My favorite part of Lord of the Rings is when Frodo attacks and is tempted by the Ring because I gained 3 life this turn, and then I draw a card because the Ring has tempted me twice this game. "Just like in the books!"

Why is MtG cardboard crack? I had a small season of buying tons of packs, food be damned, i wanted to open boosters, smell the fresh card, see what token or art i would get.
I'll be honest, that sounds like an absolutely awesome time to me, but I'm weird and I just love sorting cards. I've got my 8,000 card collection sorted by colour > CMC > alphabetical and all cards added to my Moxfield collection, which I can then use to know what cards I have and don't have when building a new deck. I enjoy it so much that I even sorted my friend's 3k card collection in the same way, but again, I'm a weird guy.

I would have been able to help sort out the decks quicker as I've also bought all of them (as that's how I got back into magic) and because I'm obsessed with UB I know what goes in what deck off the top of my head x.x Side note: I watched this as I'm working on updating my UB only deck
My brother cousin and brother in law have been playing magic for years… the lotr was my gateway drug now I have like 8 commander decks including 5 I built from scratch.

Just an idear, if your friend ever gets tired of only playing precons - and want to see the other Cards in his Lord of the rings Collection being put to use. Help him make a Cube of the non-precon Cards
I love my friends but not enough to build everything for them. I would build them 1 deck so they can practice with it so they can learn to build the rest on their own. If they feel lost in the next decks they build? I would just give them a deck list so they can do it them selves. If you are gonna play? At least show some intrest in building the rest.
@@AlexRedStar that is a absolutely fair cutoff point. Let me explain a couple personal reasons for why I built ALL of them for him. Which I didn't mention in the video. 1. Me buying the sleeves and assembling the decks is his (early) Christmas present. 2. I have more experience in MTG so I'd be able to do it faster. And because he is very busy, he would never get it done. 3. He said I can use the decks and let my friends use them when I play commander with my play group. So while this is disguised as a generous gift I'm giving him, I gain personal benefits from it too. But again, your cutoff point is very reasonable.

But i would help my friends build their own decks in person or just lend them mine untill they get well integrated into the game. So i can teach them sinergy,mulligans and draw test so they can learn the best possible outcome even with the worst of odds. At the end of the day? I even let them proxy or use banned cards to not force them to overspend specially if they end up not needing the proxied cards at the end so they lose $0 money.

there was a much better and easier way for this. first of all, the most Commander cards have a different symbol. so you can finde over 50% by this. second, if you use something like Moxfield or so on you tablet, pc or smartphoen you can let you show the cards as Art and not only the name so you have with this a better way tu search as just to read the name and search the card by the name. so for the next time, think about the commander edition logo and a decklist there you can see the cards and not need to read the names. much much better.
@@SkyFallenNerolin yep. I used the commander shield icon to find many of the cards. But some of them were printed in the main set and therefore had the regular logo. As for the computer moxfield thing, switching tabs on my computer screen or hovering over card art was a bit too annoying for me. Great suggestions!
@@Just.Westin you can Change on moxfield the View Options. Visual grid Change IT so that you See the full Card without Hover the Mouse over the Card Name. Yes the switching could BE annoying, but for this Just do one Deck and then the next. For each Deck IT goes faster because you have less cards and know the cards better there they are. This is how IT would Work for me 🤔
