Just found out that yeast is an alive thing and that turns into bread or beer. Craziest shit I've found out about life in years

You get them from glycerol stock stored at -80

Include the liquid mediums ingredients and time temperature and common mold fungi or bacteria that may look similar to yeast. I can smell the yeast when it’s getting populated.

In principle I understand why you would use a shaking incubator to grow yeast, but if you are growing yeast for brewing, shouldn't you want your growth medium to be as close as possible to the environment they will be growing in? For example, using whatever you'll be fermenting as your liquid medium (not agar) and not using a shaking incubator?

From what I understand, the rising heat of the flame keeps pushing away any unwanted nasties/contaminants.

It creates an sterile environment as the heat kills contaminants in the air, creating a “field” of sterility. This prevents other bacteria from growing onto the plate when he streaks it! :>

Why not just use a reusable inoculation loop? How much garbage do you really need to make?
