Mr. Lober, I've decided to use my leisurely time right now to tell you what an abundance of inspiration your music from the album VOYANT has been to my creativity over some years now. LARA was my first exposure, followed by THE COAST, CRISTOPHER, and OROS. But after a time with these I finally gave the rest of the album a listen, and the tracks VOYANT (intro), HERE, PRAY and VALOR were added to my long list of frequent listens--my current favorites, I think! Now, what does this music do for me, and why do I believe it to be a cut above SO MUCH other music out there--especially of the modern, soulless variety? I think I know at least part of the answer to that. I think your music has well... a sort of Realness to it, an Actuality, if you follow me. I'm a creative type, you see, and the Voyant album has non-imaginary atmosphere, and a story interwoven throughout it. (I'm not making this up! I've written whole scenes and discovered character's emotions, places and raw impactful scenarios more than once! I have 2 concept ideas in particular--not finished yet, but...soon???--and anyway, they absolutely THRIVE off this sort of stuff. Music like Porter Robinson's Sad Machine...though to be honest, apart from only a few of his thus far (SHELTER, SEA OF VOICES) as well as practically your entire VOYANT album!! I have yet to discover much quality stuff in this genre--which was popular in the 2010s but was rarely what ought to be called quality.) I would label your music as very sci-fi, but with I guess a very noticeably deep human element. And I don't mean 'human' in the modern, shallow way of speaking. I mean, it bespeaks of Humanity at its core elements, emotions, and...whatever else! 😀 I wish I were a philosopher on the subject but I'm still learning all those poetic words and their meanings. (Humanity in general has got a lot of learning to do...) Now um, if i may be a critic for a quick moment of your time--and no one is saying I'm to be entirely trusted in my opinions, but bear with me here--I might say I've found most of these aforementioned tracks too fluctuating--despite many of the fluctuations resulting in superior parts to what was playing beforehand!--and I'd also like to point out that the volume switches are a bit radical. And if I may continue my rather-blunt critique I'd also point out that maybe some of the 'actions' you build up to are overplayed, if you'll take my word for it. And as a final suggestion (that I just thought of recently???) I would say that VOYANT was perhaps rendered too fast? Maybe the tracks' run times could have been extended? Y'know, almost like krautrock albums such as Klaus Schulze's from the 70s as one suggestion? Actually the album is almost better understood as the soundtrack to some amazing piece of art, yet unpublished! Anyways, my friend, I don't want to end this on a bad note. Your music was been some of the most inspiring I've ever listened to. And alongside Schulze's 70s stuff, some of Hammock's 2000's sounds like DEPARTURE SONGS and RAISING YOUR VOICE TRYING TO STOP AN ECHO; and I suppose Martin O'Donnell's Halo soundscores, your VOYANT album has been a large inspirational force of music for me. Maybe not everyone can handle your radical style, man, but I sure appreciated it. Thanks for reading, and...well...if I may again... Uh, I'd try to perfect the VOYANT style at some point and deliver the finished result to the world! It'd be a mighty contribution, I think! You have yourself a very good life, Mr. Lober. Thanks again.
One life and it better be right One stop and it's already gone One blink and it's already gone... ...Now it's time to transform to better Revise and rectify my mistakes And be welcome in the truth home. Thank you, i love your music Phil.
"Where is your home?" Or so the question is asked time and time again Some find the home in the darkest places, others as they roam in their sleepless paces And others still, in the quiet of cool nights and soft days when they lay and dream and deny it, only alive in their imagining ways My home is in forests far and near, on soft roads and empty blue skies, but never here So waste no time in learning where you lie in bliss, there is no life, no love in yearning, for there is much you stand to miss Take your plans and unripened fruit, your hidden worlds and dreams, your frantic love bursting at the seams, Make something real, Make what you feel, Make it home.
Hey! They're not deleted. Just privatized, organizing the Soundcloud right now. They should be back on there soon. If they aren't and people are craving them, I'll post the private links here.

Revise and rectify my mistakes

"The true home." I like it.
Your style is consistently unique and awesome, great job!
Phil Lober is the only music that I listen to while making art. The music is so inspiring.
I very much agree with that statement.
Pure eargasm, Phill!!!

"Where is your home?"
Or so the question is
asked time and time
again
Some find the home
in the darkest places,
others as they roam
in their sleepless paces
And others still, in the quiet
of cool nights and soft days
when they lay and dream and deny it,
only alive in their imagining ways
My home is in forests far and
near, on soft roads and empty
blue skies, but never here
So waste no time in learning
where you lie in bliss,
there is no life, no love in yearning,
for there is much you stand to miss
Take your plans and unripened
fruit, your hidden worlds and dreams,
your frantic love bursting at the seams,
Make something real,
Make what you feel,
Make it home.
I wanted to write down my appreciation of this, my friend.
