      Since this case is really designed around custom water cooling, a custom loop would be cool. ;)

    • @SparkHelium

      I've actually been thinking about doing a dual build, both for my use and when a friend comes over to play. They can just bring their mouse, keyboard, and/or gpu. Don't really care for the vertical mount, but potentially in a showcase build, you can show case the waterblock in a custom loop. Phanteks covered a lot bases with this case. There are not many cases that can fit a dual system and this is one of them while being relatively in a decent size. The back tempered glass at first doesnt seem impressive, but imagine a modded build and those metal covers could be used to show off artwork along with a custom cpu backplate.

I'm gonna stock it with 7 noctua fans and potentially a radiator on top and bottom and only have RGB on the cables and RAM.

      Yeah, same with me, the case is on it's way here along with all the other hardware for my first build, and honestly, this case was one of the only ones that looked good to me that had decent cooling, I'm only going with air cooled for now, but who knows, perhaps I will try some custom watercooling or something in the future and this case is perfect for that.
      Even though it's a little bigger than a normal mid-tower case I am also fine with that, anything smaller than the full-tower I got right now is good, and it has extra storage mounts in case I need xD.

  • @dgracey01
    @dgracey01 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I ended up buying this case. One of the more expensive cases I've purchased but it is one of if not the best case I've ever owned. It turned into a $7k custom build, custom water cooled system. All front space I used for HDD mounts, all possible mount points occupied with hard drives. It leaves enough space to accommodate a dual fan GPU, currently using an Asus Dual 3070 OC. One day I might upgrade the internals, new board, CPU and GPU, but it will be hard to come up with something better than the Evolv X.

    Even if the case is water cooled, you still need fresh air coming in thru the fans to cool the radiator fins. Even my old 570x is in the 50 degrees with my Asus 1080ti which is a huge ass card. I had high hopes for the Evolve X. I`m super dissapointed. Dimitri gave us horrible temps of 90 degrees for the GPU too.

    Just a note, for dual systems you need the Revolt X PSU that can power 2 systems at once. Or possibly a beefy PSU with Phanteks' PSU splitter. There's only room for 1 PSU. And you need the ITX mounting bracket. I pre-ordered the case+Revolt X 1200w+ ITX bracket.
    Also this case wasn't meant to compete with the Meshify C or H500. Their P300 and P400 are their competitive cases for that market. The Evolv X is meant to compete with the NZXT H700i or Fractal Design R6. The large mid-tower do it all cases with high quality parts market.
    Airflow is somewhat of a concern, but the fact that you can put 3 140mm fans at the front should create plenty of air flow for any GPU. I would have liked them to actually include 4 fans instead of 3 just to remove all doubt that airflow isn't an issue. But given the audience this is for, most people would add more fans regardless.

    Thanks fellow Aussie for a great and very well detailed review. Looking at this now in Nov 2019 for my next build - stunning case - your camera work is extraordinary with extremely clean hi-res pans of the case. No ventilation of the PSU shroud is such a silly oversight! I wish they'd make a smaller version without dual system capability, a ventilated PSU cover AND an internal optical drive. That drive would very useful and there are many who still want one for dis imaging, DVD creation and many other things. So much better than a USB external one. Cheers from Sydney, Aust. (P.S: Any idea when the next version is due?)

    why do you test the temp with 1070 and 1060? i dont think people that buy 200$ case will use a 1060.

    • @thathorrorshow4126
      @thathorrorshow4126 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Consider something else. Even if you choose the water cooling route, you still need air coming thru the fans to cool the radiator fins. This is something Ive been telling people and they still don`t get it. Right now I`m using the 570x and my GPU temps are in the 50`s. When I game I crank the fans to 60% it goes up to 60 degrees because if I don`t I`ll fry the thing. I`m super dissapointed because when I saw the Evolve X case in Computex I was stunned and I thought it was gonna be a great case. Reconsider. Good luck.

      I don`t know, I hope you are right because you still need air coming in to cool the radiator. Even if its a push and pull config. I was so hyped for this case now I`m, eh. I hope Jay does a test with a 1080ti or at least a 1080. But I`m already looking at other cases for my second build. Lets hope for the best. I really want to love the case.

      @thathorrorshow4126 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @mashygreen6974
      @mashygreen6974 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That Horror Show one of the major issues he was talking about was the distance of the GPU from the intake fans and the shroud. I’m not convinced that’s the only issue - but assuming it is then those limitations are not present when watercooling (there is no distance between the front intake and the front rad, not any airflow restriction from the shroud, right?).
      I personally think this is much more of a visual case than just a performance case, so I would expect to have worse performance for better looks at least to some degree.

    Just wondering I had recently bought this pc case not too long ago and am questioning the d-rgb connect for the case. My motherboard is a asus crosshair VI hero and have no place to connect the d-rgb connector to the motherboard (ADD Header). Is there a way I can connect the d-rgb to my asus crosshair VI hero so I can use use the AURA Sync program with it or would I have to get a new motherboard?

    Pre orderd this case the moment I could. Going for a sleek water cooled setup. Same colour option as you reviewed. Nice review btw, It was new yo me that GPU thermals aren't as good as other cases. No problem for me though. I have a question for you. Can you please tell me what model phanteks fans are included? Could not find the exact model anywhere. Thanks and keep it up!!

    Please suggest me. I have i7 6700K + Kraken X52 + Aorus Xtreme 1080Ti. I am never gonna build Custom Loop for sure. So for a simple build like mine, which one would be the best choice? Phanteks Evolv X or Cooler Master H500M?
    Thank You :)

    Damn, Ali, just ask Phanteks to make a new evolv itx, with that perfect front panel design, without separated PSU layer as they did in first version and with perforated side panels ofc, please please please!

    and then i found out you were yet another person who didn't bother to make the ultimate "front panel on/off" test..
    such shame, would really appreciate if you made a follow up vide
    its a common problem with modern cases where looks > performance, front panels are solid and they often can cause temp increase up to 10 celsius

      If you may manage withoth case RGB and plastics, may I dare recomend Fractal Design? Filters on top/front and bottom are easy take on/off. I have R5 and love it, but would perhaps now buy Define C, or the newer Meshify S2. Both come with and without temp. glass(So you can have your RGB if you want). If with big boy you mean E-ATX, you have the Define 7 XL Big Tower.

    I think the best fan configuration would be 3 140mm fans in the front with the 360mm radiator on the top. And no fan on the rear. Otherwise there's negative air pressure and that's not ideal.

    • @ItsZim0
      @ItsZim0 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think triple 140mm fans are compatible for the front or the top. It's either triple 120mm or dual 140mm.

      I put a 420mm 45mm radiator into my Evolv X and an 280mm 30mm radiator up in the top. Works just fine. You can put either an 360 or an 420 in the front, an 360 or an 280 in the top.

    • @Oscar-vi4uf
      @Oscar-vi4uf 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@keremkesici4244 How many exhausts vs intake did you use for the Case. That's like my biggest concern right now. I'm gonna use x3 140mm on the front. 360mm liquid on top and 140mm in the rear.
