    I have a first gen sequoia. It’s got a v8 and has lots more torque but same HP. The gas mileage is exactly the same. I got rid of my jeep for the sequoia, tow ability, cabin space, and off road capability. I still go everywhere I went before in my jeep. So pleased with this Toyota. I’d really love to see a jacked up first gen on your channel vs a Jeep.

    I have basically the same Jeep (2015 AEV JK350 Rubicon). That hood is from AEV and is a great upgrade over stock as well. It allows heat out and greatly reduces hood flutter on the highway.
    It’s an amazing vehicle!
    Those rock sliders, and roof rack are not done by AEV.
    I have added an Ursa Minor J30 camper top, more water, fridge, etc. to make it a great overlander. My son and I have taken several trips including a 16 day 5900 mile trip out west.
    The cool thing is it’s just as at home on the highway as it is on the trails with that suspension (not counting needing more grunt from the engine).
    Love my AEV!!

    I had a 2012 JKU Arctic Edition. Beautiful Jeep, all the time getting compliments. In 2021 I traded it in for a new JLU. After a few returns to the dealer, replacing the ball joint and fixing the death wobble, everything was under warranty and hassle-free. Now, with 45000 km (I'm in Canada), I discovered some rust coming out on the hood. Jeeps are not cheap vehicles, I believe the quality is falling behind. Even though, I don't see myself driving another vehicle other than a jeep.

    Because in Germany, every aftermarket parts need to be TÜV approved, there is not much to choose from. AEV is one of a few bumpers you can legaly drive. The Quality is very good. The powder coating is very good. Only ther Pintler Wheels, mostly the Beadlock were some Rims that tent to break. So if you are in Germany and you see a JK which is not stock - it will mostly have a AEV suspension, AEV bumper and AEV rims.

    If the jeep is wandering its likely you have worn front end components like ball joins, track bar ends etc. That can be fixed and the jeep can drive straight down the road. I had wandering and got those things fixed up and now it drives straight as an arrow on 37s.

  • @montechie
    @montechie ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Love the JKUs but I really prefer the ZF 8spd trans in the JL, You don't notice 35s on the 8spd Rubicon at least. I'd probably only get a 6spd manual JK, even as vague as that one was. That AEV is a good find, except the 350 package is just a spacer lift I think with shocks, the 370 has the relocation brackets which are really nice compared to the typical lift for ride quality. People give them crap over control arm kits, but even doing full control arms you really aren't maintaining geo over 2". The other AEV components aren't apples vs apples with typical aftermarket. The winch bumpers are crash tested, the wheels are specific for a Jeep clearing 37s, and have small details like protection for your stems from rocks, etc. Just didn't see that attention to detail in other brands until more recently.

    Being that your Jeep is an AEV build I’m curious if it also came with the option 4.10 gear set. My 2018 Rubi JKU had 4.10 and it did well on the hwy with 35s. However, 4.56 gears for what you have there would be perfect and that would give you your power back. The JLU 3.6 has the same torque and horses power so the only difference between the 2 is transmission gearing.

However after switching vehicles on a ride off road my Jeep friend sold his Jeep and bout a Toyota 4Runner. 2 comments he made, my 4Runner felt like a Cadillac and it was supper reliable. The first "Unlimited" was a TJ that was a little longer. Still 2 doors. Nicknamed the LJ (for "Long Jeep". It was NOT an official Jeep designation.). When the JK was introduced, the 2-door was called the "Sport" and the 4-door was call the "Unlimited".

    • @adam_mawz_maas
      @adam_mawz_maas ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Sport designation was not for the 2 door JK. Sport is the base trim line which replaced the 'Wrangler X' trim on the JK in 2009 (Sport was a previously TJ trim from 2002-2006, sitting above the X trim also introduced in 2002 and roughly equivalent to the current Sport S trim). The X/Sport trim level was always on both the JK and JKU.
      The X trim on the JK functionally replaced the SE, X and Sport trim levels on the TJ.

    How would it be for a family of 3 in a long road trip or stick with my Ram 1500?

    • @jaredtinson6720
      @jaredtinson6720 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The jeep will be fine. We just did a 4k mile trip with a family of 4 plus 2 dogs and it was comfortable enough. Would the truck have more room, comfort and power? Absolutely, but our goal was to go off roading on the trip as well and we couldnt do that in our Durango. We have a cargo box for the roof and I built a platform for my dogs in the trunk.
      Edit: my jeep is a 2017 jku winter edition with a 2.5 inch AEV lift and 33s plus a synthetic winch and a truetrac limited slip rear end. Payload is only 800lbs, so packing lighter is essential vs a truck. My old 2011 f150 ecoboost with a topper had more power, a smoother ride bc of the wheelbase and slightly better gas mileage on similar trips at around 19 mpgs.

    • @JamesSmith-uc8tk
      @JamesSmith-uc8tk ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Based on my experience with a 2016 JKU, the ride will be rougher than the truck.
      Depending on what size cab your truck has, there may be less passenger room in the Jeep.
      Wranglers have a relatively low payload capacity. For example, the one I had only had 850lbs of payload capacity, and it was the 4 door. So, once you load up two adults and two teenagers, you've already used up 2/3 to 3/4 of payload.
      Mine was also rated to tow 3500 lbs, but I think there are certain trims now that can tow 5000 lbs.
      Fuel mileage will also be better with a stock truck vs. a Wrangler.
      That all said, a Jeep can be a fun vehicle and an experience that will stay with you.

    • @JahyMoonwalker
      @JahyMoonwalker ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you're packing a lot and staying on roads then the truck is far more comfortable. With a topper you can securely store a lot of cargo, and the ride at highway speeds is much better.
      I love my Wrangler but if I'm going cross country I take my Tundra.

      Buy a new Rubicon. Wait 7 years. Then upgrade it for serious off roading.

      You can do a lot more with it than just off roading. They ride nice on the street and the highway too. It's a do anything and go anywhere vehicle.

    Yeah not interested in stellantis(Chrysler) products. Don’t care how off roady it is. Waiting for the star of the show, the 2024 Toyota Tacoma, which looks to be a well rounded vehicle that does a lot of things right.

      Colorado is the mid-sized truck to buy. More options, less money, more reliable

      My wrangler has been more reliable than our Tacoma ever was. That truck was nothing but transmission issues and cheap interior that creaked and fell apart in your hands.
