I followed your exact instructions and...woohoo! My humidifier is clean, the fan motor is oiled and it is working noiselessly. Thanks. Yours was the only site that solved my problem.

The same thing was happening with our Levoit LV600HH, and opening and cleaning the bottom section made ours completely silent! It's much quieter than before. Thank you!
Our fan looked just like yours, after 2 years of constant use.
I know the manufacturer says to ONLY use purified or distilled water, but we always use tap water. The unit goes through so much water that it's difficult for us to keep ours supplied with distilled water. This could be part of the issue.
The fact that water scale is accumulating on the circuit board means almost certain eventual failure, unfortunately, since water scale is electrically conductive. We've gotten a lot of life out of ours anyway.

Thank you so much! This noise has been driving me crazy. It's almost 11:30 & I just spent an hour cleaning the entire machine thinking it was dirty & it did nothing. Then I found your video & I guess I need to take it apart tomorrow.

Thank you! Old video but it worked! I noticed on my fan I could split it apart instead of the round washer. Cleaned it out good and added some oil. Like it's brand new!

Many thanks! I wasn't able to remove the plastic washer to apply oil to the motor, but cleaned the fan so the humidifier is quieter.

Very helpful thanks! I used vegetable oil to lube the fan since I didnt have machine oil. Good trick for those in the same situation 😊

Organic oils do go rancid and degrade over time, so a better oil should be used if possible. Your hardware / big box store should have many options available.

Probably not helpful for you as this comment is a couple of months old, but I used the tip of a knife to gently move it to the side and up in order to remove it.

For ultrasonic humidifiers you need to use distilled water to prevent the calcium/lime dust buildup.

I’ve got a totally different humidifier making exactly the same noise. I didn’t think it had a fan but it’s gotta be that. I’ll have to open it up. Thanks!

Impressive. I wonder if a Levoit air filter - 300S, is similar.

Unfiltered tap water ( in a mist humidifier ) will wreck havoc on everything it's path. Use a pitcher with a filter just for the humidifier it helps alot & less white shit on everything in the house.

I have the exactly same noise in my LV600HH (only at beginning for a minute or so then runs normal), but the fan motor was clean and looks normal as new, also runs by itself without any noise. I am wondering if the ultrasonic atomizer (the little round high-frequency vibrating device) could be also an issue. Has your noise issue completely gone without reappearing?

@@CFMASH Yes, replaced the fan with a new one from Amazon. Worked like a champ.
