RIP Jim Perry 1933-2015 Yes, fellow game show fans, we lost yet another game show legend, after a 5-year battle with that dreaded cancer, at the age of 82, I found that out this Monday morning while watching a classic episode of Card Sharks on GSN, we will miss you!!!
Interestingly Bob lost the next match and the woman who beat him busted on the Money Cards as well. She bet all but $50 on a King and an Ace showed up then lost the remaining $100 when she bet it all on a 3 and a 2 showed up. How ironic.
Jim Perry is my favorite host of Card Sharks, and I love the opening music from that version the best, but the gameplay from Eubanks and Raffety version was better. I'd like the double rule being a push towards the end of Perry's version, and also getting $500 for guessing a human nature poll question correctly too. CBS should revive this show with the opening from Perry's version, ,Gary Kroger as the announcer, and I think John O Hurley or Marc Summers would be a solid host for it or even Mark L. Walberg who is a great host, but doesn't get versions of shows lasting long.

Jacks scare me a bit too, I was three years old when this show was on, my grandpa made me a Card Sharks board when I was a kid, and I'd act like Jim Perry, He's my second favorite game show host behind Bill Cullen, Jim Perry always struck me as a gentleman, I have no idea if he was that way in real life, I heard he was, I'm sad I'll never get to meet him, his daughter wrote comments back to me a couple of times.
I don't know why Bob Eubanks and Bill Rafferty likes Jacks in the Big Bet, but I remember on the Jim Perry Version a contestant named Alan (a magician) changed a card on the 1st Jack and got a Deuce and in the Big Bet changed the 3rd Jack and got a Queen while on the Bill Rafferty Version a contestant named Lincoln changed the Jack on the Big Bet and pulled an Ace. Bill was shocked, Lincoln was excited, Lacey said "That's Great" after Bill said "Unbelievable" and Bill said "I'll keep my mouth shut do whatever you want" and when he played against his next opponent, he almost ran the board and frozen on a Jack Bill was like "Unbelievable"
Yep. BTW, for those that don't get why I called the second BUST a killer--the Ace of Spades is considered to be the "death card" in popular myth and folklore.

I know one thing: Jim Perry was happy when the Ace came up @ the right time during Cowboy Bob's 3rd Trip to the Money Cards and the third time was INDEED a Charm also, I'll bet Mr. Perry was happy that they FINALLY got the PUSH Rule and the $500 Bonus for hitting a question on the nose, plus $500 for running the board w/o freezing

also, Perry's run had the Run the Board Rules for $500 in 1981 which was something missing from the CBS/syndicated years

Jim Perry always said Jacks scared him - and rightfully so. It might as well be an 8 at almost any point.
Jacks are not a bad card but they can be dangerous when there hasn't been any Queens, Kings, or Aces exposed.
