  • In this photoshop tutorial, I show you my portrait retouching process from start to finish. I use Lightroom, Affinity Photo and Adobe Photoshop to perform skin retouching using frequency separation, brighten eyes, enhance skin contouring and show you some tricks of the trade to create beautifully edited headshots.
    I show you my graphics tablet and console too!

    5:08 - Pull the adjustment off the layer and it becomes a new layer.
    Notes for future me, love the video Mark!

    I do wish tutorial people would tell us what they think is wrong wit the photo or would could be improved before they start. Rather than just playing round with every slider to see what happens

    I bet you will really be happy with the content aware brush in LRC now... it is amazing for removing blemishes so much faster.

    I don't shoot portraits as much as I would like. That makes it even harder to practice with them properly. Which in turn makes me feel like I'm not getting much better at it.
    But I'm definitely saving this video, for when I get to do one again! I might even give older, discarded images another go.
    Awesome video!

    Great video Mark. Can you explain why you've decided to finish the process in PS ? In your previous video it was all done in Affinity. I'm interested in your reasoning

      Yeah, same question mark. Seems like all the work done in ps can be done in affinity photo. Why PS?

    This type of busywork is also easily outsourced, which can be an extra source of income! There is a big market in Korea (not North) for doing retouching, editing, etc. at good quality at a very low price. :)

    • @zardosspinosa6944
      @zardosspinosa6944 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think that defeats the purpose of the video

    • @realthoprivate
      @realthoprivate ปีที่แล้ว

      @@zardosspinosa6944 Depends on who the audience is, of course. But from a business perspective, it makes no sense to do low-pay time consuming busywork when it is easily outsourced. Doing generic retouch of a generic headshot of a generic person takes maybe an hour, and is worth maybe $5. A bit like you can also find videos of how to wash your windows - but most of us still pay someone to do it, instead of wasting hours doing it ourselves.

    • @zardosspinosa6944
      @zardosspinosa6944 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@realthoprivate Hmm, last time I Iooked this video was not about window cleaning. Its an educational video and I found it quite valuable. Maybe Mark is the kind of guy who takes pride in his work and wants to make every photo his own rather than sending off to some bozzo in South Korea to get his grubby hands on it. Lets put it another way. A portrait photo is a personal thing especially when it comes to females. So the girl comes back to pick up her photos and says is that me? And you say, oh yes, but I am a complete a-hole and I am too busy to edit your photos so I sent them off to some random in India and yes there are a few mistakes, but its ok. And yes I do clean my own windows and I do my own washing and yes I do edit my own portraits, you arrogant prick

    I beg to differ. His technique is really dated and amateurish. People were doing this 10 years ago in photoshop. Next!
