I had no idea Roman was having medical issues. I hope he’s going to be OK…
What's going on with him?
@@anthonyd9984I wanna know to that’s so sad
Hope he is doing better
He mentioned it in the TFL Talkin Trucks podcast, but basically he has a hereditary predisposition to blood clots and needs to avoid anything that increases the blood clot risk as well as take blood thinners and micro-manage any newly detected clots to prevent them causing serious issues
@Cloud30000 thanks for letting us know. He's a really nice guy no matter if you watch the shows daily or whenever.
It would be cool to dam up that stream at the top of your land and maybe dig a small creek going arround your cource with a valve in the dam to keep the perfect amount of water when you need it.
Can we get Rudy, Matt’s Off Road Recovery, Trail Mater, and Fab Rats out to y’all’s course?
That jeep looks like so much fun to just tool around with out there I’m jealous
Hope you’re in better health soon Roman, all the TFL community are rooting for you
Wishing Roman better health this coming year. And thanks to David for making even harder obstacles at the legendary Tumbleweed Obstacle Ranch.
Those are the Baja Boss ALL TERRAINS, not the Baja Boss MTs! Here's to some better health in the coming year, Roman!
You may need a couple of dump truck loads of gravel or rocks to put in those low spots
Hope you're on the road to recovery Roman. Best wishes from the Highlands of Scotland.
Thank you very much!
Really gotta air down for stuff like this. 8-10psi maybe
That first obstacle is collecting too much water without draining; boulders will help temporarily until it washes them too deep, but you really need it to drain consistently. Dig it out 3 feet, add a foot of very coarse gravel covered by a foot of normal gravel (French drain) and finally a foot of packed dirt to add a little mud challenge without it turning into an impassable swamp. Probably need to level out the top layer of mud after each run to keep from rutting out, but that should only take a few minutes. If an active stream crosses through it, then a small diameter concrete pipe should be place going through the coarse gravel to give the stream an easy path to prevent constant erosion on the obstacle.
Hoping the best in the future for Roman, he has created something special in TFL... Always love David's humor and trail making skills...
Well, you finally convinced me that the pond course needs work. Said in the past it is best left alone to challenge vehicles. Because we don't modify trails, we over come them. However, since the drainage problem is being ignored in favor of putting more crap down on top of the mud, it will NEVER get resolved. And it will cost time, physical labor that is hard on aging men and perhaps $ if you start buying products to put in the wholes that will swallow the product up anyhow. Be smart, fix the problem that is causing the erosion in the 1st place. Then the rest of the trail labor will not be futile/pointless efforts. Be smart. Be wise. Be a good example to your viewers. Be well.
Keep building on the course. Those Mickey Thompson tires are not quite mud terrain tires, airing down would help a lot also. I basically almost the same Jeep on BFG KM3s if you ever want to do a comparison of those tires vs a mud terrain I’m in Colorado Springs so not to far away
Maybe david should install two drain tunnels and build the trail over those
I assume the reason you guys aren’t doing coarse to fine gravels as a base is cost, but I think the other commenters are right that this will really be the only solution. You need to permanently raise the base of the track as I don’t think the drainage can be meaningfully improved - having been through the course and really enjoyed it in a ridiculously capable Jeep. More important, although I don’t know you in the real world, Roman, I’ve watched your videos for years and did have the good fortune to meet Tommy when I was there. Having two sons of my own, maybe the most important reason (other than your wife) to do everything you can to maintain your health (and I say that as a guy who got a stent for his 50th and is about to turn 60) is to be there for your family - they need you. Sending prayers and positive energy for your good health!
Must be tough finding that balance between “too easy” and “impossible” for a man made course. It’s certainly coming along though!
Were the tires aired down at all?
finally some content that isn't Tommy bragging about land rovers... thumbs up!
Do not put logs into the obstacles! Logs are slippery when they get wet and eventually organic matter will disintegrate and just make it worse. Fill those mud pits with big stones! That is the only way to make them passable over time. Trail maintenance will require more stones to be added as the obstacles get chewed up by the vehicles.
Glad to see Roman out there there testing the course..
The Ranch proves the most fun offroading doesn't have to be over 10,000 feet in the Rockies.. this place is awesome
That Jeep is a beast. Looks like it should be a permanent vehicle for TFL.
I agree. Test vehicles for things like this.
Everyone in the world should have a Rubicon
I think you and I are a similar age, Roman, and like you I've had some fairly serious health issues come up in the past couple of years (but luckily I seem to be doing better now... knock on wood). Hope you are getting good medical advice and care and that you can also get them behind you and make the adjustments you need to make. It looks like you are living life to the full, so more power to you.
