- Located in the basement of Katong Shopping Centre, a building that has gone through three failed en bloc attempts, Dona Manis has been operating for the past 24 years.
Well known for its Nanyang-styled banana pies, many may not know the meaning of the bakery's name. According to the owner, apparently Dona Manis shares the name as a Peranakan banana kueh.
Creator of the pie, Mdm Soh Tho Lang, insists on using quality ingredients such as New Zealand butter, American almonds and large eggs. At only $2.50 per slice, these pies go out of stock daily before the shop closes.
