    Dude, nice job. I like the way you upgraded to 4 channels. The plane looks to fly like a 70 mm freewing F-16 now.

    Nice. I would have bought one immediately. But Freewing failed by not seperating the aileron/elevator.

    I did the same thing as you adding two FW servos for the elevators man! I added a lemon rec/gyro 6ch to it and away it goes! You have some great ideas ReGe, I would have never thought of adding the servos to this aircraft or the F22! I did add a rudder to my FW F6F though; I used one of the included wires on the rudder that they intended for the elevator, cut out a hole along side the other servo for the rudder and it flies great too! The elevators were joined just like we used to do on the nitros we used to build! All good stuff bud... you know what I wish they'd done on this bird was paint more of a mixed darker grey camo job on it though, it would look better!

    • @RaGeRC
      @RaGeRC  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks I appreciate it. Yeah I like this plane better with the dedicated servos for the elevators. I think it was just a way to cut cost and make the plane more affordable which is ok with me! It's a fun little bird. Does get tough to see when it's Grey sky's or when the sun starts going down.

    • @jimhenriksen498
      @jimhenriksen498 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RaGeRC agreed; I think that's why I'd like to have seen them paint it with more camo (dark grey)! I think I may paint mine one day, see if it's easier to see against the sky!

    When I first saw the announcement video for that plane, I wondered why in the world they went with the control configuration they chose. If they wanted to save weight and minimize the number of servos, it seems to me it would have made more sense to have gone with full-flying stabs for elevon control, and no control surfaces on the wing. There are a lot of small RC planes with that configuration, and they fly nicely. I'd also love to see them release a Thunderbirds paint scheme, to help keep it easier to see in the sky.

    The rudder on my apprentice sts was reversed when i changed out everything for a futaba system. Spektrum works backwards to futaba but the ailerons and elevator were right. Really bazar.
    Ive noticed freewing has the ailerons and elevators connected but FMS doesnt. Also fms v2 doesnt have a rudder🤨

    • @RaGeRC
      @RaGeRC  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not really. I have three different 64mm F-16s and flew them all without the fins and they all flew fine. If anything they might feel a bit more slippery in the air but overall they do fine.

    Nice mods. I also fitted the Xfly T-7a motor and it boosted the thrust about 150g over stock. Binned the silly reverse thrust esc too as it needs am additional ch. You should make tailerons as that's the reason why I thought u added the EL servos. I just have tailerons one 3 ch switch. 0 at nothing. 1 at about 30% taileron mix and 2 at about 70% tailerons mix. Rolls like a drill. Gona maiden the F16 tomorrow. Done the rafale yesterday, T-7a and Su27 50mm twin last week. I love these small 64mm 4s planes as they are so cheap and easy to repair. My 6s 80 and 90mm aren't getting as much stick time now!!

    • @RaGeRC
      @RaGeRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nice! Yeah these 64mm jets are just fun and convenient to transport. I was thinking about doing tailerons on the F16 but I actually don't like my jets to roll to fast. To me a nice tamed roll just looks prettier in the air but that's just me haha

      @@RaGeRC yeh I get u. Its very reactive with it set. But I just have it as a fun switch for mad moments. Works well on the su27 and T7a as their roll rate wasn't too fast as stock anyway

      I actually have the gray version of that exact plane. You should be fine if you already have some flying experience. Landing it is what's most important. Expect a noticeable sink rate when coming in that you have to manage with throttle.

  • @paullepine4765

    Great video - thanks. Did the adding of two servos so far back on the fuselage give you any CG issues? I would like to buy one of these but the servo mixing as standard isn't attracting me? I would add a Gyro so therefore I guess that would need to be as a flying wing type with the stock set up? Could use a normal fixed wing gyro type as you have modded ? Any advice would be very gratefully received!

    • @RaGeRC
      @RaGeRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Addind the servos didn't really cause any cg issues. You can use a gyro if you want even in the standard configuration. And yes in the standard configuration you have to set it up as an elevon configuration like a wing in your transmitter. And most other F16s are done as I have it for example the 64mm FMS f16 has the setup exactly as I have it so it would be a normal configuration in the transmitter. Just put a Y lead on the 2 elevator servos and it sets up as normal.

      @RaGeRC  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      At the time of the video I was using an AR630 but now I'm using the new Lemon rx 7 channel gyro receiver which works really well Im actually impressed how much better it is than the old lemon receivers. Im using them in a couple of my planes and not have had any issues yet! Also, just a note if you are going to use a receiver out of an old plane and that receiver is a gyro receiver, it will need to be reprogrammed as that receiver is tuned for that specific plane. Just a heads up.

    So, does one buy the Freewing F16 64mm and switch out the edf unit plus mod the elevators by adding 2 servos...or does one buy the FMS version and simple add a rudder servo since edf is already solid and elevators are already seperated? I think I'm going FMS not to mention SAFE/AS3X configuration would mirror discontinued E-Flite F-16 64mm.

    • @RaGeRC
      @RaGeRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I actually have that fms f16 and modded the rudder on it. And yes it had the good edf and the servos for the elevators and is a good option however I actually prefer the Freewing F16. The Freewing F16 is bigger and I feel more scale looking in appearance. I actually have planned to do a video comparing them both and flights with both.

    @ragerc4358 Nice video, I got a few stores that sell the FMS F16 64mm and I can order the freewing F16 64mm from overseas. Im leaning about getting the freewing one because I can add 2 servos for the elevators but with the FMS one, seems more work for the rudder. Does the FMS or freewing have the more powerful motor?

    • @RaGeRC
      @RaGeRC  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have the FMS one as well its a nice flying plane. I also added the working ruder on it as well. Power output is about the same one both. I like the Freewing more because the overall quality and scale look of the Freewing one is much much better! The FMS one looks cheap in comparison. Also the Freewing one is slightly larger.
