@@speedgenius9918 Different day, different performance. The horse looked too keen early and ran below its best. Simple as that. It doesn’t make you right about anything. They aren’t machines.
He's just the sweetest staying horse I've seen in a long time. I'd love to see him having a crack at winning the Coronation Cup at the Epsom Derby meeting.
Robert Delacy I guess so. Barely a fortnight between Coronation Cup & Ascot Gold Cup. I was maybe thinking of the 'Coronation' as an alternative to Ascot Gold Cup. But yes, no real reason for him to stop being aimed once again at Ascot. Maybe it's good that I never took up racehorse training LOL
He ran in the Coronation Cup last year, finishing 3rd behind Ghaiyyath and the ill-fated Anthony Van Dyck, before winning the Gold Cup at Ascot in dazzling fashion. It's not impossible that he could do both again. I'm not so sure that we won't see him try 12f at some point this season. Otherwise why bring him back and why, at the end of last season, did they shorten him up? He's done about everything you can do as a stayer. If you're trying to increase his stallion fees, there are only two things left to try -- ie, winning in top company at a middle distance or perhaps trying dirt in the BC Marathon some other major US race. If all they're doing is padding his resume as a stayer, I'd point him for the Melbourne Cup.
Love this horse What a champ I hope some people try to breed flat horses with him. Ribot was sired by a Goodwood Cup winner we have to remember. Alicydon sired classic winners
It is high time that Cup race champions like Stradivarius are given the credit for being the top class horses that they are. Everyone goes on about Enable but he carried 3lbs more than her, over her favourite distance, in last years Arc and only lost to her by half a length. The winner Sotsass only beat him by six and a half. Over 2m plus he would beat them both ! He is the best on the flat. I would love to see him have a go in the Stayers' Hurdle at Cheltenham but I know "Johnny G" won't let him do it.
Not quite as convincing as some of his other wins at Ascot have been in past years. But not too shabby either considering he was in last place boxed in coming to the business end of the race, and Dettori had to go wide to run down and eventually on by two improving stayers in Ocean Wind, beaten a length in 2nd and Nayef Road beaten 1-1/2 lengths in 3rd. And lest we forget, Stradivarius was coming into the Sagaro Stakes off a 193 day layoff from his well beaten 12th of 13 place finish when last seen last October at Ascot in the British Champions Long Distance Cup.
You say that but most of the time he wins like that. It was only last years gold cup that he won by a long way because it fell apart. He is well known for only doing enough when hitting the front.
@@tomhurcombe2185 That's what Frankie mentioned too, you could see the rider stopped his hands for a while in the straight since strad hit the front too soon.
Thought Ocean Wind is the horse to take from that race. I know he already had a run under his belt compared to Strad but he's lightly raced and progressing nicely for Roger Teal. I wouldnt put you off a good e/w price in the gold cup at Ascot.
Incroyable champion mais je ne comprends pas pourquoi il n'est pas encore rentré au haras. Les années passent et le nombre de produits à venir va en s'amenuisant. I still don't get how in England they get to change lanes right in front of another horse, where they would be DQ'ed in America. Stradivarius moved from the middle of the course at the top of the stretch and ended up on the rail, whatever.
He wasn't doing anything once he hit the front there. Cocked its head and idled all the way to the line lol. Probably need to be delivered late these days.
Wouldnt describe that as workmanlike, he won with plenty up his sleeve. Probably hit the front sooner than ideal and he looked a bit fat but won easily in my opinion. Worthy favourite for this years GC.
@@robertdelacy3434 Stradivarius cut right across Ocean Wind breaking his stride and momentum causing the horse to come around Stradivarius , if that incident hadn’t happened Ocean Wind would have won .

Well done Stradivarius.
