I have started painting my properties recently and I must say I am very happy with 18 inch roller. Edging still takes most of the time and I am looking forward to try out edge roller with my next job.
@@XCPainter we have a few very large walls that are very similar to the ones you did. I did one wall with a 9” last weekend and it was tedious. I’ll tell Lowe’s you sent me haha
@@craigturner4641 thanks again man. Head to your local paint store to pick up stuff... they support us, give us products, knowledge, and services that the big stores can't touch. We need local paint stores to stay in business
Daaaaaaaaamm... Nice work bud! I honestly prefer using my 9" even though I have multiple 18" setups as well, it honestly isn't much faster on half the walls with doors and windows. I also love using my jet roller setup for productivity, but you just made me want to bust out my 18" setup again lol. Great job!
I was always told to paint in a “W” when painting an entire wall for faster & even coverage. Is there anything to that technique & was I told incorrectly? Your thoughts please? Thx I’ve never used 18” roller!🤷🏻♀️ This looks easier & awesome!👍🏼 Thx for sharing. 😊
I’m very impressed with your work your attention to detail is fantastic I’m curious however why you wouldn’t use the Crawford spackle on its own instead of putting the Elmers down first and then going over with Crawfords? Do you feel like with the Benjamin Moore advanced are you able to hit it with a light coat and then come right back over it or do you have to do two separate coats and let them dry overnight? Thanks for any feedback again job well done
With mdf millwork, the density of Elmer's leaves better results when the hole is prepped correctly. Have to apply Elmer's in a certain manner to make it sand easier without dishing out the mdf or wood. Machine sanding with 180 or 220 recommended.
Hi, I would say repetition with movements is the main way we avoid hitting the ceiling.... but also holding the roller pole, to where it won't go much higher without stretching, is a good way to create that stopping point.
James Quant Frame is Purdy, cover is a Wooster "pro doo z", woven, not micro fiber. We just put painters plastic in the paint bucket (scuttle) and tape around the edge.
18 " roll is good for Large areas , if no windows or tight wall spaces go for it. But tight areas,it is not much time saving, since preparation, clean ups, then go for 9 " roll for tight areas?. Not worth it.
18 inch rollers are SLOWER than 9 inch because ALL THAT CUTTING I could have painted that room in less time with a 9 inch. becaus my cut would have been 2 inches. I would cut after rolling much faster.
You just roll right over those outlets don’t you. This is correct with flats, satins, and mattes, but eggs and semis are a bit more complicated to spread evenly and keep roller marks out. You use a zig zag on the down stroke.
XC Painter Optical illusion I guess. Make vid of applying eggshells and semis. The application pattern is different as roller marks will show if you just stay vertical. The zig zag pattern down helps the paint spread more evenly and reduce roller marks. I learn that the hard way.
XC Painter Okay, not sure what world you live in but if your stay 100% up and down then go to overlap you will get roller marks with an eggshell or semi gloss.
I just started painting 3 months go and Im really enjoying the job.
Somebody that knows what they're doing.
Even turning the roller whilst carrying from bucket to wall is a sure sign of a pro .
From a fellow painter, you are the gold standard XC!
Thanks I try hard, but there are so many talented people/painters out there. Many make me look like a rookie.
Its nice to see some back rolling.
mannn that 18inch is beast 🔥🔥
This video is totally awesome!
Started my painting company here in Maryland and man I make over 2-3k in profit off every job. There’s money in painting and the jobs never get old
Thats great. It's good getting out to different places and doing different types of work, doing successful jobs and making clients happy.

Thanks very much. It seems big, heavy, but once you get used to it,, working it, it rocks

Thanks man! We had to paint this whole place 1 color , and I really like using an 18" when it's a thick nap and carries the paint. 3/4" 👍
Good
Ty, I was going to buy a sprayer until I saw this Video.
Well done, keep them coming 😊👏👏

Only if painting kitchens was that EZ!!
How long would you normally wait to give it another coat?
Under very good conditions, 1 to 1.5 hours, possibly up to 4 hours if were drying slower...
do i press on the roller or just let it roll itself?
Just light pressure but you can put a moderate amount at times as long as you're making long strokes top to bottom.
@@XCPainter thanks man
I use the if I want to get the job done fast or in larger areas. 12 to 15 on normal work but never a 9 inch roller or flimsy tray again
I want 18" roller
They are the best. Once used there no going back to 9 inch
Is there something on your roller to stop you from hitting the ceiling? Maybe I need more practice but I have to slow down a lot to avoid that.
Hi, I would say repetition with movements is the main way we avoid hitting the ceiling.... but also holding the roller pole, to where it won't go much higher without stretching, is a good way to create that stopping point.
Stand back to a certain point where when arms are fully extended the roller stays away from ceiling 👍
what frame are u using, do you use liners in that big paint bucket. is that a micro fiber cover. nice work

12-18 inch rollers and scuttles for me now never a 7-9 inch or tray again as they are so flimsy. Love the way 18 inch does it so fast though
don't forget it's a back killer to
I preferre 15 to wall and 18 celling
Cool, thanks for watching!

Did you watch the whole video? I use vertical downstrokes on the layoff. I even have text on the screen explaining that.
Robert, I did not touch the outlets with the roller whatsoever. Please double check what you are making false accusations about.