Love you guys! I’ve been following since the beginning. Take care of yourself Roman!
A big bucket list item for me is to tour the US in my H1. It would be awesome to make tumbleweed part of the tour :)
Saying a prayer for Roman and his medical issues. God bless you
Roman says thanks
When the land manager/trail artist is too good at his job! 😆 Love it! Jeep may not be real happy, but that was fun!
David is the man. Listen to him when off roading.
At 7:59 , Look at your drivers-side rear tire !!! the tire lugs are completely "loaded up", rendering traction values non-existent....That's why I prefer the Interco "Cobalt" tire, lots of tire lug voids so the muddy stuff can be expelled, restoring the traction friction. PITA noisy for street driving however.
Now that’s some pucker factor. +20 😂. Now I’d definitely like to do that with Roman. But I’d definitely need lessons. But I have steel muck boots at the ready and can pull cable. 🙃🤣😜
Try using Edge Tamers on the bucket instead of getting a blade. You'll avoid picking up gravel, and you'll still be able to lift the snow out of the way.
No mistakes! The course is great! This is where the wheat is separated from the chaff. Possibly bypasses for the particularly difficult things.
Those are not real mud tires. Those are R/T style tires. But that mud don't care haha. Swampers are still going to fill up with that type of mud. Honestly it would be fun if a guest showed up with a xtreme mud truck just to see how it would do
You guys should fill those hard obstacles with big boulders and make a bit more rock crawling than mudding.
Also you guys need some mud terrains on that Jeep.
@7:31 Just to be accurate your Jeep has the Mickey A/Ts, however there is a Boss M/T you should get. I have the M/Ts and love them on my Jeep.
That kind of mud is fun an definitely messy! We got plenty of that in New England!! If you don’t get stuck you ain’t pushing your rig enough lol
Maybe check out the other 2/3 of U.S. that includes mud versus just dry and rick terrain?
Please, keep your hands off of the rope when winching in. When you let off of the remote the drum is still spinning and you can’t stop it.
might as well build a bridge on cottonwood creek if its going to be a mucky creek all the time
Waste of time and $. To fix the drainage issue will resolve the other problems.
$450 for easy work, you can do yourself, in that big barn, for a quarter the price.
Need a built off-roader to go through that course. Right now it just looks muddy not difficult.
There's probably a couple of dinosaurs 🦕 at the bottom of that pit!!!! 😂😂😂
I am local. Would love to come out and run the Tumbleweed Ranch course. How can I make that happen?
I would get a 5 T excavator in there and dig out all the mud and crap out and then fill the creek with large and small rock.
You can't go slow in mud gonna make it through as fast as possible or you will just sink.
You now to need to add a deep tic layer of beach sand obstacle. ...Rolly 😊
That last hill looks steep on camera, and if it looks steep on camera then it is probably a cliff in person
@tfloffroad I'd like to see a stock Jeep Rubicon slip test.
Roman is the worst off-roader. You don’t crawl threw mud
bfg km2 tires are the best mudders hands down Roman.😉
You invite the Matt's off Road Recovery team to try your course out.
after i get my bronco lifted and on better tires, i'd love to run it through there too lol! i'm aiming for 37s but i might do a more true to size 35.
You're never going to be able to fix those mud pits. The water is naturally going to collect there and make a muddy mess.
Improve the drainage and it will help a lot -- looks like the flow is blocked. The creek needs a better channel to drain better, plus add some of the surrounding rocks and gravel, but leave a little mud for the challenge...
100%
You got it. Instead of fixing the issue, they are putting bandaids on a wound that needs the artery plugged. David is a smart man, but something tells me, he is not fixing the true source problem because someone is not allowing it. $ for a blade instead of using what you have and spend the 3-5K snow blade cost on resolving the drainage problem is not good allocation of time and $. Snow comes and goes with the season, but that drainage problem won't fix its self.
@@WW-wf8tu The thing is, they want _some_ mud to make it challenging, but not too much that it's impassable. The first mud obstacle is pretty easy because it's only a few inches of mud with a rocky base. I think they expected the other spots to be similar, but they're much deeper. Adding stuff that just floats on the mud isn't helping...
They have a pond that the water feeds, not likely going to fix drainage just need to add a lot of gravel
should have gotten a different tractor from the start.
Roman dropping the "F bomb"...nice
@TFLoffroad does that Jeep JK have a hemi ?
Who remembers the OG Gold Mine Hill???
