Keeping The Miami Hurricanes Healthy On & Off The Field, UM Sports Hall Of Fame Trainer Vinny Scavo!

If the Miami Hurricanes are going to find a bounce back year in 2023, they need to stay healthy. 2022 was a tough year from an injury standpoint with several starters missing time, including quarterback Tyler Van Dyke. Host Alex Donno welcomes in University of Miami sports hall of famer, associate AD and head football trainer Vinny Scavo. Vinny has worked with Miami for over 20 years, in two separate stints beginning in 1983. He is a former roommate of Vinny Testaverde.
Vinny and Donno discuss the challenges of the training department and how important it is to work in concert with the equipment department, the football coaches, and the strength coach. Scavo describes how well Mario Cristobal is doing recruiting big, strong athletes who are ready to make an impact early on in their careers. Scavo describes how difficult the job can be at times when you have to give players and coaches bad injury news. He describes how much the facilities and medical technology have improved on campus.
