Donkey Kong is popular maybe not as much as Mario. But tons of people love this game including me and it's a disgrace that he doesn't do it more often.

Ryu I don't know if you heard about this yet, but there's even more than "just" getting the gold medals. If you play almost perfect, you can also get shiny gold medals but they are a huge pain in the butt to get. They don't really do anything other than bragging rights tho

Some would say Dixie is the best companion for the height boost, but when you truly explore the insane movements you can perform with the cranks himself you will feel like a god.

Those levels are just pure platforming. It took me an hour to beat bopopolis, but it was super fun.

There is shiny gold medals if you complete the level much faster than the gold time as well as a heart that will appear next to it if you complete the time attack without taking damage.

For some reason I have fond memories of Donkey Kong games even if they are a bit silly they can still be legit and sometimes even heavy grind free if you can adapt quick enough. There is also less dependence on RNG than a lot of other games which is always welcome in my book.
So happy you decided to do this full game, I just recently went back and replayed the original 3 on SNES so much fun to 100% those games DKC2 will always be my fav

I think Cranky was actually used to get most of the fastest speedrun times. His pogo stick hopping can be used to keep full speed while jumping high. Well, at least it was Cranky in the Wii U version. I think Funky pretty much holds all records now since he's everyone combined.

I can't wait for Ryu to play the K-stages. Those are intense. Some of the best levels I've ever played, so deliciously hard.
The ones in DKCR1 were harder.

Loving this. Ive never played the game, but have listened to the OST about 100 times. So nice to finally tie the music to the levels.
I remember playing this as kid it was so fun I could never get past the second island

I watch ryukahr more than a 1/3 of my day, from hardest games to Mario maker 1+2 ( stuff I've seen daily because 1- I've no memory and 2- your very entertaining) but slowly but surely it's going downhill..
we don't watch you for your banana shaker or special guests or twitch counts or shameless plugs..

Glad to see you return to this game, you are getting pretty good at utilizing your side-kick Kongs and those gold medal speed runs seemed already too easy for you! As a small hint, when you spot a level in the overworld that is unavailable since it doesn't have a path, it usually means that the level next to it has a secret exit that you can take to access the bonus level. You'll need the collectibles in these bonus levels to access even more hidden levels in the overworld. So, in this video you missed the hidden exit on level 1-3 even though you collected everything else, good job on the game so far! :)

Would love a 100% of this game! I never clicked on a video so fast. 😄 A good break from other game’s like Mario Maker.
Even if you just wanted to play the game through then do the secrets and time attacks later to save time. But whatever you wanted to do I would definitely watch.
This is one of my favorite games with the challenging platforming and great music by David Wise.
There is still a challenge after the golden medal. You can try to get the shiny golden metal. You get it if you complete the level certain seconds below the gold timer. For 1-1 its 1:40 for example.
