Set a single pin at 30 yards, if a deer is 20 yards aim a bit low, at 40 yards aim a bit high. I figure if I'm over 40 yards from an animal I usually have time to adjust the sight.
I want a 3 pin sight for hunting but I want to shoot long range targets but I’m pulling 50 pounds which is hard to do with a 3 pin I need a 1 pin to shoot farther
Main thing is be comfortable and confidence with your equipment. I went from a 5 pin to a single and won't go back. Set my pin at 30 learn the hold how much drop from the each distance. Putting my 30 pin on bullseye seeing where it hits and checking the drop on on the 40 yard so once I figure that out I know where to hold high low. Just like a rifle scope. any further than I should have more time to adjust.
I use the Apex Covert Pro 1 pin with a Leopold Vebetta 2 bow mounted rangefinder. I have to say that it is a nice setup. What do you think of this setup?
Pin sights are the best way to go when hunting. You don’t have to range, make your adjustment, draw and shoot. You range, draw, put your pin on and shoot. Single pins are for target or 3D shooting. I purchased a used bow with a HHA Tetra and it’s getting replaced. I have people say I’m crazy because it’s a damn good sight and single pin but it’s not for me. Tried hunting with it this past season and it was a nightmare.
Dude just got my 8 year old in to archery. Do you or anyone have any advice on how to make her a better shooter and to have fun at the same time.I just tell her to keep her elbow up when she draws back so she won’t mess up her shoulder.
Best advice I can give with teaching a new young archer is patients and allow them to enjoy shooting even if they’re form is bad and stuff. Once they grow into loving the sport then you slowly begin teaching new techniques and form so they don’t hurt themselves and can shoot the best they can
Garmin xero. Leave the guess work behind. I had the spot hogg. Loved it for 3d and stuff but hunting I love my garmin xero. Try one out you won't be disappointed
@@Mitch.Engel84 I never understood why they would not allow people to not use them. All it does is measures a distance and sets a pin. I'm sure a boomer type was behind this and everyone just followed because they don't know any better
Keen to know what you shoot. 29inch draw at 68lbs with a 540 gr arrow at 261 fps zeroed at 25m shoots 4 inch high at 10m and 4 inch low at 30m - 8inch range from 10 to 30m - not half inch? With a 484 gr arrow (Axis 300 and 125 gr head) the range is 7 inchs between 10 and 30m - zeroed at 25m. Why I want to switch to single pin.
I like the idea I truly feel like I would shoot better with a 1 pin. I am comfortable out to 80 with about a 6 inch grouping at that range with my 7 pin I have right now. However I believe every second counts and if I have to adjust my sight that one second it took the animal could of caught scent and ran off. While I could of shot with my 7 pin.
Bro, love your content! I just got into bow hunting not to long ago, and picked up my first low priced bow (Diamond Edge). I’ve already maxed my poundage out, and am going to give my old bow to my wife, and I’ve been binge watching your reviews for insight on a new bow! I’m looking into the Hoyt Axius Ultra, Prime Black 3 or 5, and the Mathews VXR 31.5. I’m leaning towards Hoyt though, because Hoyt lol anyways, thank you brother for your channel! Oh, and I run a 5 pin for the exact reasons you mentioned. 👌
With the single pen site you could set it to 50 yards and anything under 50 yards just aim low I would say if you're at 25 yards I would aim about one foot low and you should be in the targets real nice. If you're closer than 25 yards then you're going to start to approach back towards that 50 yard pin. I believe at 3 yards your 50-yard pin should be accurate again.
That is true! Personally I have a hard time with gapping shots. I like to have a pin on the target I’m shooting whether it’s single pin or multi pin haha
Haxen Hunt hello I’m looking into getting the vxr and need some info I have 28dl which bow will be best .. and also which of the bows is better , holding at full draw feels more stable ... was thinking going with 75lb mods as well

That’s a good rule of thumb for sure

Buy a 3 pin moveable and use the bottom pin as a floater 👍
Hi, Can you introduce Garmin Xero A1i PRO Bow Sight
Nice shot at 130. What arow setup where you using brand wieght etc.
A 130 yard shot? Damn. That’s talented.
I just switched from a 3pin to an HHA optimizer tetra. Will not go back to a multi pin sight.

Yes very good perspective!
@@HaxenHunt have you done a speed loss test on the limbsavor twistlocks just out of curiosity?
I haven’t! Not a bad idea though!
What is your technique for shooting 130yds with a 5-pin? I shoot a 7-pin and have a very difficult time figuring out a way to be consistent at 100yds.
Silly question, when you say range for 25 so you can shoot 20 and 30. Do you mean just using the top of the dot and bottom? Or am I missing something?
I use the Apex Covert Pro 1 pin with a Leopold Vebetta 2 bow mounted rangefinder. I have to say that it is a nice setup. What do you think of this setup?
That’s pretty sweet! I’ve never actually used a bow mounted range finder haha
It's actually not that bad. It's been a lot easier than having to pull up my hand held rangefinder.
I have been fine with my 3 pin. Never shot 50 yards though. But damn man 130 yards?! Nice shot!
and even without a lens, that's incredible!

Another thing you could touch upon could be pros and cons of shooting with both eyes open or one eye open
For sure!!

Yes I really need to try one!
Wish we could use them in WA State. I’d be all over it.

I use spot Hogg fast Eddie xl double pin. It's a single pin wt two Mark's. It works great.

Whiiskey Rabbit I picked up the axius ultra a few months ago. You won’t regret it if that’s what you went with
@@nicklikespeanuts I did go Hoyt! My local shop though didn’t have the Ultra I wanted, so I had to order it. I’m just waiting for it patiently lol
Fast Eddie XL single pin multi point., wont go anything else. More pins = crowded window and mess up.
I like the single pin. Multiple pins messes with my eyes pretty bad. I would like to try a 3 pin slider set at 25, 40, 50 though.
3 pin slider is for sure the best! I’ve got one on another setup and it’s sick!
Nice review on sights 🍻.. i’m not too worried as soon as I win I will be talking to you about how to build my first bow for hunting. 🇺🇸🦌
👊🏽
Hey good to see ya back, and with good debate .I have an acquaintance who wounded 2 deer using a single pin slider(whitetail)
Dang! That’s no fun! There’s always a debate and a preference on what people like to use, there’s for sure pros and cons to both!
Great review. Good to see you back at it!

If you practice at 130 then 130 is an ethical shot for you. Good work 👌
130 yards... sweet!.. that's what I say...practiced, dialed in, comfortable, and perfect situation...send it 👍🏼
