I read an article. The shoes are symbolic. Rick wears boots because he's insecure and trying to be the tough guy he is on screen. Cliff wears moccasins because he's a legit bad ass and doesn't need to prove himself
I literally just wore an outfit tonight inspired by the new Scorsese movie coming out. I think it’s really awesome when people talk about the films that helped them find their style or even just an outfit
Rick's leather jacket was so powerful and had me shook, I had to get my own. Goes good with turtle necks but sometimes I pair it with a darker colored Hawaiian shirt underneath. Also got Cliff Booth watch.
This video is great. I'm doing a textiles project in school and I have to design and create a piece of clothing inspired by one of four directors: Quentin Tarantino, Wes Anderson, Tim Burton, or Baz Luhrmann. It was between Tarantino and Anderson but such a great analysis of Once Upon A Time In Hollywood makes me want to focus on the bright, colourful late 60's-early 70's menswear styles of this movie.
Loved Cliff's watch (Citizen 8110 bullhead) but opted for the panda dial and black bund strap, instead of Cliff's gold plated on brown bund strap. Slight continuity issue with it though, as it is actually period incorrect. The watch came out in 1972 while the movie is set in 1969.
I have researched clothing/hair actually worn by Manson Members. They are not similar at all to the film. Manson's girls never wore cut off shorts or midriff halter tops and only one girl wore overalls. They really had ugly clothes which mostly comprised of sleeveless shirts and long, bell bottoms that dragged on the ground and they never wore shoes. The jeans and shoes do not accurately reflect the fashions in 1968/9. Even the hippies at Woodstock did not wear these styles. This was a major problem for me while watching this film. Cliff's straight leg jeans and moccosins were not worn together by young people at this time. This is not a good film as far as costumes goes. Poor research on the costume designer's part.
I think you also missed the importance of the Champion auto parts t-shirt. These types of tshirts were popular with gear heads at the time, because they were free advertising. I figured the Hawaiian shirt was from Cliff's days of serving during WW2. Again, not trendy, just stuff he would have had
Got my own boots really nice I love them had them for since twenties and never really worn them yet. Been saving them . Getting repaired next week. A gift from Cousin. Thank you. A. 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖. 😄
Bloody Wrangler hiked their prices up immediately and Leo's leather jacket is going for movie star prices. Hope Wrangler supplied their clothes for free as they must be laughing now. Those 60's shoes looked good in the 60s but today eh nope.

You’re correct!
the moccasins he wear are so fire tho. and he also wears cowboy boots as well anyway
@@theaveragesquireI need to get some moccasins
@@bigjuicyjohn1649they are a lot more affordable than I thought they’d be lol
In the book it’s said that Cliff Booth has interest in foreign samurai movies. I figured that was the idea behind the Hawaiian shirt motif .
Oooh I didn’t read the book! That’s really interesting to hear. I love that as a little detail/reasoning for the shirt!
That white on white with black tee shirt is bad ass!
It goes so hard
I love both Rick and Cliff’s outfits. The boots, leather blazer, belt buckles etc.
They’re some of the cleanest looking in the Tarantino universe!
love cliff's vintage style yellow aloha shirt. great print and color
I want to get my hands on that shirt so badly. Or at least the fabric that made it so I can make one for myself
I'm not ashamed to admit that I model many of my everyday outfits from those worn by the guys in Tarantino movies.

Love the idea of pairing it with Hawaiian shirts! That’s so awesome that you were able to pick up the watch!
Nothing beats a good leather jacket
@WalterWallman so true!!
Where did you get your Rick jacket? I can’t find anything like the first one he wears
Great series! You should analyze the costume design of Elvis. That one pink suit was🔥
Thank you! I’ve thought about doing Elvis, might have to do it soon.

I like Leo di Caprio and Brad Pitt costumes. It fits Very well on them.
Amazingly!! Both looked so great!
Perhaps Cliff upgraded his footwear because he had spent the last 6 months in Europe?
Did you miss the Billy Jack connection on Cliff's denim? Not sure about fashion forward, as much as movie leftovers.
