Mythical Pokemon have gotten lazier and lazier over the generations. Although most Pokemon movies actually stink, watching Zarude's movie made me want to video game myself.
Generation eight of Pokemon had a lot of designs that makes me question the millions of copies sold, but this lazy tack on to the end of the Pokedex frustrates me to no end. - เกม

1:33 I like the theory that Calyrex used to have a galarian rapidash as a mount, and it died in the crowned tundra, having the soul become one pokemon, and the frozen body became the other. This would also neatly explain why he only remembers having one horse

Edit: having finished the video, I agree with your point about wanting mythical pokemon to do more than just exist. Melmetal is really cool imo, and I wish I had one. However, it just kind of... is

I didn't see the movie nor will I ever so I don't know much but what I do know is that monke dude makes a good dad
I feel like at the very least, Meltan has a neat concept (Grey Goo; the idea that a nanite will "repair" itself by converting nearby matter into itself), Marshadow fits the "Celestial" theme of the Sun and Moon with a Mars pokemon, and Zeraora is a unique Mythical, being an Electric-type. Neither Dark NOR Grass are unique typings for a Mythical (Celebi and Darkrai fit the Grass and Dark typings), so it doesn't even have that...and its' signature Move is...neat? But underwhelming.
Like Zarude doesn't even have a unique typing going for it, let alone a cool concept.

In my opinion it's Jirachi just a nothing burger of a pokemon and i feel like its way too similar to celeby and mew to stand put and his wish gimmick kinda sucks

Zarude is a worse Zeraora.
And Zeraora should been just a Lucario or Zoroark. A "movie Pokémon" with 2 stages and some cool exclusive move.
But, for some REASON these two count as part of the "Mythical Family"

I think it has a neat lore and origin.
The problem is they didn't do much with the Pokemon after the movie and the Pokemon itself was hard to get

I have both Zarudes. Its a really cool Pokémon though I haven't seen the movie yet.
Since I subscribe to the theory that there absolutely is splicing in the Pokemon world you might be onto something when comparing Zarude to Rillaboom. I still like it though. Monke supremacy. Also, he's quite fun in GOs battle league if you managed to snatch him some years ago and spent the time to power him up 🤟
The zarudes are just chilling and stay on a tree and they don’t give a care if the jungle is in danger.

Mythical Pokémon used to be represent something or reference real world myths. Mew is said to be the ancestor of all Pokémon, it’s body’s resemblance to a fetus representing this idea of evolution and how it is both a natural process that can happen overtime or at an instant with new being able to transform into any Pokémon. Celebi represent time and nature, how nature can reclaim its surroundings overtime. Jirachi represents stars and wishes and how stars invoke cosmic power and wisdom embodied by jirachis third eye. Now they’re just like yeah what ever it’s a fury, a ghost kid, and a monkey with vines. Idk maybe I’m missing some context behind these designs but they don’t feel like mythical Pokémon.
What zarude is sick
I flat out hate monkey pokemon due to how forgettable most are.. except rillaboom who is just 'ok.' Theres many issues with this one for me however... not just because 'money'.. because the clips i saw from youtube reminds me of the story of a chimp that was super friendly at one point just to nearly kill its caretaker years later due to how batshit insane it became. Chimps, monkeys and the variety of the ape family are HIGHLY aggressive to the point its best to stay a distance.. and this things information even says 'highly aggressive.' Even if he was a NORMAL POKEMON i'd 100% stay away just out of fear of it...
