    Do not rush it just like melev’s reef did wipe out his tank and he blamed low potassium for his rookie mistake. Tank looks amazing!!

      Exactly he blamed low potassium and to this day I do not believe that's what wiped out a lot of his corals in my opinion what did it was chemiclean yeah y'all can say I don't know what I'm talkin about but anytime you use a chemical!!!!!! You're taking a big chance of harming your corals I never personally have a cyano if you noticed a day or two after he added chemiclean that's when all of his problems started I did pay attention to that and the problems continued of course he's going to say it was low potassium because he does not want admit he screwed up!!!! and a lot of his followers got pissed at me and I really didn't care because I voiced my opinion he screwed up and tried to blame it on a low potassium people do not use chemiclean you are taking a chance in my experience keeping about 4 PPM of nitrate and phosphate at 0.10 or detectable amounts of nitrate and phosphate I never have had any algae problems whatsoever my tank stays very clean if you have a cyano problem try to deal with it with water changes and manually taking it out of the tank if you have a cyano problem something is out of whack in your tank

    My worst fear when I’m mixing up KNO3. Godspeed to your recovery!

      Indeed :) probably still better than overdosing alk :D

    I had a valida growing like weeds with nice coloration with nitrates way above 100!

    • @TreasureCorals
      @TreasureCorals  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, I think that nitrates can be quite high and corals will enjoy themselves. Let me guess - you were using Salifert to check your nitrates?

    • @AMGEE
      @AMGEE 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TreasureCorals Yes, i use Salifert for all different tests.

    • @TreasureCorals

      @@AMGEE that's what I thought, from my experience when salifert would give me a 100 nitrate, in reality it is closer to 20-30 on other nitrate checkers

    I struggle with nitrates Dmitry I manually dose Kno3 when they’re not above 5ppm. Hopefully will come down naturally and with water changes 👍

      They slowly are, but certainly been taking a lot longer than I expected - as you will be able to see on AquaticLog.

    I had 150 all SPS died LP's loved it took it down to 2ppm nitrate using aquaforest pro bio s

    I just feed on a regiment to keep things somewhat stable. I've never really thought about dosing Nitrate.

    • @TreasureCorals
      @TreasureCorals  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      yep, I think that if your nitrates are not hitting zero - then there's little point in dosing nitrate, but I want mine to be at a certain range

    Since your tank has no sand. Doing a wet skim you will see nitrates dropping on its own. Also feed a little more dry food to up the phosphate. Small water change until your under .020. Than do nothing Within a week your be close to your levels.

    • @TreasureCorals
      @TreasureCorals  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your advice, I skim fairly dry - so will try to change it to wet.

    Why would you dose a component that is a breakdown product of decay and conversion from bacterial waste, instead of dosing food that would then both be eaten as well as broken down to waste that would then be broken down further by bacteria.

      Fair question, my thought process is that most food is a lot richer in phosphate than nitrate, so when one just adds food you increase phosphate a lot more than nitrate. This has always been the case for me, I prefer to do both - feed heavy but also try to maintain both phosphate and nitrate in balance.

    I have a 100 litre low tech tank. It is not stable enough for Acro my corals are more forgiving. So not comparing like with like. I hand dose Brightwell NeoNitro as lots of You Tube reefers have had tanks crashed by automatic systems failing. I am guessing AI will eventually iron out these errors. Thanks for the content.
