Cheers for including Sublime. They were a band that introduced a lot of people to reggae. My band still plays Rivers of Babylon almost every performance. MUCH LOVE!!!
The first time i've heard about the Melodians, whas during a gig of ub40. The guitar player of ub40 Robin Campbell, did the song: Sweet sensation and i love it still. BLESS THE MELODIANS!

Great job as always, RAS; I loved it. Brent Dowe was an awesome singer, and the Melodians really could harmonise. I felt it when Brent passed. May they all rest in peace. --Æ.
This group dominated the airways and dancehall back in the 60's I think they were vocally blessed, until this day hits like "You don't need me" never die, I thank Brent Dowe and the Melodians for a great legacy, may they R.I.P.......peace
Great summation.Nice that you went up to the last album Trevor made with the two new guys. You didn't mention the two great albums Irie Feeling and Lyrics to Riddim.
Rivers Of Babylon is loosely based on the melody from an Irving Berlin song from the Ziegfeld Follies called "How Dry I Am", which itself borrows melody from older sources and was adapted into other songs numerous times since it was written in the early 1900s

@@ReggaeAppreciationSociety It’s funny you say that because I don’t write actually but I’ve been told I should.
