ the salute to someone who doesn't know estonian. 2. A scene, now on the russian side of estonians, some estonian soldiers are transferred to the followed russian battalion in the film and when the person in charge says to be at ease, the 3 transferred soldiers go at ease... into the german position... and slowly reposition themselves to the russian stance. No one dies in that scene, just info that they were prior to transferring on the german side.
I would add 13 Hours to honorable mentions and The Painted Bird to the top-ten. Solid list though, y'all are definitely the most consistent with quality rankings when it comes to war films.
Christopher Nolan's "Dunkirk" could have been great. But he was too tight-assed to use CGI. So he could have filled that beach with 338,000 soldiers. He could have showed the 840 private boats that came to rescue the men. So in his version, maybe a dozen civilian boats rescued what looked like, maybe a thousand Brits and French. I guess he just couldn't afford a "cast of thousands" to produce an Epic.
Agreed, I expected so much after Interstellar. I thought this film would scale like the flyover in "The Longest Day" but it felt like a budget film with several theatrical bits.

I would not have described the father in Hacksaw Ridge as "domineering." He was clearly suffering from Shell Shock long after WWI. He was lashing out more than trying to dominate his son.
Dunkirk was a disappointment in one large way. That beach had over 300,000 men on it at it's height. They could have done something with CGI or what ever, but it was obvious that there was barely a thousand or so men in the film! This takes away from just how massive an undertaking it truly was. Therefore it takes a big hit in the realism of the movie.
Yes thank you i been saying this for a long long time some CGI soldiers would made it better ,on the beach we got we see only 1500cr men and no trucks jeeps half-track's AAA or tanks it didn't look epic and grand like it was in reality , but overall it was a good ww2 movie
I disagree. I liked that all of the soldiers are real actors, and it also adds to the movie that the movie is so intense even when there is clearly not 400,000 soldiers on the beach, and that detail was what got me interested in WW2 in the first place. Hundreds of thousands of soldiers trapped on a beach trying to escape to their homeland, that is mind-boggling to me for some reason. It made me want to learn the full and 100% real story, and I think CGI soldiers would've made the movie seem more unrealistic and exaggerated, even if that is technically making the film more accurate. I understand why some may not like the movie, but it's a masterpiece to me. I also like that the movie wasn't trying to focus on how bloody it was and more on how stressful it was.
The most annoying thing in Movie Fury is that Bradd pitt remains invisible by the Germans till last even he kept himself half out of the tank leading tanks.

Of the 10 that's on the list. Only three I've seen when they were in theaters which are Dunkirk, 1917 and Hacksaw Ridge. I thought the first two were absolutely theater experiences as the latter I saw was on my birthday. With Hacksaw Ridge though it actually and I'm not joking literally gave my dad diarrhea he later thought it was more bloodier than in Saving Private Ryan.

Terrible things happen in War its kill or get killed. Enemy is not gonna spare you but kill or take prisoner amidst chaos of battles during Wartime.
