The guy is a proper example of a real man , his respect for the aboriginal culture, was at the time this was filmed, rather rare for main stream white society in Australia. Hats off to a true blue Aussie
Les single handedly made me want to come to this incredible country when I was a 10 year old. 15 years later I did just that and now spend my weekends out bush in WA. Thank you sir you are an absolute legend
What's your favourite spots? I'm originally from the South Coast. Ravy, Albany & Esperance area. So that is my favourite part of WA. God's country. Really beautiful.
Been living in a foreign country for the past decade, I watch Les' shows when I miss Australia. Gives me intense pride and a longing to return someday.
Used to watch this years ago with my children There all grown up and i have 4 beautiful grandchildren We loved this on rainy winter Saturday's We lived in London
He doesn't just kill animals or plants for show and leaves many alone after explaining which is a true conservationist! Respect for nature is the mark of a REAL man (in his case).
The way he captures this vast land, at that time as well... this is truly a marvelous work. This series definitely holds up :] Great viewing, especially on a lazy Sunday!
Every thur on the tube Les Hiddins made my week I had one day left to work. His insights his knowledge ,his diplomacy was the stuff of magic. He relates to the aborigines and they teach and accept him as one of their own that's what makes his information so valuable ,he could do it all on his own but the cooperation with the locals makes his knowledge all the much more valuable? This was the highlight of my week thanks Les !👍😎🙏🙏🙏❤❤❤❤🥂🍾cheers
A lot of us used to watch this TV series years ago. That is still the ugliest hat that was ever born. Still a terrific programme and my heartfelt thanks to Mr/Major Hiddens.
Born 76… I remember watching this each week haha. All these TH-camrs making camping videos today prob wouldn’t last a day in the Aussie outback sadly. Les was the true survivalist.
Loved this programme as a kid...but always thought the grub was to few and far between to live off...les was always delighted with a tiny berry or two😁
not much of a Bucket list person but "trying witchery grubs" something I defiantly would like to do. They look like they'd be delicious. Loved watching this guy and Malcolm Douglas back in the day . They both love this country its original occupants and the land
This was the series that got me into the great outdoors back in the 80s Les really was my first tv hero. Brilliant that all the episodes are now back on you rude to watch all over again.
Oh man… so happy I stumbled upon this. Born in ‘81 I watched this religiously. As an expat now, it reminds me of all that I love about Australia. Life in the outback can be so grand. I’m curious now though as to how his political correctness was regarding Aboriginal Australians. I find him humble and respectful in contrast to the times, but at the same time occasionally cringeworthy.
Hey Les you weren't there by yourself ,,, All that climbing you did and even the helicopter landing the camera guy was there first. It reminds me of those Olympic athletes who were the fastest in the world and the camera guy is running along side them and films them crossing the line.
Mate, where are you from? This was the late 1980's and low tech. I'm 63, were you born then? I'm a Queenslander, if you know what that means? Watch further you will learn alot about people.
More programming like this ABC back when everything was of a normal aspect. Not every minority group had something to push on the majority of the Australian people.
Talking about the change and then Les casting a hand line out at the end I think even that is dying out look around you and how many of your family and mates can cast a hand line?
When you watch pro's like Les, Malcom Douglas, Harry Buttler etc. their calmness and confidence really makes you realize what a circus clown Irwin was.
Maybe take my family to see the Kimberley region of Western Australia Australia and vist Wyndham and Kununurra and lake Argyle and take gibb river road to derby and down to broome and onto Fremantle Australia
Well Les is ex army trainer teaching the Australian army to survive in tough places using Aboriginal knowledge he has had some scary encounters with crocodiles that's the main reason ......he said he's hasn't had to shoot one ......
Those tiny little fruits very high in vitamin C would probably go through you faster than the hottest curry on earth. I don't blame the early explorers for being wary, half the stuff growing wild would embalm anyone.
The guy is a proper example of a real man , his respect for the aboriginal culture, was at the time this was filmed, rather rare for main stream white society in Australia. Hats off to a true blue Aussie
Doubt it
When I was a kid I had my very own Les Hiddins! My Dad! He was in the army and we would go bush an awful lot when I was a kid.
❤❤❤
Les single handedly made me want to come to this incredible country when I was a 10 year old.
15 years later I did just that and now spend my weekends out bush in WA.
Thank you sir you are an absolute legend
Ive been eating ants ever since.

Stop prostrating your feelings of inadequacy. He is a great bloke. Nothing more, nothing less.
@@SuperRoo_22 Bunbury man myself.
What a great series of exploration and awakening to the great country we live in, this was!
Bloody hell. I haven't seen the Bush Tucker Man since he was on the tele the 70's. This bloke is a genius................
Been living in a foreign country for the past decade, I watch Les' shows when I miss Australia. Gives me intense pride and a longing to return someday.
Watch the Malcolm Douglas videos on you tube. Pure gold
I was in the uk for a bit then came back to sw wa and it was the birds that got me. Hearing magpies and smelling burning eucalyptus means you're home.
brother do not come back the country is not what it was 10 years ago...
Used to watch this years ago with my children There all grown up and i have 4 beautiful grandchildren We loved this on rainy winter Saturday's We lived in London
I love this show. I watched this back in the late 90's when our house finally had cable tv. Greetings from the Philippines!

