Can You Beat Fallout 3 as Benjamin Button? (in text form)
You’re probably wondering what kind of idea this is for a challenge. Let me tell you, it might not be a good idea, but it’s definitely an idea. The premise of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is that a baby is born as an old man, but still the size of a baby, and he ages in reverse. By the time he’s in his late 60s, instead of being a wrinkled strip of leather, he’s a child.
Age is not something we have control over in Fallout 3. Even when you’re a baby, you’re not really a baby, you’re just a scaled-down person. Believe it or not, this actually works to our advantage. As soon as I leave Vault 101, the clock starts ticking. Every 15 minutes, I use the “player.setscale” console command to decrease my size by 5%. This gives me 5 hours to complete Fallout 3. I either beat the game, or I keep shrinking until I eventually blink out of existence.
Because there are no special restrictions on weapons I can use, I drained the points from Perception and put 3 points each into Charisma, Intelligence, and Luck to level up quicker and to have a high Speech skill. I tried to climb up on the table like my dog used to do, but a table’s natural defense is an invisible wall to keep people off of it. And that’s science.
As the Overseer was talking about my Pip-Boy, I got distracted by the balloons, I threw party decorations all over the place, got beat up by Butch, gave Old Lady Palmer the experience of a lifetime, went down to the basement for some private time with Jonas, got my picture taken, and went to take the GOAT exam. I chose Medicine, Small Guns, and Speech as my Tag skills.
Amata then woke me up and explained the situation. She gave me a handgun, which I used to put a few bullets in her skull, and was off to kill as many people in the vault as I could. Officer Kendall was first, then Butch, the Radroaches got his mother before I could, the Holden’s were next, and I found myself in the Overseer’s Office. He and his guards died, I tried to kill Amata again, opened the Vault Door, killed 2 more guards, and escaped.
The countdown to my extinction begins now. About halfway to Megaton, I checked to make sure the console command would actually work, just to be safe. Those of you who’ve seen my Fallout 3 as a Baby or New Vegas as a Giant videos know that there are two big hurdles to overcome here. The first is obvious, the smaller you get, the slower you move. The second hurdle is that, for whatever reason, your damage output is directly related to your size. The smaller you are, the less damage you do to enemies.
I made my way to Megaton because I wanted to follow the main story as closely as possible. I didn’t want to just go straight to Vault 112 to save Dad. There needs to be some tension. My first stop in Megaton was Craterside Supply to pick up a Radiation Suit, Stimpaks, and ammo. I broke into Moriarty’s Saloon, stole his terminal password, and found out that Dad had went to Galaxy News Radio. I killed Gobb before I left the Saloon, killed Calamity Jane and a few Megaton citizens on my way out of the city, and was off to Galaxy News Radio.
For everyone asking, this is The Curse of Grandma Sparkle: Grandma Sparkle is the old bag who lives in the shack at Wilhelm's Warf. In many of my other Fallout 3 videos, I've killed Grandma Sparkle and raided her shack on the way to the Citadel. Almost every time I leave her shack after taking what I want, the game crashes. Her corrupt soul condemns the game and causes it to crash.

i actually have had no crashing issues with fallout 3, i softlocked using the console a few times but no crashes
Do a Benjamin button style play through. You start at the highest level and skills and slowly get down to level one with minimal skills.

Yeah that leveling down thing would be awesome you have to choose which skills you want to throw out
Unfortunately I'm pretty sure fallouts kind of an a****** about editing leveling and skills
well, in fallout3, if he does the massive skip its pretty easy. new vegas, and skyrim would be harder. in 4 you have so much skips that its pretty easy.
That wouldn't work for Fallout 4. They hard coded the inability to de-level.

That's the only way to beat Fallout 76.
The smartest way to do this would be to discover all the story important locations as soon as you leave the vault, so you don't have to waddle around as you lose speed. Honestly, I saw this video when it first came out, & I only just now thought of that.

I’ve had fallout three for years and had stopped at the part where you have to follow your dad to the GNR building plaza because I was like 9 and didn’t understand how to kill a centaur. These videos inspired me to finish the game all these years later so the video wouldn’t spoil it and I am so mad I didn’t finish it before.

Sometimes when you walk back out one of the brotherhood of steel has a chance to walk into the radiation from your fatman and aggro them because when you walk in a building when the little cloud is there it may permanently be stuck there.

Can you beat any of the fallouts by starting at max level and progressively leveling down?
Near the end this seemed to become more of a "Can You Beat Fallout 3 While Entering The Quantum Realm" than Benjamin Button run. Still evertaining, and I did learn a thing or two. Namely that backwards aging sucks and you should not shrink yourself beyond reason.

I can explain the size affects damage, to put it simply in fo3, you shouldn't be able to do damage as a baby during the tutorial so it trys to minimise it, and yes i realise you can't even use your fists during the tutorial, but i assume the whole size affects damage is just a fail safe
Although it is weird that you can use weapons as your size are smaller than the guns itself.
I can explain it better.
bethsda makes strange design choices. just look at morrowind literally the first enemy you encounter(if you follow the trail) can stun lock you because it's paralysis effect stacks.

Can you beat fallout New Vegas without saving? Rules are you can't manually save/quicksave but if the games automatically saves, that's allowed. Pretty much a no death run. Good luck if you do this!

Probably not because of the glowing sea. You maybe able to get to Virgil's cave but not back, unless you fast travel. And I'm not sure if he does fast travel from Virgil's cave.
