    Casting Brad Pitt & Leo DiCaprio was the best thing Tarantino has ever done in his whole career as a director. And although Brad was the supporting actor, he became the movie's star. As a result, he won an Oscar for best supporting actor.

      Tarantino IS A ABSOLUTE FRAUD ITS SO HEAVY HANDED SQUEEZING ALL THE FACT OF 1969 INTO A MOVIE SCRIPT WAYY TOOO MANY CLOSE UPS ITS A JOKE AND SO IS HE

    I think it was kind of implied that he “ACCIDENTALLY “ killed his wife. He had been drinking. The boat was rolling. And he had the “fishing shotgun” pointed at her. The way he got away with it, was because it WAS an accident. But the Hollywood community loves a good rumor, and wouldn’t let it end.
    That story was based on Natalie Wood, who drowned off of Catalina. Where Cliff’s boat was.

    • @joeldaniel45
      @joeldaniel45 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      In the book, he actually wanted to kill her but once he shot her with his fishing gun, he split her in half and regretted it immediately. He held her body together for 7 hours, keeping her alive and reminiscing with her, before the coast guard got there to which he implied it was a complete accident. I would definitely recommend the book, you get about 50% more information about the characters and their backstory than you get in the movie.

    Got a buddy like Cliff but ugly and old. I'm a paraplegic and was telling him that the only reason I didn't take my life was because of my Christian faith. He told me that if it gets to be too much that he'd "take care of it" for me...said he figured with so many before one more wouldn't matter, especially in my case...
    What a guy...

    Really well done. Sincere and humorous. I also love the humility you express by admitting how much you admire him because he is so damn cool in the fire. He's also a good pal. I can tell you have read the book as well. You are so right when you mentioned the fact that well, it's Brad Pitt. The scene with Squeaky at the screen door at Spahn Ranch illustrates how damn simple he makes it look. "Now why would that be impossible?" I wish that Quentin would have included that scene from the book with those two mob mooks at the bar. Finally, I would like to point out what my old pal once told me about the heroes you admire. "Well there must be a large part of you inside that man you admire because if there wasn't, you wouldn't look up to him. You have the same good qualities that you are attracted to in your heroes. It's just a matter of owning them."
    Well you and I are probably not going to be like Cliff or look like Brad, but the fact that we deeply appreciate him is a true sign that you and me are really good men.
    All the best film nerd. Great job. Really.

  • @PeterCacioppi

    if you haven't read the book then you don't really understand why TheFilmNerd thinks of Cliff as Tarantino's most complex character. It's a bit of an unfair comparison to a character like Hans Landau, since Tarantino has only written the one novel. But Tarantino really gives a deeper backstory to Cliff and its well worth reading.
    At any rate, to compare him to Landau, one would have to ask "what are Landau's redeeming qualities". What makes Cliff complex is that he has such an interesting mix of both ethical and amoral behaviours. As the TheFilmNerd says, the murder of his wife isn't the only murder he gets away with.

    Notice how he shows emotion in only two scenes that too slightly he show his emotion 1. While killing his wife that anger he holds behind the happy cowboy vibe n also while fighting bruce u can see his anger slightly getting released beyond his cowboy disguise, in an emotion driven manipulating social media life we need cliff's disguise to not let emotions ruin our shit
    Other side rick who is not that gud in handling emotions also at a point makes a decision (breakdown scene) n sets his comforts n emotions aside n get what needs to be done

    One reason why Cliff Booth is the Dumbest character: he doesn't learn on his own mistakes. First, he smashed Janet's car while sparring with Lee, next he almost trrashed Dalton's car when he throwed a hippy on it. This move left a blood drop on car nonethless. That's why he can't get a job as a stuntman.
