  • During my visit to Denver this year i got a chance to stop by the worlds largest comic book shop, Mile High Comics. We toured the entire store front to back, every comic, every toy, every collectible. The owner Chuck was there and shared with me some amazing comic book history. So sit back and enjoy this virtual tour with myself and special commentary by my friend Bullseye Bob.

When I went a couple years back, I was blown away but quickly realized this is not a real store. You see this is a collection that just so happens to be for sale for the right price. almost everything is overpriced. I flew from California the land of high prices and was completely dumbfounded by the prices and rudeness of staff. Overall, a neat museum in a rough part of town. honestly the only place in Colorado I felt like I may get robbed in. I'm glad that it looks in better shape than when I visited (Very, very dusty), but the prices seem to be even higher!

It's just a personal hoard and museum. Worth a look, but I would never buy anything there! It's sad to see those big boy grails and keys just dying in the light and fading away over time. The staff is also notoriously rude. Seeing the ASM #122 8.0 for $1200 was laughable. I bought a 8.5 for $425, lol, ridiculous.

Sorry boys, don't dangle that carrot in front of my face and have me walking 10 miles without a nibble...The store looks GREAT but waaaay out of my price range...I believe I saw a 6 figure book and it wasn't even graded, I would never be able to move any of those books and see a profit...probably gonna end up losing money.

Never been to Mile High, but I used to order comics from them back in the early 2000s, and even then, I thought some of their inventory was very overpriced. Now I feel everything there is just ridiculously overpriced. However, I would still enjoy and appreciate visiting just to see the place for myself. Thank you ever so much for this video, Bueller! Been living in Colorado for 15 years now and finally went to Mile High Comics yesterday! It was amazing! We needed more time to explore! Chuck came in at the tail end of the day and asked if we needed any help. They definitely keep an eye on you while in the store but that's understandable. With many $200+ comics on the shelf, long boxes and pull-out bins. Their staff seemed nice and the guy at the counter showed me an upcoming auction with a few Venom comics that were up for grabs (he noticed the Venom shirt I was wearing). All the yellow tag books (which is a lot of them) were 60% off. I picked up a VF - Doctor Strange Vol 2 #79, a book I had been wanting for my collection and to read. The one when Doctor Strange is wounded and his astral form possesses Morgana Blessing and she becomes the female Doctor Strange. The surrounding area of the store is a little rough and could use some landscaping and a new fence. The inside of the store is fairly well maintained for such a huge space. Could use some polish and modern upgrades and perhaps paint. It was great to see many kids and teenagers even up to the closing moments of the store getting last minute purchases. I watched a couple young adults sift through a pull-out bin, purchase the comics they were searching for, then immediately go to their car and start reading through in the parking lot. Was great to see. For anyone that says physical comics are dieing because of digital, I think our younger generations have something to say about that. Overall, an awesome experience, would recommend!

lol, right away, the Silver Surfer #1 is way out of whack. A CGC 9.4 is worth $1,500 not some low grade restored one. The raw Hulk 181, depending on the grade (MVS intact) may or may not be worth that. The raw X-men #1, JIM #83 and TOS #39 are over priced by a mile, the TOS #39 if it is indeed a VF may be a bit on the pricey side, but looks within reason. The DD #1 is way over-priced as well as the VG copy of FF#1

Great video dude, nice teamup with Bullseye Bob 👍
I actually used to shop at mile high's website, about 10 or 15 years ago.
They did the 40-50% off back issue sales, and the prices were reasonable.
They'd often have different price ranges available depending on the raw grade of the books, and various grades of each book often in stock. I actually bought the entire run of the Punisher magazines that reprinted his stories with those awesome covers....and I paid a couple dollars per issue.
Fast forward to 2023, that ship has sailed. But what a piece of comic book history, just walking around in there I can imagine the stories and experiences of all the people who those books have passed hands through....amazing.
I wish I had the foresight as a child to put in some orders from those mile high comic inserts, I think we all do.

People reach a certain level of business success in their life where they can define their ideal client and forget the rest. You tell the client you will sell on these parameters or not at all and if they do not like it they can go elsewhere. Nothing wrong with that. After being in business for decades you learn which consumers cause a lot of grief and complain with sucking up time and aggravation and which are easy to deal with.

Yes most of their books are way way over priced.. just looking at this video. I was laughing hysterically because any comic book collector knows approximately what the value of the book is. Except for what is stored you are not sure what you are going to get.. I mean I have amazing fantasy 15 8.0 we stored no trimming. I would say that somewhere in the $20-$30,000 range I bought that many years ago from the Comics buyers guide newspaper as raw. I only paid $450.. I have a regular copy 6.0. I do have Superman. 1 I bought that RAW The seller told me it was restored. I bought that for $12,500.. it came back 5.0 moderate professional restoration, no trimming. Of course it’s worth lots of money anyway..

Bueller I got to go to MH frequently when I lived in Denver (once a month). Just to see their new inventory. Overly priced. Sure they have good books, but 3-4X FMV. Even their bin books are not worth searching through, insanely priced.

@@ComicswithBueller that said, I actually bought some amazing books cheap at Mile High. They have a 50% off sale on bin and wall books a couple times a year, if you know what market value is for some books and know what you are searching for you can get deals.

Prices are ridiculously overpriced and the staff is extremely rude and unhelpful. When I went I was legitimately concerned that anyone worked there because nobody would ask or see if I needed help. Worst experience ever in a comic book store. About the only reason to go is to say you went.

All I see is a lot of concrete floors, dusty display cases and empty aisles. Prices for the low grades on display kida pissed me off a little. And I hate the cavernous ceiling. But, they certainly do got the comics. Your just not allowed to leave there with them with your wallet still intact. Not really interested in the other junk piled up in the cases in every anal recess of that place.

  • @1337pino
    @1337pino ปีที่แล้ว +1

The prices in that first cabinet are waaaaaaaay too high for those grades. Those look more like NM- prices or better (except for maybe the Hulk #181). Feels more like those are intended to be sold, but if you want to buy the books, then you'll have to reach way too high to take the books away from them.
