So leicht dahinfließend, so viel Struktur. Vollkommen.... Nur die Applauskaskade hätte man rausschneiden müssen. Brutal.
I would have smothered him with great delight....coughing on Schumann's Kinderszenen sentence ought to be "Death by firing squad (while listening to Brahmes top volume...)"
eert tree I highly prefer the Columbia 1962 recording. In this period Horowitz played better than any time before or after. It is one of my favorite recordings together with Arrau.

the best version of Schumann Kinderszenen ever ! FÜrchtenmachen is the best movement, I've been looking for it for almost ten years...didn't know the title until a music teacher listened to the recording and said right away "Well, that's Schumann" like it was something obvious
Hello Box it's all right. Yes, some people are just plain self-satisfied, pleased with what they know. For me it is the very definition of stupidity, to see only what you do know and not what you don't. The truth is I felt so embarrassed when he said so, as if I was supposed to have knew this, as if it was a great gap in my culture...
ameblo.jp/galwayera/entry-12218181511.html#cbox I believe that Horowitz was one of the greatest pianists in 20 century as same as Glenn Gould. Especially, I'd like to declare that his "Scenes from childhood" and "Kreisleriana" are extraordinarily marvelous. When I hear first tune "Of foreign lands and peoples", my heartbeat becomes faster for joy.
The version that I grew up with that melts me almost to tears is Daniel Barenboim, Berlin Philharmonic, directed by von Karajan. I know there are a million versions of different pieces and every version speaks to us for very personal reasons. For me that is my favorite because it is what I grew up with and I have great memories attached.
oceanspitfirefly what do you mean with Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and Karajan? This is a work for solo piano. I understand your love for Barenboim. I still remember when his recording of the Kinderszenen came out in late seventies. About this time I heard him play it in Essen together with Fantasy and Carneval .
I have been searching for 'Traumerei' for more than three hours now, then someone coughed @ 6:59. WTH !? I have to give you a thumb down. Sorry... sigh*
Michael Chavez It's really annoying and frustrating when you're listening to beautiful music, trying to ruminate and soak in the harmonious melody when suddenly, ngek!, someone cough or farts, and it kills the mood. Sheesh. LOL!
I will never ever so much as look at any live recording of a classical virtuoso piece. Try it, and you'll see - well, hear - exactly what I mean. Dreadful. Terrible.

Very generous of Horowitz to perform for the TB ward.
My Dad would play Traumerei on the piano when I was a child. This really takes me back.
And I heard about sodomie also?
@@olivierpotier3620 What!?
I've got some cough drops here if anyone wants them

Lovely, divine, intense, energetic, poetic, Horowitz, Schumann.
One of the best Schumann interpretation, according to me. Especially with the "Furtenmachen" movement.
The best kinderszenen ever.

This Sonata is played as background music for the film "Last Summer".. I am glad I found the movie & the music.

Wonderfully beautiful: Thank you very much!
Fürchtenmachen (11:36) by Horowitz, the greatest piano composition of all times....to my humble opinion ; )
SCHUMANN è il mio compositore preferito !!!!!!!!!
This is the pinnacle of Mankind
The Amazing Horowitz!
I heard this in Milo and Otis.
To those who had no throat lozenges and just HAD to audibly cough:
"It isn't the cough that carries you off;
It's the coffin they carry you off in."
Absolut traumhaft!!

43 dislikes? How It Is possible?
They were adopted.
I am fond of Horovitz playing, but in this Kinderszenen Guiomar is the best.
consumption just like it was during Schumann's time

Barenboim & Karajan an odd couple. What do you mean?
Was this recorder during a tuberculosis outbreak?
I don't know.;-)

+Rodrigo Jim I've been to various classical concerts but I've never seen any fucking.
+Thinh Ho so maybe this actually was recorded during a tuberculosis episode
spewgilist hahahaha
.YES
BRAVO !))
Death rattle from the audience at 12:35.
Great playing! I just uploaded this piece too :)!
Can people who know AI audio processing remove coughs and a bit of noise (not all of it) from this recording?
Why do I feel sad
Methinks Clara had input in this work.
no.
The constant coughing is unbearable, tragic.
I have a garden 🌹Leeder🌹
8:07 wonder if that person still alive.
These coughers piss me off!
Dtimop agreed! Should be taken out and shot!!
That's... a bit too extreme! 😮

Old people coughing away during Kinderszenen. Ironic?
Disgusting coughing.

Lol! Is that what gave it away that you're not actually hearing the piece performed live in concert?? :p