Les Hidden, Order of Australia, for sure
loving seeing les on the youtubes,i think this man is awesome, brilliant skills and mindset,if only the rest of the world could be a bit more like les,
No , if the rest of the world was like him, the bush would be packed full of people, it's much better with no-one around
He is so informative,he is a absolute legend. I love everything he does
He doesn't just kill animals or plants for show and leaves many alone after explaining which is a true conservationist! Respect for nature is the mark of a REAL man (in his case).
Those terraced waterfalls at 26:40 are a spectacular one of a kind. Great episode.
Such a calming series. Beautiful scenery, music, so relaxing. And you learn at the same time!
Great to have these videos uploaded. Childhood memories and great Australian television.
Favourite episode, up in the Kimberly's, ❤ epic Les
This wonderful series made me visit n explore Australia in 1990/91. Brilliant stuff. Im ready to re-visit.
The way he captures this vast land, at that time as well... this is truly a marvelous work. This series definitely holds up :] Great viewing, especially on a lazy Sunday!

Still so in love with this series ❤
This sort of show will remain inspiring forever . It’s one of the first true depictions of outback Australia
A lot of us used to watch this TV series years ago. That is still the ugliest hat that was ever born. Still a terrific programme and my heartfelt thanks to Mr/Major Hiddens.

I wonder if he's the guy Malcom Douglas was talking about when he said it was disgusting People left garbage at that waterfall via helicopter.
Lol he wasn't the last true survivalist 😂😂😂 he was great but that's a bit of a stretch to put it very lightly
Loved this programme as a kid...but always thought the grub was to few and far between to live off...les was always delighted with a tiny berry or two😁
The original and the best! Absolutely love this series
I lived in derby and Kununurra and been around mitchell plateu and I got taught by les and Malcolm Douglas also about bush tucker

The song at the end is great too . Almost Led Zeppeliny
not much of a Bucket list person but "trying witchery grubs" something I defiantly would like to do. They look like they'd be delicious. Loved watching this guy and Malcolm Douglas back in the day . They both love this country its original occupants and the land
Taste like almonds.
Great to see Major Les again...
This was the series that got me into the great outdoors back in the 80s Les really was my first tv hero. Brilliant that all the episodes are now back on you rude to watch all over again.
Great bush tucker man No 1
Just fantastic...
He was really good looking when he was younger. Bonza fella with a heart of gold. An ozzie treasure
Love this show, may be old but never the less still very interesting
Quality is timeless
Love bush tucker man, thank you ABC
Les and I have a few things in common a love of the outdoors and indigenous life style and nail biting .
Major!
Hats off to the Army chopper pilot! What skill...
bloody amazing mate, what a place you live
Loving these old vids, thanks for the good memories. Cheers.
Been up prince regent river a couple times in the 90s.what a rush that was.
Respect for the single take as old mate pisses off in the chopper at the start
Les is a legand, there are a lot of people who can survive in the bush. His Legand status is that he shared his knowledge, that is other level.
Excellent video 👍✔️✔️✔️✔️
If you like this show, search for Malcolm Douglas and Alby Mangels
This series is such an eye opener.
absolutely fascinating!!🇦🇺 😎🏞️🏜️🌄 thanks ABC

Wholesome as can be
Beautiful.
Bought his book the Bush Tucker Man 20 plus yrs ago. Classic, the originally Man vs Wild.

Yeah. It was nice when men weren't snowflakes.
That’s quite a hat… bit Gandalfian.
bollocks ,true Aussie my British friend.
Classic.
as a hobby hatter, I am puzzled about this hat shape. Can anybody tell me if this is a popular style or his unique personal styling of his hat?
Roo ears mate
His hat has famously been modified
When you watch pro's like Les, Malcom Douglas, Harry Buttler etc. their calmness and confidence really makes you realize what a circus clown Irwin was.
cool vid fast 2 weeks tho think my computer had lag ??
Bloody hell, is that a .44 magnum?
macaw45 turned me on to The Bush Tucker Man.
He was taken by a saltwater croc right?
I wonder why Les had a pistol on him? Because he was still a major in the army?
That's no 38 on his hip
Onya Les!
Now 200 years ago. IN FLorida we have terminalia catappa, which is edible.
Name a better intro music to a tv show. I'll wait
most people would not last 10 days out in the kimberleys i think he could happly live out there
24:40 how did the paintings last so long but degrade so much just in a century?
No talk of climate change, thanks!
Green Ants have a very nasty bite. I know from experience.
Maybe take my family to see the Kimberley region of Western Australia Australia and vist Wyndham and Kununurra and lake Argyle and take gibb river road to derby and down to broome and onto Fremantle Australia
Why has he got a revolver?
Well Les is ex army trainer teaching the Australian army to survive in tough places using Aboriginal knowledge he has had some scary encounters with crocodiles that's the main reason ......he said he's hasn't had to shoot one ......
Tourists
Those tiny little fruits very high in vitamin C would probably go through you faster than the hottest curry on earth. I don't blame the early explorers for being wary, half the stuff growing wild would embalm anyone.
