  • Thank you to kind folks over at SmokedaddyInc. specifically Dan for sending me out the Big Kahuna Smoke Generator for this review. This is a 100% unbiased review an I was not paid by any means by SmokeDaddy for this review.

    ======================================================
    The Big Kahuna Cold Smoke Generator is made from heavy gauge 3″ SCH 40 6061 precision machined aluminum for a proper seal and long life.
    You can use small wood chips or wood chunks of your choosing. No expensive cartridges to buy - just use your favorite wood chips/chunks.
    Best choice for the serious meat smoking enthusiast, vertical smokers, or larger grills. The Big Kahuna offers 1-2 hours of smoke time on a single fill, and this unit will take care of even your biggest cookout events! This is the unit if you want to use large wood chips or wood chunks. It comes with a high output adjustable air pump to provide an adequate air supply for
    the larger wood chips/chunks.
    Product is made from heavy gauge SCH 40 6061 precision machined aluminum for a proper seal and long life. Also included is a stainless steel cleaning brush.
    You can use wood chips or wood chunks in the Smoke Daddy. Wood Pellets are not recommended to be used due to an inefficient burn. No expensive cartridges to buy - just use your favorite wood chips/chunks! Any Smoke Daddy can be refilled at any time during the smoking process without having to relight it or open your smoker. They are designed with the smoke outlet tube above the fuel source to prevent clogging and have a removable end cap for easy lighting. It also has plenty of room for hot ash and is designed so not to interfere with air flow.
    It provides plenty of smoke for the larger smokers. You can easily attach it to your smoker by drilling a 1 1/8″ hole and inserting the outlet tube into your smoker. To light it, remove the end cap and fill the smoke chamber with your favorite wood chips/chunks. Then light it from the bottom with a small propane torch or you can also use a match and a crushed piece of charcoal. Place the end cap back on with air pump running and you’re smokin’!
    We offer a high output, adjustable air flow electric pump. This is great for having a high volume of air at start-up, allowing some woods to be lit more easily. You can then lower the airflow gradually to the desired amount.
    Perfect for applications that are a standard grill size and larger.
    The BIG KAHUNA holds 3 cups of fuel and will smoke for up to one to two hours on a single load..
    Assembled Dimensions: 12″ x 3-1/2″ - Holds 3 cups of fuel
    With Back Draft design!
    The Big Kahuna is for the larger BBQ and smoker up to the size
    of a refrigerator and works with large wood chips, wood chunks
    or pellets.
    Great for smoking at temperatures under 100 degrees. Great for
    hot smoking as well.
    Wood Chips/Chunks are the recommended fuel type. (Not Wood
    Pellets)
    Comes with or without air pump.
    This is the cold smoker we recommend for use with our pellet
    grills!

    Again thanks to Smoke Daddy for sending me this Big Kahuna Smoke Generator for review. Did its job very nicely, I do recommend a smoke generator for cold smoking and for adding exrtra smoke to a pellet smoker. With proper care and maintenance this could be a invaluable piece of BBQ equipment.

      Duct tape will more than likely burn, it gets quite hot down there also. What I do is make little plugs from aluminum foil and plug the hole.

    If not for your video, I would have never been able to assemble mine so a big thank you. I think the instructions were written for someone who received an assembled unit where mine wasn't. I had a big bag which contained all the hardware required and then the main body, the two end caps and the motor. Nothing was installed already like yours.

      Glad to hear it helped. I hope you enjoy it they are pretty awesome in my opinion especially if you dont have a big stick burner smoker. Thanks for the positive words I appreciate it

    Thank you very much for the honest review of the Big Kahuna Cold Smoke Generator Corby! Being a small family company, we rely greatly on customer reviews and "word of mouth" for our advertising.
    As for the creosote buildup mentioned in the video, since this is a contained wood fire there will be creosote buildup on the inside of the cylinder. This will not travel into the actual smoker or grill which many other cold smokers will do.
    Again, I appreciate your review very much Corby!

      Dan Seppala thanks for the opportunity. Yes the creosote is contained in the cylinder never touched the inside of smoker. Thought I touched on that, guess I’ll have to go back and watch it again to see.

    Corby, Nice review. I have a pellet smoker and have that issue of not enough smoke. I was thinking about making my own with expanded steel.👍🏼

      Making one can get frustrating but well worth it especially with a pellet smoker. I watched your brisket video last night when you were singing to it LOLOLOLOL

      I would definitely recommend one to a pellet grill if you want a little extra smoke and you can control the amount of the smoker also.

    Nice video Corby Q. I wonder if a little duct tape over some or all of the draft holes might slow down the burn some. I just got my Big Kahuna from my son and will smoke some bacon today. Thanks-

    I think the white smoke and creosote may be a problem with your method and chip prep, not a problem with the smoker.

      I made one when I first made my fridge worked really well. It was fun making one myself but I have to admit having one machined and fitted and made in a shop for all that thermal dynamics and leaks was a God send.

    I have used mine now for a long while. They work, but are a pain in the ass. You have to constantly maintain it. Air =, to much smoke ( white smoke) or not enough smoke, chips go out. You have to poke the chips to the bottom of the burn pot. And refil with fresh chips every 10-15 min. Turn air up and down to try and maintain a good burn ( blue smoke). I will continue to use it, but think they are overpriced for what you get ( what they do). Much more attention is required to keep this going then a regular stick ( chunk) smoker, and a whooooooole lot more then a pellet smoker. But the flavor is better then a pellet smoker by itself, and is the reason I will continue to use it. Is it worth the price, not in my opinion, but what is these days.

    • @CorbyQ
      @CorbyQ  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      critter getter I have some of the whole plugged with aluminum foil, I have it pretty dialed in and don't get much white smoke other than initial light. I can get about 3 hrs of smoke in a full load of charcoal mixed with pellets. I love mine and I'm glad they let me test it. I would pay for it for my electric smoker. I have a real crappy sick burner which does produce better flavor and the big kahuna is suppose to be to supplement smoke. I appreciate your comment and thank you so much for watching the review.

    you "mispeeled" the website. Also, why did you mount the smoker so high? and not as low as you can go to still operate it?

    • @CorbyQ
      @CorbyQ  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is low on the inside of the fridge. The inside sits higher off the ground it’s only a couple inches from the bottom of the inside of the fridge