If anything, get a plow on that Ram
Or better yet, be wise and learn how to drive the bucket so it does not tear up the driveway. $ well saved by using what you have intelligently.
Roman, hope you’re recovering and taking it easy. As far as the tractor, a snow pusher would be less expensive and probably better for the driveway area. Honestly though JD’s prices are getting insane. You could switch to Kubota, get a B series package with a cab, sell the 1025E and still barely spend extra.
More difficult is the correct direction......
Fill your holes with road base gravel. You have to maintain stuff like that... Using logs and things defeats the purpose, same with winching out every other obstacle.. If you want dirt to act like dirt then you gotta have dirt. It's that simple. Road base will drain and compact better. Road base and compact it.
Dude, learn how to drive offroad!!
yikes! what was the air pressure on those tires?
I hate mud. That pains me to watch. 😂
Maybe have your friends at falken out fit your jeep with the at3w or rugged terrain. Make a video comparison by doing the course again. I think you’ll find the Baja Boss are not as good as you’d expect.
Mud isn't obstacle, it more of a trap. I know it's your elevation change on property so it makes it easier but you're going to have to throw big rocks in that thing to keep vehicles moving.
I understand being afraid of the obstacles, but don’t be afraid of the vehicle.
As in killing momentum when it suddenly gets tough. I know, someone else’s vehicle, makes sense, but mine always got better after I broke it………Unless it was brand new.
You need rock in those holes not logs.
I wouldn’t use a snow blower on a dirt or gravel driveway. You’ll throw rocks or jam the blades and snap bolts (designed to be snapped)
The perk of the driver you goof : )
I think instead of putting pieces of cut wood in the mud pit you should put more telephone poles in and then put rocks over them then the telephone poles won't be so slippery also I would put crushed chunky rock in them not the round smooth rock
Should have used the Mickey Thompson MTZ in the mud, they are superior to the Boss AT or MT .
Serious health issues?
Hope you get over this hump.
Wishing you good health Roman
Very impressive jk! 👌😎👍 wishing you well Roman!🙏
Not sure there are enough rocks and stumps in Colorado to fill in that first sink hole!😂
Get a blade for the skid
Good to see Roman again!!!!!
The course is getting better and better, not easier, better.
As always, thanks for the show
Those aren’t good mud tires and you might want to try spinning them more to clean out the treads.
Have you tried adding sand to the mud pits? I would think that would help with drainage.
Would love to take my LC200 on that course, looks like a blast😀
It seems like you could use a good bit of gravel in those soupy spots
The Pucker factor was high on this one. Lol
A snow pusher for the skid steer might work well for you.
That Jeep some new BFG's mud terrains
Two words: oil barrels full of rocks, sideways.
Roman take a day off when you need to bud it’s ok. Tommy can do this. In tommy and Nate and Andre we trust. Just get better in 2024. Roman. Kase Alex And Brendan. You three are absolutely crushing the vids together as brothers with. Tommy. Love you all. Ps tommy your leadership is phenomenal. Thank you so much for stepping up.
Roman says thanks for the kind comment
They also had that girl,Alex, but they got rid of her pretty fast
That Jeep just needed a different driver!
Snow blowers are great, but plug up with any wet snow. Blade works in all conditions. Plus without the show being thrown around you don't need a cab for the operator. Get some chains for the rear tires and some rear ballast and you'll never look back. Found a pre-tax price of $2,450 in about 5 sec. online but probably easier to have the dealer install it for what little extra they are charging you. Have fun!
Should have watched more of the video before commenting. If you have a skid-steer use that instead.
I've used JD snowblowers for 30 years and never had them plug up with wet snow and slush. Way to powerful in pto driven form. Now one of those belt driven style or walk behinds might plug up but I cant imagine a situation that pto blower will ever clog.
I would add at Tommy's demise a seesaw system
There are actual professionals that make off road trails. Time to consult one. It’s obviously beyond current staff capabilities.
The professional help they need to consult or hire is that of a drainage specialist. Or give David permission to fix that issue. The rest is not rocket science.
Here’s an example of two wrongs don’t make a right. Insufficient trail design meets bad drivers/vehicles. PSA: don’t do this on public trails people. This is private land they can mess it up all they want. Love the show.
What bumpers are those?
Aev
@@TJY2K Thank you!
Get the snow blower attachment!! You won't be disappointed. Love you guys!!
They already admitted that it was a waste of $.
No mistakes, just happy little accidents.
I hope you are on a speedy recovery Roman. I wish you the best.
